Thank you SO much for making this video, I think I’ve watched it about 6 dozen times so far. My 7 year old and I started baritone uke lessons together last week and when we got home I quickly discovered there’s a scarcity of baritone ukelele tutorials on RU-vid. Your style of teaching is spot-on for what I need right now, I would be absolutely thrilled to see another baritone ukelele lesson from you! Anything other than “You are my sunshine” please....😉
Thank you so so so much for your sweet comment! I really appreciate learning that you're sharing the ukulele experience with your 7 year old. That's a great age to start!! I'll be planning the next bari uke lesson :D
My brother was away in Hawaii for 5 months bc of his job & he bought me a baritone ukulele!! I've been playing it nonstop since he came back yesterday lol please do more!!
I love your vocal register. You hit the high notes beautifully. As a man, I sing baritone, so I'm a little nervous to hit this song. But you've inspired me to give it a try.
Enjoying watching your video on baritone ukulele. I just got mine yesterday and am so very enthusiastic about learning how to play it. I'm an absolute beginner. Thanks for considering all of us who don't even know the names of the strings, much less how to play a chord.
Yes. I need baritone ukulele tutorials. You have no clue how convenient this is. I am not too sure on if you have a video or not (newer subscriber), but would you do a video on how to increase your finger strength (even individual fingers) for barring chords and what not. That is my problem at the moment. I crochet so I get pains in my hands and wrists :/ thanks!!! Much love!!
That’s a great video idea! I don’t have it yet. Thank you so much for the idea and thank you so much for joining this community ❤️ I’m so happy to have you here :)

please, oh please add more baritone lessons. I'm a big guy, 6'05, and I found the smaller ukulele's too small for my hands so I went with the baritone. I love that it will allow me to transition to guitar later but i'm having so much fun with it, in large part to your videos.
caspertoo I've played guitar off and on over the years and I'm looking to buy a baritone ukulele, I'm thinking the solid wood KALA mohagony baritone will be perfect 🌺
Wow! I have recently bought a Baritone Ukulele ands the 1st site I have come to for help on how to play it. Bernadette, thank you so much for your tutorial. Most other sites do not show you how easy it is to play a song like you do. Thank you, Thank You. Dean
Thank you so much queen B! I just received a free baritone ukulele on Halloween! Your friend Terry Carter tricked me with this treat! Anyways! I just learn this song on my new baritone! Thank you! This song is special to me because I'm from Louisiana and grew up in New Orleans hearing this song lots and I always wanted to learn how to play it! A few months ago I learned it on my tenor Uke from one of your tutorials! You're so Awesome! More Baritone tutorials! How about a Christmas song! An easy one! Thank you!
Thank you for this tutorial for baritone ukulele. As you know, there aren't many, and this Really helps. In the few weeks since I started learning to play I have acquired a concert, (Luna acoustic/electric), and a baritone, (Mitchell), with a tenor on order, (Hankey acoustic/electric). The ukulele band I am organizing at my church has purchased three sopranos, a tenor, and a baritone. Thanks for inspiring us. I would really love to see more tutorials for the baritone, as a bass player I guess it's natural for me to go for the lower tones, LOL....
I didn't do too badly. Definitely like to see more. I lived in Hawaii for a few years.... never realized a ukulele was so versatile and great for popular music.
I have seen a couple of your videos but I just purchased a ukulele about 2 hours ago and they only had two. One was the Kala Makala which had a nice deep sound, but I took the Kala BEM which costs just a bit more, but the action was slightly better as was the sound. They were both on display, so maybe the other needed some attention or new strings. What a coincidence.... and now I am going to try and follow along.
Ive been watching your finger technique like Am to C and have found it very helpful. Thanks for making everyones day in these difficult times X. Adrian from England.
Great Tutorial. Which strings are on the Lanikai? I just know some where silver wrapped. I became for the next Baritone Challenge, you would make it great.
I should seriously get a baritone uke. I play guitar so i would be so easy. PS you vioce is to nice you should do some covers. Maybe thats what you could do celebrate you next view milestone.
It looks like you are not using the bottom sting on the F or is it just how you are holding your hand. I find that cord difficult. I really liked how you showed a few different styles of playing the song.
Great tutorial! Hi I'm new to learning stringed instruments and have been playing a concert ukulele for a few months now. I recently acquired a 4 string Cigarbox Guitar tuned DGBE. Could I apply what you've taught in this video to my cigarbox?
Love House of the rising sun🌺I'm thinking maybe Irish 🍀 and Scottish folk songs will sound awesome on the baritone ukuleles too❓oh is it oooca lay lee and not U Kay lay lee❓
The baritone has the same strings as the bottom 4 on a guitar. The difference is that the guitar has a much larger body and most have streel strings so you get a sound that is louder and lasts much longer(less plinky).
Hey Bernadette! If you're looking for feedback about doing songs for the baritone, I think that would be fantastic. I just recently got one and I love it. And there is a Facebook group I go to where a few people have gotten baritones. I find myself "translating" in my head from baritone DGBE to regular GCEA and back as needed, I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. I'd like it to become more automatic.
Hi Nick! Thank you, I’m happy to make videos for the baritone ukulele :) When I play baritone ukulele daily, I find myself making the chords automatically. When I stop playing it, I do have to think harder and translate
Bernadette Teaches Music I had a feeling it would work that way. So I'll practice both every day 😁. I can't imagine going to something totally different like a mandolin!. You have a nice speaking style, very relaxing.
great can you tell me if you have all four strings with nylon or something different.I'm planning to buy a bari but would like to know if the nylon is easier to play thanks very much
I'm not sure if you'll see this but I'm wondering why when you show E7 its different from the E7 on my charts (its just the first fret pressing the G cord only) am I crazy, my charts wrong or is it there something I don't see? Thank you for the tutorial I'm happy someone is doing them its hard to find help with the baritone uke.
To show me how to finger Pan are supposed to go because I cannot make cent had heads or tails of it from the description and a little diagrams there I need to know which one
Don't give up! This was me about a few months ago but now it's super easy and I love how it sounds. Try practicing holding the bottom 2 strings on the first fret with your first finger then adding the other ones.
Thanks Mimi...I'll give it a shot. It's tough, and I have long fingers! Trouble is keeping the first finger flat while simultaneously having to arch the other two fingers so I can get to the other frets without dampening the wrong strings. I'm thinking of finding the "f" note on each string so I can have 4 "F" note options, lol...
