Household Baby Shampoo - Car Soap - Does That Really Work? 

SpiritBear12 dish soap does strip wax, and can also dry up rubber trim on the car. Car soap is less expensive than dish soap if I remember correctly, so you'd be better served just to buy a bottle of car soap.

Regular shampoo is a soap. Baby shampoo is a weak soap woth glycerine added, no ammonium compounds or dyes. Regular car soap is the same as dry/normal transparent shampoo with no fragrances or conditioners. Buy it at the Dollar Store and that shampoo is lower cost than a "name brand" car soap, and rinses off better. Car wax is a thickened oil, usually hydrogenated for more linkage. Clear liquid dish DETERGENT like Dawn easily removes old wax, removes fresh wax with some gentle rubbing. So does weakly acidified rain, which is why car wax today needs to incorporate silicones for endurance beyond a few weeks.

but also be careful about dish soap because some brand add salt to extra shininess and wash a car with salt may cause rust in old painted or bare metal parts of the car

​@@brushlessmicrot Dish soap appears to strip protection in reality it masks any protection or blocks up the pores in protection. Look at forensic detailing dish soap came up worse that anything in decon tests . At best it slowly degrades it .

No. You DON"T HAVE TO brush your teeth every time you eat either. It depends on your personal priorities. Car paint care does not really make a car a more useful transportation appliance. It can have an effect on resale value and on what people think about your hygiene. Other than that, it only has an effect on your self-image. If you are like most people, you will never notice the kinds of minor paint imperections that cat nuts obsess over. You will notice peeling paint and rust spots on a relatively new (less than 5 years old) car. If you don't plan to keep a new car for more than 5 years, live in a rural area that's free of trees, sand, you don't drive on expressways and you wash a non-metallic solid light colored car frequently, you may not need to wax it. Water spots aren't obvious on a white car, hose it down each week and ignoire it. Waxes and sealants are designed to stopfine particulants from scratching the paint, and to some extent, protect the paint from UV degredation and acid in rain, bird feces and insect guts. UV makes dark paints and clearcoat degrade. Acid will eat into clearcoat and make a rough porous surface on a one step solid color paint. Bird dropping on a paint protected only by wax will eat through to the paint in an hour when the weather is humid. Wax is a temporary barrier. It degrades quickly, lasts less than a month, so if you don't apply it that often, it's pretty much a waste of time. If you are lazy or time pressed, you will have someone clean off your paint once a year, claybar it if it is rough to a baggie, apply a sealant, and visit a "contactless" car wash every few weeks. Car wash wax won't really help your point, so save the money.

We probably have several car soaps and we grabbed different bottle at the end of the video. I can't remember for sure, but I bet that is what happened.

Jimmy Mac I use a silicone free soap since we are usually painting. To just wash a car there are a lot of good ones. I really like 3M's car soaps.

Imagine if they used real human babies in their test labs,and it did have negative results. At the end of the day handing the kid back to its parents covered in blisters ect...."Sorry Mrs Smith but our soap needs to be a bit more gentle, we mixed in too much detergent, your kid should be fine in a couple of months"....I guess thats why they use animals,doesnt make it right all the same.

Bad reasoning based on a false assumption. Animal testing does not assure human safety. Animal testing is done primarily to determine if there is an intended effect, not to assure safety. Many substances that seemed to have no deleterious effects on lab amimals have been withdrawn years after approval by the FDA for prescription use by the general public. Dogs, cats, apes and hiumans react differently to the same substances, and vary in their reactions within each species. Read the adverse effect on a topical insect repellent made for use on dogs. If a drug sold to humans had consistently fatal effects on 0.5% of the users, it wouldn't be approved for use. Cigarrettes were tested on animals, but thier cancerous effects didn't manifest because of the short lives of to test subjects compared to humans. Animal testing is done because it's cheaper and they don't have lawyers to complain to. You can't put 20 people in cages for 6 months and on restruicted diet and activity regimens, then disect the ones who die to see what the results are. Unplanned birth shelter dogs atre plentiful. I probably hate this more than most people. When human trials are done, male prison inmates, college students and low income civilians between the ages of 21 and 35 are used for most, including for drugs that are prescribed for children, women and seniors. Most new products are ones found by discovering a side effect that is marketable. Many are incapable of being tested on animals because of differences in biology. There aren't lab animals that have progressve baldnesss to test Rogaine.
