Gray the way I immediately thought of you when I saw Daemon next to that Weirwood Tree. I literally screamed “Grayyyyyyy is gonna make a vid on this!!!”. This episode shocked me to the core. The way I am so happy Rhaenyra got her clarity. Ugh this episode was everything.
I was hoping for that moment so hard when Rhaenyra opened that letter. And Daemon. I think I only inhaled during that whole thing because I was steady gasping.
I breathed with relief when it finally came out. Rhaenyra needed to know her father believed in her to the end. Unfortunately, war was already started on a lie.
Larys was never interested in serving Alicent, he was interested in tearing the great houses down. His little foot fetish was only about power. Since her power has shifted with her father gone he moves to the next person of power, Aegon.
I was gonna say .. Larys seemed like he was Varys(master of whisperers), but he's more Little Finger mixed with a lil bit of Varys. 😂@@reluctantfangirl1621
I love the irony between Daemon and Rhaenyra. At the end of season one he chokes her out and says, "Dreams didn't make us kings, dragons did." And now he's having dreams of his own.
how is it ironic ? Dragons made them Kings, Viserys was wrong to think otherwise... even to defeat the treat Aegon saw in the North, they need dragons... they didnt get elected to rule Westeros... they burned thousands
@@grichkatayou7558 I don't think Viserys ever thought otherwise. Obviously dragons are what gives them power. But Viserys, much like (apparently) Aegon I, did put faith in prophetic dreams to guide their actions, no less because it was only thanks to Daenys' dreams that they even survived the Doom of Valyria. The Irony is that Daemon was at first completely dismissive about Aegon's Dream being important (hence the comment that it's only the dragons that matter), but now he's having magical dreams of his own and will finally have to understand how overpowering they can be.
@@g_wylde Aegon put his faith in dragons... they litteraly represent his house. he knew he would need them FOR THE DREAM... Viserys didnt think that much of dragons... if he did he would have know turmoil within the ruling family is the last thing to tolerate ... IT IS THE REASON HIS GRAND FATHER HAD THE COUNCIL TO CHOOSE THE HEIR... because conflict for the throne within the family equals dragon v dragon... hence risking the most important weapon needed for the dream... all this is pretty obvious, it is why Viserys was the worst Targaryen ruler, in the way a targaryen ruler is supposed to be...
@@grichkatayou7558 @grichkatayou7558 Dragons allowed them to take the throne but it took more than that to keep the throne. Say what you will but Viserys didn't have a dragon (because it died) and still managed to keep the peace throughout the realms. I think it's ironic because Daemon didn't believe in dreams and now he's having his own. It may not be in the way his kin is having dreams (I think Alys Rivers is messing with him) but he's still having dreams. Which in return will make him rethink his stance on the subject all together.
You know Alicent feels hella stupid when she realizes Viserys wasn’t telling her to put her Aegon on the throne but was talking about the song of ice and fire, a “story” he shared with Rhaenyra, not her. lol, I loved the look on her face.
@@drrohanjacob it was bold… she knew she needed to get a clearer understanding of what Alicent was thinking and went, without all of the noise of her small council just telling her to use the dragons. She’s a leader ready to do what is right. Which goes against all the accounts of the Maesters and I’m here for it.
I really enjoyed the discussion between Rhaenyra and Alicent. It felt good for both the characters. Rhaenyra gets confirmation that her father held fast her as the heir and believed she (or her line) would be responsible for defending the living in the war against the dead. And Alicent realizes she royally messed up and now the idiots she’s surrounded herself with have gone too far to be turned back now
That’s the point of the scene to build it up, keep you wondering. They won’t dumb it down and show/over explain every single thing and new character. They trust that their audience is intelligent enough and this is why I like some of their choices on the show.
Rhaenyra is the better Queen because she was taught to be the Queen the same way Jace is being taught to someday be king. Love how Rhaenyra trusted the future of House Targaryen with Raina. I see the scene with Alicent and Rhaenyra a little differently. I think Alicient always had the seed of doubt that She may have heard Viserys wrong and made a mistake. I think her meeting with Rhaenyra confirmed she heard Viserys wrong. That’s why she said there was nothing she could do about it now. When Rhaenyra told her exactly what Viserys said, she knew she had f%cked up but refused to try and do anything because 1) she always wanted her son on the throne and 2)She is still jealous of Rhaenyra from all those years ago. So to me that makes Alicient the worse because she knows she is wrong but her own ambitions and jealousy keep her from acknowledging she made a mistake which I think she knew all along Aegon the Idiot was not the chosen heir. Also, it confirmed what Alicient always knew. Viserys loved Rhaenyra more than he loved her children. He knew her children were Strongs, but didn’t care because they were Rhaenyra’s.
