House of the Dragon | Season 1 Episode 4 Review & Breakdown | King of the Narrow Sea | HBO 

This took HOURS to process for some reason. Something must have messed up because some of the video clips look corrupted now. Sorry about that. I'll make sure it doesn't happen next time. What did you think of this episode? I loved it!

"He's there to watch her back not blow it out" This man is a poet.

As a book reader, this was the best episode to me. Completely took this mysterious part of the story and made it better. I loved how Rhaenyra is finally showing cracks in her armor. From victimized teen to an adult dealing with the results of her actions. This episode finally gave me that old thrones feeling back.

That Kid Lord killing the other guy was my hightlight

Best episode of the season. Rhaenyra has a certain power over Daemon. She got him to give the dragon egg back at Dragonstone, and then in this episode I think he felt she had the upperhand over him again. It's an interesting dynamic they've worked into the show.

I choked on the “ he’s supposed to watch her back, not blow it out”😂

I think quite a few will be disappointed with this episode, those that just want action and dragons and fair enough but this episode is what really makes the Game of Thrones franchise so special. Subtle character work that leave you guessing in all directions, excellent writing and performances, opening up so many doors and possibilities of what may come next. Superb episode.

"Sir Snitch-a-Lot" LOL! -Anyway: i disagree that Daemon seduced Rhaenyra to use her as revenge against his brother. I think he genuinely meant what he said to Viserys, that he would be better being her first experience than all of these old crusty lords that only wanted her for her bloodline and dragons. I think that by showing her she can enjoy and empower herself even if married, Daemon thought that he was helping by motivating her to hurry up and just go through with picking and marrying someone, thus ending the delays and Viserys' frustration. I also think that it popped into his head later, "hey, what if I just married her instead?" and brought it up to his brother because he sees it as a show of Targaryen strength against the forces that he knows have been rallying around waiting on Viserys to weaken or die off. Two adult Targaryens married to each other are infinitely more powerful than a vassal family, the HIghtowers, trying to secure the throne for a two-year-old. Despite the way Daemon misreads Viserys and acts impulsively, I think his motivations are to solve the problems as he sees them and help his family.

The producers did really make a fantasy job in creating this episode. A nice foreshadowing was when Rhaenyra and Daemon was in the streets there was that old-woman who ask Rhaenyra, "do you wish to know your death child?" and the dragon breathe fire against Rhaenyra.

this show never disappoints and matt smith is absolutely killing it. those daemon and rhaenyra scenes got me screaming and giggling like a fool. I LOVE THEM.

Did anyone else notice the potential foreshadowing when Rhaenyra was told in the streets “do you want to know your death” then you see a dragon like statue breathing fire 😬

Something I just realized a few days ago was the pacing of the show is so different than the first one. We are used to bouncing around from location to location with so many different story arcs and characters that are separated by the world. And then for this show at least so far you're basically in one setting with one group of people like a typical show and I'm not saying it's good or bad it's just different and it couldn't figure that out until recently that was what was making it so different from the last show. I think that's why we are able to invest in these relationships so much faster

After the episode finished I literally said out loud "this was the best one yet" to an empty room. Amazing episode. It's weird that some people are saying it wasn't that good. This episode was for book readers.

This episode was deep and it only gets better, I love how they are not wasting time and telling almost everything just like the books, to read it is one thing, to see it on screen getting justice is another. They are really going the full 12 rounds 🥊, and its great to know that this episode was written out and directed by women which makes the concepts and POV solid.

R&D’s onscreen chemistry is so amazing honestly.

Honestly so far I've loved every single episode from beginning to end, I find all the characters at the very least interesting and think they really suit GRRM's preference for his characters to exist in a grey area, I'll be quite sad when the age jump happens but at the same time if they keep going with this quality I'm sure it won't affect the viewing enjoyment at all.

This episode was so good! Love how the viewer is always left questioning the motives of characters; even if you think you know, you’re still not completely sure. So many of the characters’ relationships with each other have changed after this episode.

When they were on the ship and we hear the cry of Caraxes I thought it was going to be Vhagar because I remember in a previous episode it said something along the lines of, "Vhagar's cries can sometimes be heard in the distance by sailors". Also, I know Otto Hightower is an SOB but I really felt bad when he got stripped of his title as Hand of the King. You could really see the pain in his face.

Why do I feel scammed everytime they mention about the “Prince that was promised”?

The commentary on this video is probably my most favorite you’ve ever done. This show is amazingly epic in every sense of the word.

This episode was everything we loved about Game of Thrones. What I liked more is the dynamics between Rhaenyra and Cole. It's one of the things I've been looking forward to since the show was announced. I'm also glad that Rhaenyra has finally stepped into her grey zone. The next episode is gonna be fire 🔥

I am quite surprised over the fact that people are not reacting more over the final "tea" scene! THAT MOMENT IS HUGE! That is why it is actually the final scene... It will be the first big decison that Rhaenyra will have to make during her life and this time she will really have to deal with the consequeces that will come with her choice. First things first, the moment she realised what the tea was for, she understood the consequences of her actions, she is after all a woman, and the possibility of carring a baby is there, something that she always said she did not want to. Next fact: The tea was send by her father, the King, this means he will know if she drank it or not (btw aplause to the king! what an amazing cheque-mate). Here is the problem: if she drinks it, she will be confirming that actually something happened that night, breaking the final trust that the king has in her. There will be no comming back from that, specially because the king thinks she did it with her uncle/his brother, so that is double betrayal there. If she does not drink the tea, (happy king!) the possibility of carring a baby from Ser Cole is quite high! Apart from the fact that she does not want to be like her mother, carring babies and suffer from pregnancies... Ser Cole is a dark man, the possibility of their baby be more like him is also quite high, and if you think that Rhaenyra is about to get married to a man that has white hair like herself, giving birth to a baby that has the same hair+eyes of her "bodyguard" seems like a very dangerous situation... so WHAT WILL RHAENYRA DO???

I've been waiting for the shoe to fall since episode 1. But it just keeps getting stronger. Thank the gods.

In my opinion the dragons and magic etc in GOT and HOTD are great, but what makes these series so superior is the delicate character building, incredible writing and the intricate political charades.

After reading the books idk if Im still so much in love with 6-10 yet I do absolutely agree that this fourth episode was godlike writing and acting in this perfect scenery of a ASOIAF world

That was Boremund Baratheon sitting next to Rhaenrya, not his son, Borros. Boremund is the same guy who gets Rhaenys' favor during the joust and gets flattened by Daemon. He dies before the dance begins. Borros says the lines about "Go home, pup....." and "It is not for me to tell you what to do when you are not beneath my roof."

I loved the episode! I am sad they’re gonna be changing Rhaenyra and Alicent soon though, only because their performances are so good and their chemistry as well. But I guess only time will tell and I’ll give them the benefit doubt that they casted their older versions well too.

Tell me guys, am I the only one disappointed with how shallow the showrunnes described Daemon and Rhaenyra spicy scene? I saw so many interesting comments about it, how complex it's meaning could be, while the show runners were like "yea so he just wanted to overpower her but then his impotence stopped him". Seriously and that's it? After all that build up and chemistry between them? Things like this really make me worry about the depth of the incoming episodes and the show in general but I hope I will be wrong.
