Alicent’s reaction to the septa/Rhaenyra lighting the candle next to her is my reaction when someone sits next to me in public areas when there are plenty of other seats free 😂.

I’m so glad you guys caught the inflection in Daemons tone when he said “they should obey their liege, no matter his condition” he certainly thought of his brothers situation

Moondancer said "Baela babe, I'm sensing a man with horrible vibes down there" and Baela said "Oh, word? Queen cousin/stepmother/futuremother-in-law Rhaenyra said I shouldn't engage...nothing about scaring them though..." and I love that for them. I also like how Moondancer sounds, it's giving aquatic which is a pretty cool way of representing Baela and Rhaena: Dragons (Targaryen) of the sea (Velaryon)

Emma is such a great actor, the sadness on their face when they initially felt their father denounced them broke me.

“I swear this to you, on the memory of my mother”. What Alicent says takes me back to 1x4 when young Rhaenyra swears on the memory of her mother that she’s not been touched in you know what way by Daemon/any man.

The shot of Daemon's perspective finding a place to land at Harrenhal is PEAK!, and the way that whole scene was shot is amazing like a horror film.

Daemon took on a whole army in the 1st season. I’m not concerned with him going in alone.

Yeah the end of the episode is tragic. Both of them realising that it's a misunderstanding and that it's too late to do anything. Wonderful scene. Some people were blaming Alicent again but she did realise that it's an error and she is right. It's too late.

The look when Alicent realizes she messed up...

Alicent heard what she _WANTED_ to hear. Rhaenyra had, just that day, introduced her new babies to her father, her sons by Daemon (whom one could argue are more legitimate hears than Jace and Luke), and the eldest of the babies is ALSO named "Aegon." Yet Alicent didn't consider for even a SECOND that Viserys MIGHT have been setting Aegon above Jace as the next heir after Rhaenyra? And that very day in the throne room, she had seen Viserys reaffirm and (to his mind) FINALLY settle the matter of Jace and Luke being legit heirs of Rhaenyra, and she knew he wasn't in his right mind when she saw him in bed that night. She heard what she wanted to hear. I keep seeing headlines and memes that say things like "If Alicent and Viserys had just named their son Larry, non of this would be happening." But that isn't true. The root cause of all this is that Alicent is sanctimonious and self-righteous in her religion, which differs from Rhaenyra's religion when you get down to it, and that self-righteousness will not let her overlook the fact that Rhaenyra's children are not the kids of the man she was married to. She _CAN'T_ overlook it because Otto was telling her from the time she was 18 that her best friend was going to KILL Alicent's son, that she would HAVE to because that was the only way she would be able to keep the throne. The kingdom would _not_ accept a female ruler, he was adamant about that. Which is EXACTLY why Otto suggested Rhaenyra be the heir to begin with. When Aemma and her son died, Otto saw an opening. He pushed Alicent on Viserys to seduce him, he drove a wedge between Viserys and Daemon, and he suggested putting Rhaenyra up as the heir even though he was convinced himself that the kingdom would not accept her. With Daemon out of the way and a "weak" choice for heir put forward, that meant all that Alicent had to do was give birth to an heir and a spare and Otto's plan would be complete. When Rhaenyra married Laenor and failed to have any kids with him (all that inbreeding can cause infertility) she made the mistake of falling in love with a guy with dark hair and white skin. (I'm still convinced if she had slept with someone from a family full of blondes she could have passed them off; Laenor's kids could easily have been lighter skinned than he was.) Once it was clear that Rhaenyra's children weren't legitimate, that just strengthened Otto's hand, and Alicent was already afraid for the lives of her sons. The righteous anger she developed that her legitimate sons might die in order for bastard sons to inherit the throne is understandable, of course. And the really tragic part is that Rhaenyra would never have sought to kill the children of her best friend, but Otto made her think that. Otto Hightower is the man at the root of all this tragedy; he wanted power, and Viserys was more pliable without Daemon there to back him up.

Just to be clear (and maybe you’ve said it and I haven’t gotten to that part of the reaction yet), that Weirwood tree Daemon is at is NOT the one at Winterfell. He’s indeed still at Harrenhal, and it has its own. It’s not uncommon for castles to have one for followers of the Old Gods. We saw Alicent in front of one at the Red Keep last season.

I hope that Ramin Djawadi gets more awards because the music in this universe is incredible, the last scene is crazy. What a wonderful series

The war started when Otto convinced Alicent Raenyra would kill her children to secure her place on the throne.