Rhaenyra was brave to go into enemy territory. And at least she knows her dad didn't change his mind. Alicent knows now too. But is right. It's too late.
They can NEVER say Rhaenrya didn’t try. She went in enemy territory to try one last time to end this shit in peace. That takes the biggest of BALLS. Bc if it were me, Luke would’ve been enough for me to rain fire. Edit..that scene made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I had to sleep on it lol actually it was bad
Please do tell how she was going to end it ?? Alicent was going to tell her son to renounce the throne ?? how ?? smh they were already at war , Alicent was powerless to stop it. this is just bad writing. hundreds of people have already died, especially the Kings heir... so how was Alicent going to stop it ?
It actually broke my heart when Daemon didn’t say anything to what Alys said 😭 to me that just implies he definitely partly went to Harrenhall to die and not just take it for Rhaenyra to raise an army
@@SneakyDolly So..?? How is there ‘second Night King’?? Because if my memory serves me correctly, the white walkers were defeated 300 years earlier.. Just as Ara defeated the Night King WE SAW!

Girl ! The way Aemon got up out of there and had that thang THANGIN', I burst out laughing. That was a straight up BDE move. He like yeah, I'm on the soft, but listen to the music I make as I swing it throughout the room ! BAAAAABY ! How I hollered. Not one of them made any joke about his manhood I can tell you that.
Daemon as bloodraven's predacessor? Oooh - I thought I was the only one who thought of that - and I so want it to happen. It makes so much sense to me.
Excellent episode. Literally felt like I was reading the books instead of watching tv. Great sets, dialogue, everything was on point. I hope House Of The Dragon keeps it going just like this episode. Great video!
this video only just now taught me that this is a war between the 2 dichotomies of house Targaryen as represented by the great conqueror and the great conciliator.
I watch a lot of episode breakdowns but yours are by far my favorite. I love the way you talk about everything in your videos, I talk in the same way and as a result it feels like a friend is telling me all the tea about what’s been going on in Westeros whenever I watch your videos lol. I literally never hear anyone else talk in the same way I do that makes content in this fandom so it’s just hella cool to hear someone speak in a very down to earth type of way. Like, your authenticity shows in your videos and I just vibe with it so hard. Thank you for being you and making these bomb ass videos 💖
I know we all love a good dragon loot train scene, but man these episodes in between is where the true story telling is. And we get so many great opportunities to see these great actors against each other. And yes , I was so super excited for Rheanarya to finally hear and know , her Father who loves her above all did not waver on his death bead. She finally has that confirmation.. NOW let’s go burn some dang greens 🥬 lol I’m not a book reader , so I truly love your videos and how you help break down but with out spoilers so we can have back story with in the show. I did watch your Deamon video and your theory.. that was very good , and I Agree .. it looks like it lines up. I believe those are my baby Drogon, Rhegal, Ans Visarion ❤️💛💚
I think Helena saying “I forgive you” is the same as her saying “there’s a beast beneath the boards.” It’s from a vision and we don’t know what she’s really eluding to yet but we will.
I think she is like Bran in that she sees all the what ifs. Just like Bran said "You're good man Theon" I think she said this because there really wasn't anything Alicent could have done. Cole was the one at fault.
What if, Helaena saying "I forgive you" to Alicent, refers to Alicent becoming aware of the truth of Viserys lasts words. That Alicent will reveal this truth to Helena, at some point in the future. If Alicent had not mistaken Viserys words and act upon them as she did, Jaeherys could still live. Had Alicent known what the Viserys meant, maybe she would have told the small counsil that her Aegon is not the one to rule. She could have done all in her power to see Rahenyra on the throne instead, despite the intrigues by Otto and the small counsil. Yet, she ended up telling the small counsul what they needed to hear, and the events that unfolded came to be. Aegon was immeditly to be crowned, and the houses, lords and commoners were to bend the knee to him. Thus, Aemond was sent to Storm's end, encountered Luce, and the killing of the latter came to pass. This led to Blood and Cheese taking Jaehaerys life, as Daemon had his wild temperement unleashed and uncontrolled in the wake of Luce's death. And so, Alicent can now see the error she made when Viserys died, and that led to the misery that is to come. Rhaenys speak to Rhaenyra about what started the war. In time it will be unclear she states. But Alicent has yet to see the greater grief that her mistake 100% enabled. And so, she could be really sorry when some of the future events occur. Just a thought that came by with what was given in this episode.
