Is doesn't make any difference that Alicent knows she made an error, still. Let's not forget that the Greens council had already made their plans to usurp the throne. They were just waiting for the King's death.

I believe with 100% of my being that Daemon never truly intended a child to be killed. The plan was to kill Aemond if possible, the scene where Aemond picks up a gold Dragon coin the assassins dropped in his bedchambers proves that, but move on to another of royal blood if that doesn’t work. However, Blood & Cheese were supposed to fail. Daemon had no way of knowing that Criston Cole would be fucking the dowager Queen instead of guarding the Royal wing. It was about sending a message. ‘You can get to us, we can get to you’. Daemon is genuinely haunted. Harrenhall is canonically haunted AF and people dream of truths they dare not speak aloud. I tell you, every moment of this show is like a gift to those of us that love the world of ‘A Song Of Fire & Ice’!!. Edit: My point isn’t that he didn’t order it the killing of the child, he clearly did, it’s that it wasn’t supposed to succeed. The plan makes no real sense on its face. Daemon is ordering the assassination of one of the most legendary fighters in Westeros or the Royal heir protected by the other best fighters in Westeros, and who does he task with this monumental undertaking? A few high priced sell-swords? A couple of legendary thieves and cutthroats? A Faceless Man? No, he chose two completely disposable villains whose skill set in no way was adequate to the task set them. Daemon has every nefarious contact possible and these are his two choices? No, they were supposed to fail, but send a message through their thwarted attempt. ‘Look how easily we can get to one whom you hold dear’. Such a message isn’t without historical precedent. Aegon the Conqueror himself agreed to a humiliating peace deal with Dorne after the Prince of Dorne handed him a letter with details of his son and heirs bedchamber showing that an assassin had infiltrated the Royal keep (based on hints George R.R. Martin gave in a discussion it’s believed the assassin was a Faceless Man). Daemon knows his Targaryen history, he’s been shown numerous time reading tomes of it, so he must know that story. Again I must point out that the killing was only allowed to happen through random chance. Anyway, that is my long winded opinion. You’re welcome to disagree.

one of the many cool scenes in this episode is daemon getting dragon dreams / visions by the weirwood tree in harrenhal which is known to them as a haunted place. this is a reminder to the viewers that there's magic both with the dragons and the north

My favorite dragon is Dreamfyre. Alicent def realized her mistake but now her hands are tied and it’s too late to fix it. Was anyone else screaming dracarys at their tv screen during that chase scene?! 🔥

The positive thing is that Rhaenyra got her closure. It affirms that despite her want to seek peace while unable to achieve it is mainly because of the things in motion that are now beyond her control. At least she now knows that her fight will not be in vain but rather because of the greater good and ultimately because it was the true last wishes of King Viserys I Targaryen.

I would rather sleep outside than in Harrenhall Castle...so creepy

Rhaenyra finally found what she needed to back her cause from now on she’s going to be resentless about this war and she will fight it 🫡🖤

Also, another thing. This were Viserys's last words: “But you wanted to know if I believe it to be true. Don’t you remember? Aegon … His dream. The Song of Ice and Fi- It is true. What he saw in the North. The Prince That Was Promised. The Prince. To unite the realm against the cold and the dark. It is you. You are the one. You must do this. You must do this." For us, as we have the context, Viserys's words were crystal clear. A continuation of Rhaenyra's talk when she asked him for help that one night. To Alicient, this words obviously made little to no sense, and she could only scramble for a meaning because Viserys said "Aegon". Then she let her own desires and Otto's manipulations fill in the gaps and conclude that Viserys meant for Aegon to be King. "A bit of a stretch" would be a euphemism, but he was weak and ill, wasn't he? He may have worded things in a confused way. Bet that, now that Alicent knows the full context of those words, she put 2 and 2 together real quick, figured that Viserys confused her for Rhaenyra in his last moments, and his words now make a lot more sense. Must have truly been a powerful "Oh ... I messed up BIG TIME ..." moment for her.

Fun fact: Lord Samwell Blackwood, who's mentioned as having died in the Blackwood-Bracken fighting, was the little kid who proposed to Rhaenyra back when she was on her 'find a suitor' tour. He killed a Bracken for insulting him then, and its been mentioned multiple times in the council meetings that those two houses are just always fighting. Them declaring for different sides in the civil war probably had way less to do with which side they agreed with and more so just them loving disagreeing with the other house

I love love LOVE Moondancer and Seasmoke. I always have a soft spot for silver, glistening, fast, smooth looking dragons. They're both so cool. Moondancer has like a marble texture, and seasmokes white, gray and red is just so beautiful. They're almost winter dragons.

I know alicent wasn’t immediately responsive to what rhaenyra told her, but i honestly think she’s going to see the light before the season is over. Rhaenyra has opened her eyes now, and ultimately alicent won’t be able to ignore that, even if she tries.

