The swivel lamp is genius. I love Ikea lamps. My apt is more traditional or transitional style. In the corner of my living room, I have a large white bulb shaped Ikea lamp that looks like flower petals. It's fun and whimsical- just the right touch.
Very impressed with how beautifully she designed her space. The layout of her furniture in the big main room is perfection. I feel the same way about her decision to turn the “eat-in” portion of her kitchen into an office! Very smart choice! The hanging of her mother’s art is very special and a lovely addition to the space. I really want those dining room chairs she found! They are soo unique! Overall, I love her home! Bravo!
That kitchen counter that converts to a standing desk is great, my favorite. I also love the variety of chairs and the different art/tapestries, brings the apartments to life.
Love love the unique vintage furniture pieces!! 😍 You’ve also done a great job fashioning storage pieces to make use of every space. Beautifully done!!
I would LOVE to have this apartment built as a small home on a foundation. It's perfect! What makes it so special are all of the original built ins that give the space so much character. You just do not see that in current built homes. They are all so sterile every room is just four blank walls-just absolutely hideous. I'll try not to mention gray paint everywhere, gray LPV (LOL) floors and dark gray painted kitchen cabinets. Aka-ugly! This is the warmest, well-designed and perfectly laid out for the way we live today. Loved the video tour-the apartment is filled with her loves and it shows! Great job!
Your space feels good to me too! I love that everything is beautiful, has a story, and feels totally lived in. It's radiating homey energy in the best way.
In all the home tours, I definitely resonate with your space the most! From all the personal items and trinkets to the diy but very design influenced corners! You have such a good eye with color theory as well!!!! Well done!!!
Wow, I feel like I am watching myself at a much younger age😉 To me, it seems that we share the same taste. I also love to creativly problem solve my decorating needs. I also collect odd chairs and lighting, I also decorate with branches and rocks. I decorate my walls with family art, vintage photos and collectables. Much of my home is hand me downs, thrifted or free. Thanks for sharing your lovely home and gentle, qircky and unique spirit and keep up the good work of surrounding yourself in beauty and comfort.
I've always wanted to use a paper umbrella to hide my ugly overhead lighting but I havent totally figured out or got around to it, so its cool that she has done it!
I absolutely love what Gretchen has done with her apartment. It does not look like it is only 615 sq. ft. because she has made use of practically every inch of it! She has stored everything she owns very neatly and that also gives an illusion of bigger rooms and closets. She was very creative in her designs. As an example, she divided her kitchen into two spaces, kitchen and office. Everything is so organized. Kudos to you, Gretchen. I can understand why you enjoy being in your apartment; it has been a labor of love to create!
I don’t know what she used, but I use liquid starch. Soak the fabric in liquid starch until saturated, place on the wall and smooth out the fabric, let dry. I add a small fold to the edges to eliminate ragged edges. I think you can find a you tube tutorial if you need more information. When you are ready to take it off, spritz with water and peel off and clean the wall. Very renter-friendly. Good luck!
The BEST lamp light person EVER !! best room = Dining room ...serves so many purposes AND so many "finds" ...more story than "this is the place to shop" ..love that !
Love your apartment, so cosy and creative! I just wonder how you keep such a clean kitchen without smoke and steam exhaust when you cook (I see that a lot in your country).
This was one of THE most inspiring house tours I've ever seen!! 😍 She has such great sense of unique style, has made some genius decisions and really made the most of the space! I love her items, her overall style and also her outlook on decorating your home. ❤ Had to rewatch immediately after seeing it the first time, there was so much good in there. Well done! The only thing I wonder is if it would be possible to have the dining table on the same side of the apartment as the kitchen, but with the cabinet doors it seems tricky. And I'm sure she's considered that, as it would seem more intuitive. Also to have the bedroom and sofa on the same side. But it's a small apartment anyway, so nothing is far away. I hope she has the best and happiest times here.❤
My favorite apartment ever. Love her clever space solutions in the kitchen and bathroom and the way she surrounds herself with what she loves looking at rather than whatever is on-trend.