I agree with this analysis. It seems like a Blanket 'i forgive u for everything that happened, and all the senseless killing n destruction hereafter'.. n maybe her mother Alicent causes her Death later aswell.. if you could break it down later for us, from the books .. dat would be so awesum!🎉 @@theimaginationcafe8474
I thought Alicent was trolling Rhaenyra when she swore on her mother, because in Season 1, Rhaenyra swore on her mother about not sleeping with Daemon to Alicent and it was a lie. Or rather, a half-truth. Also, I had a lump in my throat for the entire Rhaenys-Corlys scene. Jeez. Great episode.
Then I say you didn't watch the episode well. Did you?? Its not even a half truth that Rhaenera slept with Daemon. Its the funking truth. Tell us where Rhaenera and Daemon had sex???? Yes they kissed and a bit of romance but they didn't sleep together. But we can tell from the episode that Rhaenera slept with Sir Cole. Kindly learn the truth well b4 you become like Allicent
@user-yn5vm4uq7b like I said in my response to the above commenter Ashley ofnaath. Rhaenyra did not lie. She did not sleep with Daemon. Yes, she obviously slept with Christian Cole. There is No confusion there. But when she swore on her mother it was about Damon not Cole.
@@Deltadivaix Ok, but iirc it was basically obfuscation. Like Rhaenyra swears she didn't have sex (with Daemon) but did have sex (with Criston), while Alicent it worried about Rhae doing something irresponsible that could ruin her, i.e. have premarital sex with anyone, much less her uncle or a sworn kingsguard... Also I'm pretty sure Rhae swears on her mother that Daemon didn't even touch her, which was objectively a lie. So yes, Rhae did swear on a lie (the touching and kissing with Daemon, even if not sex) and she also lied in terms of the spirit of the question (no she didn't have sex with Daemon, but she did have sex with someone else she shouldn't, so it's practically the same problem).
So glad so relieved you're still making content so good to have house of dragons to breakdown more game of thrones story. Yes queen!! Episode 2 was dreary to me so excited to see what you connect

I loved the endiing. The whole conflict is a mistake but in time it will not matter and no one will know., just as the cause of the feud between the Riverland houses which is long lost in time. A very powerful theme which has obvious parallels to the conflicts of our time.
Omg Grey I knew you would be excited to see Daemon hallucinating at Harenhall at thr Weirwood tree!! I loved that part the most next to the secret meeting w Rhae & Alicent! Production/Writers did their thing this episode! Also, thanks for explaining the new faces 🙌🏾 Next episode will be epic!!
Finally someone who gets and understands the ending. Rhaeneyra felt like she had to try to do something to stop the war and yes it was risky. But she knew that going into it.
Seems like no one noticed how Crispin gaslighted Alicent at the council meeting. And that dude at dragonstone wanting the dragons loose is Sir Alfred Broome. He questioned Rhaenyra last episode about Jahaerys' death. Booke readers knows who he is and i can sense Rhaenys is beginning to see through him.
Well, I think Rhaenyra finally has confirmation that she can't stop war. Alicent isn't giving up Kings Landing so easily. Alicent swore on her mother, a dig at Rhaenyra back in season one when Alicent asked if she slept with Daemon, which she didn't but nearly would have if Daemon hadn't walked off in the brothel, then went back and had some Sir Criston. Wish Baela would have Dracarys'ed Ser Criston Cole. Lady Rhaena and Lady Baela being set up to beloved, and Lady Rhaena is more important than she knows at the moment. Also, Aegon needs to understand that Aemond has the biggest Dragon, and even though he is on Aegon's side, he might not hesitate to take his brother out if he had the chance to do so surreptitiously. . . .
a repeated theme in both shows is this unwillingness to pull the trigger like you mentioned with baela. and if only the person had listened to the violent advisor like olenna or daemon, all the misery could have been avoided
I'm loving this season so far! Everyone is doing an amazing job, and can we give a shout out to the costume department? The detail and styling of the outfits is simple incredible.
@@SouthpawLD Daemon arc ends with his fight with Aemond in God's Eye, the largest lake of the Seven Kingdoms, while the night king is beyond the Wall in Winterfell. The only way Daemon could become the night king is if the show creator moves Demon’s fight with Aemond to the Wall instead of God's Eye; otherwise, it's not possible for Daemon to become the night king.
@@Detix-rory So why is it hard to believe in a series where a girl walks out of fire with three dragons? If he is recovered by the children of the forest THEN WHAT? They never said his body was recovered.
