I am absolutely LOVING Bethany Antonia's portrayal of Baela Targaryen. She really does have a fire to her, and I think her chemistry with Harry Collett as Jace makes their scenes together so captivating & fun to watch. She's quickly becoming a favourite character of mine. I hope we get to see a lot more of her! (no book spoilers please 🙏🏻)

Another reason Alyssa could be on Daemon's mind is she was Meleys' rider before Rhaenys. Or you know, Daemon could just be pregnant and that's why he's getting weird sex dreams.

Hmm 🤔 Allicent's contingencies: husband Viserys, father Rhys Ifans, Larys Strong, Ser Criston Cole, her sons, her daughter & grandchildren... I think she was set-up nicely; Unfortunately each insurance policy has been cashed-in, and she didn't anticipate just how ambitious Aemond actually is. Which one could argue is her true failure: not preparing Aegon & Aemond properly.

I'm not fan of Daemon's arc in Harrenhal this season, but I know the arc will improve.

Daemon is having those hallucinations because the wood of the bed and the scaffolding of harrenhaal are made from the Wearwood trees from the first men. That’s why he’s having those psychotic episodes.

Aegon - "What would you have me do?" Rhaenyra - "What would you have me do?" Alicent - "What would you have me do?" You do not become king or stay king by not knowing what to do. Aemond is the only one that doesn't get all emotional in his decision making, he realizes that revenge is a dish served cold.

Rhaenyra’s handmaiden was called Elinda and wears the sigil of House Massey if you wanted to know her name.

As soon as they said bastard dragon riders, book readers screamed Nettles. One of the few actual black characters in the books who is a dragon rider and hinted at in the books she has red witch like magic too.

Alicent did have the council in theory, though. Cole, Larys, and the Maester were a majority. But, I think Larys and Cole flipped for justifiable reasons.

Aemond wouldn’t hurt his other siblings, he only did aegon because aegon is horrible and was horrible to him growing up and still occasionally is and is unfit to rule. Aemond has more humanity than daemon and his advantage is his youth, proximity to the king and his dragon but overall daemon is still the colder wilder character

I'm over Deamon's arc but hopefully it gets better and the pay off make it all worth it

definitely a slower episode dealing with the fallout of last weeks banger, I feel it’ll be better on rewatch w/ next weeks episode or a binge with the season as a whole after the finale. I’ve noticed that the episode that haven’t adapted moments from the book (episode 3 & 5) have been my least favorite but not sure why that is given I enjoyed the first season so much throughout

If I was a Targ bastard and was offered to ride a dragon, I would refuse so quickly their heads would spin. The dragons are the symbol of the royal family. Am I supposed to believe they won't turn against them once the war is over? The only way to break the bond with a dragon is death. Daemon killed his own wife and his nephew's son. He would absolutely kill the bastards after the war to keep the dragons exclusively in the royal family.

this one was a bit slow for me.... i expected more from this episode~ just my opinion, now have to wait till next Sunday T_T

Definitely a slower more atmospheric episode. One of my favourite parts was the council meeting after they give power to Aemond and it’s just a continuous shot of Alicent with everyone else talking in the background. Olivia Cooke acted the hell out of that scene without saying a single word.

Daemon’s arc in Harrenhal is going nowhere. Not to mention, the sex scene between him and his mother was unnecessary and another example of something just for “shock value”. There were a million other more affective ways of conveying the message that Daemon feels guilty over his mother’s death.

In the books, 📕 Nettles was a serf who rode a dragon.

This season makes me miss Daenerys. She would have taken care of business already. What a good character she was, and actually come to think of it now. She is the reason I kept watching the whole series until the end.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who loved the deliverance of Jacaerys' "bent knees" line. So good.

I'm so glad you talked about the blue steel Jacaerys had going on. It made me do a double take. I was like "Is he doing duck face?" but the reality is, he can totally pull it off. He has some seriously good bone structure and more screen presence than many characters on this show.

Matt Smith’s accents is not regional, it is a super posh non-regional aristocratic accents. As Brit big irony about game of thrones series that is loosely inspired by British history and culture is that actors from the north of England play characters from the south and actors from north play characters from the south Matt Smith and Cersei actor are from the north Jon snow, Theon are from the south

Matt Smith is from Nottingham. They have what is considered a Posh accent.

Matt Smith grew up in Northamptonshire, which is kind of the crossroads between the south and the midlands of England. So I guess the accent is a not quite southern england, not quite midlands, a mix of the 2.

Daemon’s accent sounds like the actors normal accent, just with a little posh tweak here and there lol. Northampton/London like myself I believe.

I will be honest whenever I see Daemon on screen I just skip 😅 I truly don’t care about this part of the story and nothing made me go “Wow I want to know about what is going on more” for me this part of the story just could be cut out and give screen time for dragons 😻

Sourcing the “bastards bench” will back fire (no pun intended). Vesarys warned Rhaenyra that the dragons cannot be controlled. The bastards to be were not raised like the royals. They will not be able to gain the skills that are necessary to appeal to their dragon. The riderless dragons will go rogue.

I thought the episode focused on strategy which was nice to see. Still in to it.

Addam and Alyn's storyline should kick in next episode

They never said bastards. They said sons of Targaryen marriages to other houses, so, legitimate descendants, but married outside the royal house and, for this reason, not having eggs in their cradles, as Targaryens do. Also, Rhaenyra said herself: it's risky, because blood mingled for over a generation, so, more probably these descendants will become dragon food rather than dragon riders... There is no record of bastards. On the contrary, they are hidden. Now, that bastard in King's Landing is on the table, for sure. But that is not what Rhaenyra and Jace are talking about. That will come out some other way.

Pacing is a huge problem for this series. I’ve seen too many commenters mistake ‘pacing’ for action scenes or that character work is mutually exclusive of proper pacing (and that scenes of characters talking translates to character development). Every scene between characters should be offering the audience some new information about that character or information useful for the plot of that episode or the next (since each episode should be about something and properly structured), there shouldn’t be a wasted scene in any of these episodes and yet we’re given scene after scene of Daemon hallucinating the same messages, Corlys struggling with the same doubts, Rhaenyra deliberating on the same crises of conscience, Alicent contending with the same struggles, etc so many scenes are nearly just a reimagining of scenes and conversations that we’ve experienced before. The writers are clearly not providing these episodes with enough story to sustain their runtimes and instead of addressing this or reducing the runtime to compensate, they are instead padding them out with superfluous scenes that are making much of this season feel pointless or pointlessly dragged out.

I personally enjoyed this episode, it was a good breather after what happened the episode before and we got to see our characters making moves on the chest board.

It was a slower episode, but I enjoyed it.

Im sensing a little lack of subtlety lately, clearly one of the themes of the show is women’s relation to power in a patriarchy, but when a character actually says “BUT YOU ARE A WOMAN” it really goes into that heavy handed “telling, not showing” territoy, specially when the female characters are not given meaningful actions to illustrate why they would actually be fit to rule. I also sense a difference between this and george rr martin’s approach to writing female characters in the sense that his female characters are allowed to be flawed, have desires, ambitions, anger, and negative traits that ultimately makes them humans, while in the show the women feel softened and/or misunderstood, and none are actually evil or bad, which feels ironically sexist and demeaning… I do love the show though, but i feel the first season had a sophistication that is yet to be recaptured.

HBO killed Sunfyre to save $$$. Sunfyre doesn't die until later in the books and actually does something really important. Guess another dragon will get that duty.

I’m really trying to stick it out on this show but the lack of action and dragons….we spent season 1 building and now season 2 more building. It shouldn’t take this much world and character building.