I-absolutely-love your-space! I have some of the same things going on in mine - curtained doorways, gallery wall behind TV, rolling cart in bathroom. Your collaboration with your dad for the counter-height table is awesome. And your doorway hanging chair is fab. I’m sure I’ll watch your video again, because it’s kinda like being at home. Thanks for the tour and inspiration. 😊
the cutest little apartment wish I knew where these were I’m apartment hunting and only luxury ones keep popping up but I need a family friendly area with good schools close by 😩
Olive green, NOT baby-puke green, LOL. Definitely a favorite tour, so much to love! Thanks for sharing your wonderful design. You had a wonderful base to start with, but you certainly did it justice and enhanced it beautifully. I want to copy your kitchen island storage cabinet with lift up countertop, using fabric as wallpaper and the ikea lamp with added lazy susan. Your chairs are fabulous. I remember seeing the wooden moon piece, I believe my mother had one.
Lots of great design and storage ideas. Your space looks both comfy and interesting. I am curious as to why the living room is next to the kitchen and the dining area is next to the bedroom. IMO, it would make sense to swap them. The one thing that really bothers me about this space is seeing the toilet when you enter the home. Keep the bathroom door closed or hang a curtain in the hallway archway.
Beautiful!!! I feel as you do abt my Home n my design for it!!! Full of comfort n love n pieces that make you smile when you're in those spaces!!! Love it!!! 😊😊😊
How is square footage calculated? I calculated 1296 for my place, and I've got 2 nice full bathrooms, 1 is the master bath room. Walk-in closets. 2 smaller bedrooms, 1 is my "office," and the other is my spare/junk/ relaxation room with TV, lounge chair, old oak claw foot table, dresser, and a 6ft long keyboard thingie that I'm storing for a friend. Dining area which fits 4 comfortably but can be extended. Dining area table is used as a kitchen table. Utility room with washer & dryer, furnace, gardening junk, boots, shelves. Vaulted ceilings. Full entry way which is almost the size of one of my smaller bedrooms. I've got empty kitchen cupboards, several closets. This apartment is cute and functional. I don't have anything but 2 clocks on my walls. Nothing else. Does that stuff make a difference?
Love, love, love your home. It feels so cozy, calm, comfy. I like your eclectic, vintage style. Much the way I decorated my apartment two years ago when I moved into this apartment. I'm still tweaking things. What fun❣❣
The more I watch small space designs, the more I want to downsize. I live in a double wide mobile home. I’m happy here but it’s a lot for 1 person. I lived across the river in Vancouver most of my life. Your space says Portland. The character is wonderful. The chairs in your dining space are awesome!
I love all those diy moments! The lazy susan lamp and that mirror with hinges are some of my favorites! Great job on making your pace super cozy and beautiful!
Love the fabric detail on the wall in the kitchen. The dining room chairs are so cool. And the lazy Susan under the lamp?! So clever!! Love this apartment, great job!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oh, I love your apartment. I wish you were my neighbor cause I have no imaginary or talent. You would’ve just help me fixing my 1490 square-foot Condominium.
I love your home. You’ve really used your space so efficiently. I too enjoy eclectic and lots of color to go with my plants. I have to tell you tho w/o giving away my age, your moon is called “stairway to the stars”. I would be willing to beat there is star somewhere on the moon or it was a separate piece to go with the moon, to be hung close by. 😊 When I was a kid my Granddad made several of these moons (his were quite different) for his children. A few of the grands were lucky to inherit one. So anyway, a little history lesson for you. 😊 Many Blessings!!
Oh, well done. Very warm and welcoming, also a very comfortable and personal space. The use of fabric and the lighting choices are great additions for renters! Enjoy.
This is one of your best videos. I got to see all parts of the space and the house layouts were extremely useful. I was amazed at the closet organization. She could do a video of that alone.
Plusieurs bonnes idées. Une chose que je modifierais, c’est la hauteur des dossiers de chaises. Je couperais la partie du haut, arrondie. Ce serait plus équilibré avec le reste de votre mobilier. Bonne journée de Montréal.
8:06 - I love how you've decorated your home, but please, honey, that is a travel-sized islamic prayer rug that you are using as a "table cloth". Why??? I think you should rethink that idea.