I loved LOVED that last scene. People thought it was dumb and silly, but that's why i love your reactions. You try to understand what the characters are feeling in this moment, and it just shows rhaenyra who has the prophecy, her bloodline and the fate of the people of westeros on her shoulders, is trying her hardest to find a peaceful solution. Yes it was risky, but it is also desperate. Their talk was absolutely necessary, even if the chances were honestly low. The dialogue is so good. And I'm enjoying the arguments and conversations we as a fan base can have, when there's actually good dialogue and writing.

Only seen it mentioned once in the comments, but concerning Daemon’s vision scene: there is a godswood with a weirwood tree in most of the major castles. It’s a grove dedicated to the worship of the old gods, primarily upheld by the north at this point due to the dominating deities of the Seven.

More reasons for Aemond to be more Fearless and Destructive🔥 he's a prisoner of his brother's bullying and still loyal, that's why maybe he could conquer the biggest castle of Westeros, Harrenhal. Plus, Aegon is always depending on Aemond skills too, is a weird brother's relationship 😅

FYI, not sure if anyone noticed, and I haven't read all of the comments, but the three different colored dragon's eggs that Rhaenyra sent to safety with Rhaena and the children, are the eggs that were presented to Daenerys at her wedding to Khal Drogo that eventually hatched to become Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion..

Rhaenyra has tried everything. Now it's time she goes to war. Aegon again proves why he doesn't deserve to be king. He's ridiculous and a bully. I'm excited about next week! Btw I completely agree with y'all about Rhaenys. She would have been an excellent queen! Absolutely enjoyed y'all's reactions and commentary as always.

I saw some book readers complained about Rhynaera going to see Alicent, while, in the book it is an unlikely scenario, the show's decision had been faithful to her character and their relationship. So to me, their meeting makes sense.

Rhaenyra going into Kings landing undercover as a nun and blending in with a crowd of them reminded me so much of Assassin’s Creed games.

The scene of Aegon finding Aemond just makes me sad. Like im sure its pretty cleae Aemond is seeking comfort and praise he never go from anyone before and Aegon ruins it. It just made me sad man i couldnt watch it i had to look away

Definitely not team green but Alicent is dead right when she says it doesn't matter anymore. There isn't a multiverse that exists where Aegon agrees to stop the war and surrender the crown to Rhaenyra no matter what Alicent says or does.

It wasn't a misunderstanding. Viserys, in a delirium because he was dying, let's out a death rattle that Alicent chose to believe had meaning. She knew damn well the man was out of his mind but she ran with it anyway.

Baela saw Coles armor shining...Daemon feeling guilty about having the boy killed, seeing young Rhaenyra speaks volumes I think.. Young Rhaenyra had respect and adorned Deamon and Queen Rhaenyra is disappointed and can't trust him anymore because of his actions. That's how I saw it, Daemon is growing a conscience.

28:04 The dinner with Viserys was just a few days or weeks ago, so It wasn't that long ago when she was last in Kings Landing.

Daemon using the style Your Grace is treason. He is King Consort and his proper title is Prince Daemon. Most viewers missed this detail because they fawn over Daemon and no matter what he does he looks so cool doing it. Lord Simon Strong understood the meaning of what Daemon was doing and that’s why he was so hesitant to use it. Treason is treason.

This intro is SO much better than last season with that stupid blood going everywhere for who knows why. This tapestry concept, I LOVE. Icons being sewn together, woven into the history of Westeros. The stories about these characters that are known to characters in the Game of Thrones time period as flat, faceless icons are coming alive in this series. History coming alive.

I think we should give Emma D'Acrcy all the Emmys. All of them. Throw in an Oscar and a Tony too, coz why the hell not? Their performance throughout was immaculate. We saw a more unsure Rhaenyra, and a more jittery, physically, Rhaenyra, than I think we ever have before. But that last lingering close-up, after Alicent walks away, there's a shift in her eyes. She might as well have said, "Fine. War it is, then." It was so subtle, but it screamed it to me, and I was gobsmacked. Mesmerizing.

Season 1 wasn't biased. It's just how the book is. The book also paints Team Green as usurpers, and it's not biased it's just how the events go on. And Team Green in the book is way less layered, here they have given them layers. And the attention wasn't just on the Blacks, it was both.

