The makeover turned out beautiful. But, for 200 sf space, I would love to have seen more storage solutions like choosing a platform bed that has drawers in it or enough clearance space to slide in low profile plastic bins. Or a bedside table with drawers.
@Lovezz07
@Lovezz07 Год назад
Yeees! A bedside without drawers seems like an affront in a small space.. You need space to put your personal intimate things..the bench could have been with storage as well, the coffee table-same situation.

@Lovezz07
@Lovezz07 Год назад
@@devilinbluejeansxx8925 yes.. but I guess you don’t keep your devices and their chargers in the closet.. or other intimate things you need besides your bed.. the same with the coffee tables.. it’s nice enough till someone lives there and day by day they will have a lot of crap hanging everywhere cause they don’t have enough drawers.. they shouldn’t rely only on a closet in the hallway that it’s for clothes. Also, this happens every makeover, so you cannot say that everyone doesn’t want storage.. Ag’s design are beautiful but lack functionality and organisation.. she should include that in the designs.. like a coffee table that expends into a dinner table/laptop table when there in no space to have both etc.

Yes! The design and thinking process can be sound, but learning how to pivot when something unexpected happens like an item is stuck in customs, or breaks during installation, or just doesn’t work the way we thought it would is a skill that nobody teaches us. That’s why it’s so good to be able to learn from the example of others, if they’re willing to share their wisdom or mistakes.

As a book and paper conservator, here is my solution to adding the print to the wood: use diluted PVA (You can purchase this in a craft store, anywhere near a bookbinding section) and roll it on the back of the print and on the wood. Let it sit for a minute or so to let it get tackier, and then apply the print to the wood. To smooth out any bubbles, I would use another piece of paper on top of the print to protect it from the flat plastic squeegee thing you were using. Once the PVA is dry, you can apply Mod Podge on top to make it look like "an oil painting" (I'm quite skeptical of this technique but whatever). I would not use MP as the actual glue to glue it to the wood.
@utedosky5298
@utedosky5298 Год назад
I agree. Paper gets wet from the glue and then gets "bigger" (don't know the right word). So when you put glue on the wood and put the dry paper on it, it starts to get wet and you get bubbles. Sometimes the problem is solved, when the paper is dry again, but the best thing is to also put glue on the paper.

Mod Podge is PVA (with additional ingredients). Spray adhesive that needs to get Tacky before joining the items together works very well. Using Mod Podge for a look of a painting works great. Using a brush to follow the print makes it even better. Plus it affords some protection.

Tip for plants in macrame hangers: you can put drip trays under plant pots in the macrame as long as they have a bit of a lip like bowls or dipping plates. I've found plant trays that come with some plastic/terracotta pots fit perfectly into macrame hangers and I've been able to water my plants without removing them from the hangers. Or you can put the plants in simple/plastic pots and put those in decorative pots/bowls without drainage holes (add some spacers between the plant pot and decorative container with something like tile samples or flat stones to add reservoir space for the excess water to drip into).

I love all team AG videos and I really want to see more functional, 2 in 1 pieces for small apartments like this desk Graham made. Some pieces are just beautiful like that side table or coffee table, but no drawers, no functionality.. There are so many great pieces out there like expendable coffee tables into a dining one, a bench in front of the bed with storage, night tables that can actually hold and hide personal/intimitate items. Functional, multi purpose furniture can be beautiful too and it's a must in a tiny space (speaking from experience) 🤗

That is a beautiful room. For the plants, a simpler solution would be to double pot them. Put the plant in a smaller plastic pot with drainage. Place small rocks on the bottom of your decorative pot that doesn't have drainage, and set the plastic pot on the rocks inside the larger decorative pot. The rocks allow enough space so the plant doesn't sit in the excess water that drains out of the inner pot.

they also don't seem like the type of plants that should be hung, and the thing on the floor was very clearly a temporary thing she uses to water them all and drain them without getting water all over... i feel like it would be helpful to both her and the viewers if alexandra learned a bit more about plants before designing with them!