@@SouthpawLD You said Daemon will become the night king, which means his body most get transported to the wall; otherwise, it's impossible for him to become the night king. How about I say Viserys Targaryen will get resurrected and transported to the wall and become the night king because that's how you sound. I think sea smoke will go to the younger black dude with dreads. The newest one who’s been introduced. The way he watched the dragon in the sky an episode or 2 ago, I think they’re setting something up ..I thought so then, I really do now that smoke is lonely
When Rhay pulled out the knife 😂I thought she had heard about her baby daddy the oath/back breaker and Alicent. I feel like if anyone will catch on to Alicent and Cole it will be her brother. I was sad about her breaking up the sisters to protect her children but ultimately it seems like that is the best decision for everyone. She really trusts her with everything she’s afraid to lose 😢
Just like GOT became the beginning of the life of John Show, HOTD is becoming the mid- life story of Daemon Targaryen. I saw that tonight. Oh Oh. I have a tip for beginners like me when watching the opening credits of the show... the little stories they tell. I accidentally clicked on to "Audio English" that goes with closed captions and guess what??? It narrates every change, every character, every kingdom and act EXPLICITY!! Oh I'm so happy I could scream! No more rewinding 5 times hoping I'll catch something else I may have missed. It gives hair color, family, battle....EVERYTHING YOU CAN SEE, YOU CAN NOW HEAR!!! I love it when my tablet has a mind of its own and shows me something I never would have found on my own! You're 🙏 welcome !❤
I’m sorry but- I find it insanely stupid of Alicent to not capture Rhaenyra and end the war right there. I thought it was very foolish of Rhaenyra to go to begin with. Do you have thoughts on that? It seems so impractical to bring these two together in this way.
its a calculated gamble. they were friends. rhaenys told her alicent didn't want the fight to happen. not that stupid. plus you will discover that at this point noone even cares about the 2 main claimants anymore. they just want to fight
@@verycool2050 it is, though. her baby grandson was murdered in his bed, seemingly ordered by rhaenyra (i know this was not her intention, but it happened because daemon took her very seriously and didn't inquire further when she said she wanted aemond and took things into his own hands), but the idea that these two are still friends makes no sense to me. alicent KNOWS she made up something on the fly when viserys died, took what he said too seriously knowing vizzy was essentially babbling at that point. if alicent is not stupid, how could that have happened? she knows exactly what she did trhaenyra. she did not care about their friendship when she demanded to examine her newborn babies, she did not care about friendship when she literally snatched the throne from her dear friend. please explain that one.
I have been watching your videos for years now and I just want to say you are one of the best SOIF content creators out there. True fan of the story and books and you appreciate the show and lore and these episodes have been giving us all of that! Sad to see people hating on this season it has been so good!
Excellent again, the video about Daemon you did is my favorite. You nailed it buddy! Keep up the great work and keep squeezing them thangs, because we need the juice!
I love your summaries. The only thing I think you might have missed is when Club Foot is advising the king, I don't think it is Alicent he is going after. It's Almond. Larrys knows that Almond is an easy target and uses that to get ahead. I also don't think it's a coincidence that the two brothers run into each other in the brothel. Aegon, in his mind, is getting revenge and Almond just assumes it's more unjustified bullying. I think we all agree that the rumours are completely made up and Almond, although he resents his older brother, is loyal. Maybe not so loyal now.
Rhaenyra not taking action is driving me insane. The war is unavoidable at this point, sadly. Daemon crying broke my heart. The vision of young Rhae and little Jahaeris was hounting. Good to know he has some humanity in him, but here in this channel we already know that about the rogue prince.
9:54 Daemon's Souls. Daemon's walk through Harrenhal is exactly how I would imagine a next-gen Dark Souls title would look like. I'm already dreaming about a PlayStation 6 BluePoint remake of Dark Souls 1.
When Alicent swore on her mother, I thought that was her confirming she knew Viserys didn’t change his mind. Rhaenyra swore on her mother that she had not lost her maiden head.
Ngl, when Alicent gave Crispin her snot rag (lol), it was kinda cute. Probably bc it was the first time I’ve seen him smile since season 1. Still don’t like him tho, shout out to the actor 😂
Love it, another great video❤😂 I’ve also decided that the guy playing Alicent’s brother looks like if Gwendolyn Christie and Michael Fassbender had a child. Side note: Rhaenys’s line, “I would remind this council that my niece wears the crown of my grandsire, The Conciliator, the greatest and wisest of all kings, whose reign outlasted all others…even Aegon the Conqueror.” will go down as one of the best lines of this season and a highlight of the Power Of Rhaenys’s Allegiance. She may never have been Queen herself, but she gives incredible council, and also commands a level of respect more akin to her age contemporaries, and she’s sure as hell going to support Rhaeneyra if there’s finally a Queen and protect her from her borderline-treasonous council.
The last clip of baela searching for Crispon you can see how they caught the same angle as they did with Luke when he died. Almost as if they wanted the audience think another dragon was going to come in and murk her