The Strong at Harenhall literally wanted ZERO problems. Man just wants to eat. It’s relatable tbh

Alicent is not delusional, nor did she simply hear what she wanted to hear. Alicent was taken as a childbride and forced to have heirs, and her life was taken from her. That alone would make someone want their sacrifice to mean something and for them to want to put their child on the throne. But she didn’t. She only did want Aegon on the throne when she genuinely thought Viserys finally realized that all her sacrifices were worth that dream that HE wanted. In episode 3 Viserys gave an entire speech to her about him having dreams of his son ascending the throne and how much that meant to him. She doesn’t know what the audience knows lmfaooo

18:37 I'm so impressed with Aegon's actor Tom Glenn-Carney. In the book Aegon doesn't sexually assault anyone and comes off more like this season's version of him which is so much more sympathetic. Even though he obviously does awful things it makes more sense why he's doing them and he isn't just evil like a Joffrey or a Ramsey.

My favorite part of the episode is the very end. We see Rhaenyra contemplate what just occurred, when she looks up, it's with the understanding that she is the true queen, and she alone knows all the reasons why. Alicent knows must of it, but only Rhaenyra knows the dream and of it's importance. Brilliant final scene, one of the best in either series.

Also how quickly we forget that Otto and the Small Council had succession plans for Aegon in place for years before Vicerys died. Whether Alicent misunderstood him or not the plan was in place. At this point both Alicent and Rhaenyra are prisoners to circumstances. It’s too late to control events now. The only option is one side surrendering. Would Rhaenyra surrender to spare destruction of the realm? Would Aegon? Would those around them truly allow them to? This entire mess was created by Vicerys.

I actually think that scene kinda proves Daemon point from last episode, still seeking peace after all they’ve taken from you, it makes her look weak like Viserys. 2 of her children are dead bc of them. That should be more than enough

Watching that scene when Rhaenyra gives Rheana her charge of her two younger sons as well as Rheanas little brothers. As well as those 4 dragon eggs and the two hatchlings. I realized that’s something I would love to see happen and that’s when the Egg hatches in the crib with the baby dragon and let’s us see just how the Dragon bonds with its rider. I feel that’s something they could have given us during the first season when either families sides dragon/dragon rider first touch creating there bond in life.

0:57 we have no idea what he is going to do? Daemon has been saying for every episode since S1E10 that he is going to take Harrenhal for Team Black.

Whenever the queen tells Alicent that she forgives her, I think you misread her reaction. The look on her face wasn’t one of She needed to hear that, it was one of realization that her daughter sees her as a factor responsible for the death of the child and the gut punch that comes with it, she just never saw it that way before because she was too concerned about getting outed for what she was doing with Cole.

What? Daeron (and now also Tessarion) mentioned again in this episode? Let's gooooo 🗣️🗣️ Perhaps we might get a short glimpse of him by the end of the season. (I'm being delusional 😬 knowing too well that Ryan kept him for S3)

When I saw the initial shot of the Battle of Burned Mill, I immediately said out loud, "This is the Night King's wet dream."

There are multiple weirdwoods all over Westeros guys... Not just the one Bran went too, which was notably huge. Winterfell, Kingslanding, etc. Harrenhall was notably constructed from the wood of a whole lot of Weirdwoods. And the castle sits next to a lake with an island full of them.

I'm I the only one ? or no reaction channel recognized Diana in that tavern scene. The one whose bum was slapped and looked like she had PTSD from it. (understandably so) Since she is the maid that Aegon II SA(ed) and had Plan B tea and hush money from Alicent. The poor baby even had to serve Aegon and he didn't even recognize her but she seemed like she was holding back her sobs. 😭

The council had already made plans regardless of what King V. meant on his deathbed.

You should be careful to interpret with what Helaena speaks. When she said "I forgive you" to Alicent, it also has a meaning that Alicent is about to do something crazy in the upcoming episodes or seasons and Helaena is willing to forgive that!

I just thought about this rhaenyra could literally prove that it was a story because it’s LITERALLY printed on the dagger that her dad showed her when you hold it under a flame it’s literally written on it but aegon has tell her to go do the same thing

The council was planning to usurp the throne regardless of Alicient - so even if she realized she was wrong, it doesn't matter because Otto and the lot were putting Aegon on the throne regardless.

The producers have confirmed that 3 of those dragon eggs that Rhaenyra Targaryen sent away with Daemon's daughter along with her two babies are the same dragon eggs that belong to Daenerys in Game of Thrones. 😉

"a terrible war is looming. even a victory may be so bloody as to be counted as a loss..." alicent saying its too late and just walking away, resigned, accepting war against someone who was once her best friend is painful. nothing left to do now but the killing and the burning. what a fucking tragedy.