Hi Alexandra! The Mod Podge project... you have to midst the back of the poster with water, let it absurd evenly and then* put it on your wood you've applied Mod Podge to. Water makes all the difference! Great idea!
@monaliestalquistgylderud1162
Yep, was going to say the same thing as you: wet the paper
@2touchme2
@2touchme2 Год назад
A thinner paper would be better but with this one water is definitely needed. Plus, way more Mod Podge.
@sosexymagazinerobinwatkins8467
I really appreciate that the people in this particular part of the chat actually offered a real solution as opposed to being negative about it or acting like they don't understand why would you mod podge! There are hundreds of videos out there dealing with modge podging and they're great The process looks like it's a wonderful thing...So why not offer ways to solve it as opposed to coming in to chat and just being like "Oh she had no need to use modge podge at all". , 🫣Come on! Thank you for your input.

Well done! She's lucky to have a large balcony, where she can create a little sanctuary, with a sitting area, fountain, lights... I live in Ontario as well and you can get a good 5-6 mos of use out of that space. I gotta say, because the space is so tiny, it's a little disappointing not having extra storage room, under the bed

I would not want plants over my sofa unless they are fake but I like the idea of how they are hung, though! The desk is amazing! Using books for decoration and putting things on top of them is not my thing, Also not a fan of mirrors at the bed (bad Feng Shui), but at least it is not oposite the bed and I can see how it does make the space look bigger and brighter so I understand why you did it! I always enjoy your videos, please don´t read my comments as bad critique, it is just about what i personally do or don´t like ;) In the end it is about learning and getting ideas and the client always love it! That is what counts!

You and your team did an amazing job! The vibes are very much like the AD video, with two, probably three exceptions. To relieve all the natural tones there was a mustard yellow chair and a pink blanket, but no black. And the sense of quirkiness was missing. This is completely minor of course, the change for the better is incredible!

I like everything except the fact that the plants have to be removed to water them. That would get old really fast! And what if you put them back in the hanger, and then they dripped a few drips overnight…now you have a dirty couch! Add drip trays under the pots in the hanger, or I’ll bet they’re going to go back to living on the drip tray most of the time.

When doing decoupage the paper always bubbles up. Just leave it alone until it dries. Then you can use wax paper on top to iron it down as needed. Add more glue and repeat process, then polyurethane
@sosexymagazinerobinwatkins8467
Thank you for sharing. Tell me, what is the wax paper for?
@gwinwebb1009
@gwinwebb1009 Год назад
@@sosexymagazinerobinwatkins8467 to keep the iron from sticking to the glue. I often put a thick layer of wood glue on the base, say 3 coats and then put my dry paper on top and then iron on using the wax paper in between to protect the paper. This melts the glue into the paper. Then put the glue on top. It still bubbles up but not as much. I also find that it does better when I leave it for some time in between steps

Hi AG Team. Such a collection of talent and really incredible folks. All problem solvers and with wit and comrades in arms attitude . I too have been a designer for most of my working life and designing my own living spaces. So I appreciate your design skills. Also you have jogged my creativity. I retired about 4 yrs ago from JCP Company after a huge move to Arkansas, working in ready made window coverings and home dept. …before that I put the designer edge to brand new homes in California. Now a very tired Golden Gal! The AG Team has inspired me to reconfigure my living room to an artist’s space . I am an artist and want to do some larger work. Alexandra your bright and great exciting outlook is so refreshing and uplifting. Thank you.

Hello, I am originally from Toronto so I can relate to the size of the apts. You are so lucky to have someone as talented as Graham to work with. He is such a magician with his projects. You all work so well together and don't have a problem suggesting ways to do things to each other. I am getting so many new ideas and using so many more colors in my smaller home. I just bought a pink metal wall shelf with 3 shelves on it. I love it. I don't have much wall space so this helps display my eclectic items. Thank you all for the uplifting videos you make and all those useful ideas.

Great interior ideas!!! What a gorgeous makeover, team AG!!! 18:54 as a technic of decoupage you could make first print wet, paper shrinks with water. Use transparent plastic film on top of paper print. Spray a lot of water on paper, make sure that it takes as much water as could, remove all wrinkles by stretching them out, spread it with fingers from center to the sides. Wood absorbs a lot of moisture too, so you can spray it also before any glue applying. After your mod podge is on the wood you can attach the print to it, , you can operate with it as you want and not afraid that it will tear, rotate or move a little bit, press it down and remove the plastic. No wrinklness! Maybe it helps :)