Yes, Alicent realized she was wrong at the end, but she also realizes it never would have mattered anyway becauae the rest of the Council was going to usurp Rhaenyra anyway. But, it was nice to see a character say, "tell me what they said, exactly" rather than be stupid and vague for the sake of manufactured, unnecessary, frustrating drama...

I honestly don’t understand how Rhaenys can say that Otto Hightower wouldn’t have approved of the attempt against Rhaenyra, when we all know that is exactly what he wanted to do immediately after the death of Vicerys. 🙄🙄

My favorite dragon is Balerion, hope we see him some time in the future, esp from when he was still a smol bby dragon during the time Daenys the dreamer foresaw the doom of Valyria. This episode i feel like is the calm before the storm. Now Rhaenyra has a strengthened resolve to fight for her throne and won't have any reservations anymore.

To answer the favorite dragon question, it would be either Drogon, or Rhaenys' dragon Meleys.

This season is building up to something big! We are going to be blown away, I think! And yes, the writer confirmed that three of those eggs are Daenerys' from GoT !!!

When Daemon is searching through the halls of the castle you can hear voices in the background. Harrenhal is near The Gods Eye where the old Gods still prevail and maybe the children of the forest. You can see the roots of the Weirwood tree running through the stone of Harrenhal. The Old Gods live here.

Even if Alicent wanted to change things…she cant. It is too late. Bloods been shed and children on both sides were killed

Favorite dragon is Caraxes! No other like him - just way cool!

The slow build up is antagonizing but so good at the same time. The payoff over the next four eps is going to be amazing

Alicent can't change anything anymore, even if she wanted to. She does not have the influence and power to do so (If it were different, she would try it, I'm sure, because she is someone who repents). That's why it's too late. Against all the haters here, it was made very clear again that Alicent put her son on the throne out of conviction and not because she heard what she wanted to hear. She did not know the story of ice and fire and therefore had no other reference to the name Aegon than her son. Now there is no way back. Her son will not let the crown be taken away from him and his subordinates will not allow that. She can't do anything. In addition, it was made very clear in the last episode that Alicent's sons no longer listen to her thanks to Otto. This was literally the topic of the conversation between Alisant and Otto. Btw Alicent lets her friend go. The war could have ended right here in Hightower's favor. And never forget that Otto implanted the idea in her in season 1 that all her children will die when Rhynera becomes queen. Seasmoke is restless because his owner is still alive and unreachable for him. The bond between dragon and rider lasts until the rider dies. And as far as I know, the dragon does not accept a new rider for so long. If you give such hints that actually don't contribute anything to the story, you can assume that someone believed dead will soon become a topic again, maybe even come back.

My favorite dragon is Meleys, the red queen. In Red Dead Redemption 2 I have a horse named after her.

There are several interesting details in this episode. Firstly, the Brackens and Blackwoods. We actually saw a duel between two knights of their houses over Rhaenyra's hand when she was at Storm's End looking for suiters. So this conflict has been building for a time. Also we see that the Blacks have 4 dragon eggs - 3 of which eventually belong to Dany. Out of the younger Blacks, Viserys and Rhaena have no dragons. Aegon and Joffrey have young dragons which are still vulnerable. Also I did notice that the serving girl that was in the bar that Aegon went to is the same one he raped last season. I wonder if they will do something with her character. And we also got another mention of Daeron.

Dreamfyre and Tessarion are my favorites. Dreamfyre and her bond with Helaena is so heartbreaking and beautiful in the books. Tessarion is such a cool dragon. Love her.

I assume a lot of the guards and smallfolk don’t know what the royals look like so that’s why it’s so easy for rhaenyra to sneak in without her face covered, especially since she hasn’t been in king’s landing in a while

The twin's fight was definatly a mirror to the Dance of Dragons. Blood against blood, and no one wins in the end.

Daemon commits treason insisting they call him your grace. He is not the king.

It doesn’t matter what Alicent thinks of thought. Even IF she was on Rhaenyra’s side after Viserys’ death, it would’ve changed nothing because clearly the green council had already planned to usurp her & they did all that without even consulting Alicent. And even back then, with the little power she had, she could’ve done nothing against that, no to mention now where she’s basically wholly unimportant in the eyes of those men.

My favs dragons are Meleys, the red Queen! Fastest one, SeaSmoke he looks like Drogon very much , and MoonDancer for amazing name for the dragon!❤

👻👻👻They did a great job of conveying the mysterious haunted quality of Harrenhall, complete w/bats, charred walls, ghosts, witch, creeping Werewood tree roots coiling around the stones…even the living seem haunted.

This show really goes above and beyond with the special effects The guy that was laying in the water with the sword out of his neck that was not really the actor they did a 3D scan of his face and they 3D printed it and made a fully dressed mannequin like him. I'm pretty sure they probably might have done the same with the two brothers in the grave.

My favourite dragon has always been one we haven't met yet, though she's been mentioned! Daeron's dragon Tessarion - The Blue Queen! Though that may change depending on what she looks like in the show. I never cared much for Caraxes when I read the books but I'm also in love with how they designed him so maybe the show will change my mind!!

Slow BUT amazing episode.

Larys doesn't want to be Hand. He just wants to manipulate Aegon. Being master of whisperers is the perfect role for Larys.

Rhaenys saying the same thing about the start of things "lost to time" to Rhaenera and the Lord of Harrenhall saying the same thing to Daemon about the Brackens was subtle.

Alincenf face truly was like “it was at this moment that she knew she fucked up” 💀

I really like Caraxys but I also love the pattern that Seasmoke and Moondancer have, like a wave rippling out. Ugh all the dragons are just so cool!

I am fully Team Black but last week, I felt truly sorry for Aegon, which was ruined this week with a reminder of who and what he is. That said, Aemond is one of my favorite characters. He's ruthless but he's also clearly very broken. What his brother did to him was brutal. But Aegon's fall is going to be self-created at the rate he is going.

I think that the Septa Rhaenya plan was super reckless and you have to suspend your disbelief for it to make sense for Rhaenyra to take such a risk just to talk to Alicent. Olivia and Emma play so well off each other and have such great chemistry that I'm willing to hand wave it away, but the setup isn't logical. With regards to no one recognizing her, the scenes with Ulf in the tavern and what Mhysaria says are supposed to show that most of the smallfolk don't actually know what the royals look like without the context clues (silver hair, a gaggle of whitecloak guards, very expensive clothes). Her walking through the streets unrecognized while in disguise is at least believable to me, granted that she stays away from Kingsguard or nobles who might actually have interacted with her before and therefore be able to recognize her. I think we should also keep in mind that Rhaenyra and her family haven't been in King's Landing for many years (aside from the day or two where they came to defend Luke's claim right before Viserys died), so more than any of the other members of the royal family, she would be difficult for the general public to recognize just by her face. On top of that, King's Landing is probably the most dangerous place in the realm for her right now, so no one is really expecting her to be there and thus not looking for her. What I don't understand is why Aegon's Prince that was Promised dream/prophecy is treated like such a huge secret by Viserys and now Rhaenyra? What does it matter if anyone else knows? It's a pretty vague prophecy that just seems to affirm the Targaryens on the throne, it's not clear to me why they act like only a trusted few can know about it.

You have to remember that the counsil already had a plan to name Aegon king, Alicent saying that Viserys changed his mind didn't change anything, just made it easier. So when Alicent said that it's too late, rather than refering to correcting Viserys decision, I think she acknowledges the misunderstanding and that Viserys didn't change his mind in his last breath, but that even if she hadn't said anything on that day everything would've unfolded the exact same way. The truth no longer matters, the vicious cycle of war has already begun, just as they showed between the Blackwoods and the Brackens. This will be their last moment of humanity and kindness, as their paths lead to fire and blood.

Honestly what's the point? Alicent should just walk in and say, "Hey actually viserys was speaking of Aegon the conqueror, not my son or Rhaenyra's, everyone drop ur swords." I loved the scene for its emotional impact on seeing them both together again but at this point there is really no retreat.

The fact that a male full frontal is still shocking to people when we have been seeing completely naked women on both this show and GoT for YEARS perfectly highlight that double standard in the industry. Love that it's starting to balance a little bit more. Great reaction btw, as always.

Rhaenyra had it reaffirmed to her that Viserys never stopped protecting and supporting her so she will fight without any doubt, knowing that her throne has genuinely been usurped. Alicent, however, now knows she has no way to excuse what her family will do to steal Rhaenyra’s throne - her father and the other Green Council members were always planning to usurp the throne, she was the one who was kept out of the loop - the difference is, after that conversation with Rhaenyra, that Alicent can’t excuse what her family does to keep Aegon on a throne that Viserys never wanted him to have. We saw how Alicent’s guilt over Jaehaerys affected her in the last episode: she’s going to unravel very quickly.

Oh and Nikki and Steven, I think you missed something. I have not read any of the books at all, but I think it was clear that Daemon is no longer rallying forces for Rhaenyra,. He wants the throne for himself. He's now the third player in the war, he wants to be king, as per his correction when he spoke with lord Strong at Harrenhall.

About Joffrey and 'she can't predict the future', there is a family member in Kingslanding that can, another Targaryan predicted the destruction of Valeria and Aegon the Conquerer foresaw another Long Night. So predicting the future is a family trade.

The first scene, with Blackwoods and Brackens. They are 2 houses with an ancestral hostility. They hate each other and they don't even know why. If you ask a Blackwood he will tell you a story and if you ask a Bracken he will tell a completely diferent version. They don't know why they hate each other, they only know they hate each other. The scene started with 2 small groups arguing but everything scalated into a massacre. That type of situations are very common with that 2 houses. They are the ancestral pain in the arse of every Riverlands supreme lord or king from thousands of years ago.
