The Household Cavalry regiments - the Blues and Royals and The Lifeguards- were on summer holidays in Scotland, and came to Yellowcraig Beach on two separate days to have fun. And have fun they did!
This was my Grandads Regiment. He fought in the first world war. He loved his horses 🐎. He would sleep at their feet to help keep them calm. When the bombs were going off. Our dad told us a lot of great and sad stories about our grandad in the war.Ty to all of our Armed Forces who keep us all safe. Ty from Glasgow Scotland.
@anni50ful Maybe they both knew each other with being in the same regiment. Did you also know that the regiment fought at the somme. My dad told us some great and bad stories about what happened to the soldiers.
@brendapurvis4803 what a sweet memory. Your Grandad sounds like he was a wonderful man. My Granddaddy Woolfolk was in the USMC during WWI, also a caring man. No matter where they were from, they don't make 'em like they used to. Thanks for sharing that wonderful memory.
@scottishhellcat Ty. Here's another story. When the war was over when my grandad got home. His uniform was covered in lice and fleas. At the back of the close where my great grandparents lived there was a big white ceramic sink he got stripped off and scrubbed himself clean with a bar of soap and cold water got dried and put on his clean uniform and went up the stairs to see his mum and dad. Two of my grandads brothers were killed in the war. My grandad got gassed to.
@@anni50ful Ann have you tried searching Ancestry UK or Find my past they both have military records you can do a free trail and if there are records to be seen you can do a months subscription and get all records held.
I hope this stops the ridiculous comments and accusations about the I’ll treatment of these wonderful horses. Riding bareback sorts out the riding skills 😂 Pony club and gymkhanas were a great way to start kids out having fun while learning to ride well. Took me a few tumbles but you do learn. It’s much easier with a saddle and stirrups. Reminds me of why I’ve had a life long love of horses ❤Magnificent animals. Easier to love than many humans. 😂
And a lot more cleverer than humans as well! They are beautiful majestic beasts, and are in excellent condition too! The riders and horses deserve this on a regular basis, as it cannot be much fun having to stand for an hour, being poked and prodded by the tourists, who seem to think that this is a Tourist exhibition, and should be reprimanded for becoming fed up with all the inane touching they have to endure! Lets hope that England overcomes ceremonial "duties" and their King, arranges that the horses are thought more of, and protected! I am neeither English or British, but animal welfare should be "Universal"
@@margaretsmallallan28 ... Good gracious did you actually watch the horses and their excellent treatment and realise how happy they are? Instead of watching lovely British footage of well treated horses I suggest you look around your local area and ACTUALLY HELP those ill treated animals.
Thanks for this , great to see horses and guards having so much fun and freedom a relief for them all from ceremonial and guard duties . For all the so called armchair " experts " who accuse the guards of being poorly trained and bad horsemanship watch this please . Now this is what you call a holiday !!
Well I have no experience of horses but how on earth can people claim that when the guys and girls are riding bare back so no stirrups etc to control the horse other than their own legs. It was amazing to see the joy on both riders and horses.
Especially after the great job at the King's Comenoration (?) in Scotland and all the prep they would have had to do, not forgetting transport up from London. Well done.
They did a wonderful job on 6th....EDinburgh Mile is either uphill or down, old cobblestones and it had been raining....very concerning...but they made it safely by going slower. Just ask any piper who had to do this, play at the same time (not to mention embarrassing) and they can tell some tales....goes really for all those soldiers who have to march.....not for the faint of heart and they usually make it look effortless.
So many wonderful moments in this video. At 6:00 the absolute happiness of the rider cannot be beat. The horses racing on the beach and the ones coming from behind to win is spectacular. I am recommending these videos to friends for the pure joy they bring.
Absolutely wonderful to watch guards and horses having such fun! I get anxious though when they get in the deep water. These men, women and beautiful horses are the pride of the UK! I’m American, but I feel like I know them all from watching the videos and I’m just as proud of them as a non-Brit can be. Thank you for this brilliant video! Great job!
It's a indicator of the trust the mounts have with their troopers that they will allow them to be taken into quite deep water without panic, but that will be above most peoples observation. Unlike Holkham Beach in Norfolk, their usual summer camp HQ, there is some nasty undercurrents at this beach which need to be considered, the trooper may not feel them but his mount certainly will. Interestingly, the Regiment has just been issued with the new Ajax armoured fighting vehicle for its other "operational" role.
Oh what a sight, so exciting to see. Such beautiful horses, having a well deserved break. The grooming will be fun after all that salt and sand!! Fantastic I hope we can see more videos like this. 👋🇬🇧
I recognize some of the guards from Horse Guards videos. Several of those magnificent Horses are familiar also .I only know Arnie by sight and name. Unfortunately. Those horses are "ROCK STARS" and very tolerant of the disrespectful tourists. This was a joyful video. Thank You from Chicago.
Hope they took poor Arnie there for a break....He just needs space around him (like 2ft) and cannot be blamed for biting as some of the tourists are clueless and cruel.
The normal holiday venue for the Household Cavalry and where they have their summer camp is Holkham Beach in Norfolk. There is plenty videos of the horses at play in the sea as well as the beach going back many years. These are the only places where they can practice a line abreast cavalry charge at the gallop, or near to the gallop. As a matter of interest, if you enter into the Search Box above, "British Army new AJAX armoured fighting vehicle" this is what the Household Cavalry have been issued with as their new toy for their other field "Operational" role........when they don't have their horses!
Great to see everyone having lots of fun, brilliant to see the horses running so freely a welcome change from London streets, not forgeting the boys and girls having such freedom without a uniform in sight. I also thought the music was very good too.
USA here.....that was absolutely fantastic, reliving the "charge of the Light Brigade" full gallop down the beach....then bareback riding into the deep...the horses and the riders seemed to be enjoying both...thank you🐎🐎👍👍
That was just Sublime to watch what fun you all had and the horses that was just what they needed. Thank you for the great video and Thank you for your service Godbless you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Wonderful to see the love between rider and horse. I am amazed by the riding skill of these men and women. Lovely to see such enjoyment. I can't stop smiling.
Blockbuster movie! Superb photography and filming. I recognised some of the troopers and the Boss. What a wonderful holiday for all. So good to see the horses and the troopers having such a great time. The locals (and the handsome dog) must have loved it all.
I wish I had known they were going to be here. It’s not far from me, I would have loved to have been there. What an amazing video! It was so good to see them all having fun and great to see some familiar faces away from the formality of their usual surroundings. I hope the stupid woman who argued with me that the guards couldn’t ride and had to be led everywhere by a foot soldier sees this video. I hope we get to see much more of the guards and their beautiful horses at play like this.
AMAZING lovely to see the lovely guards an their horses chilling relaxing an having fun just what they truly deserve Brilliant video loved watching ❤❤❤❤❤🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴
Beautiful video! Thank you for showing the guards and horses on holiday. Nothing like a relaxing trip to the beach to bring out the kid in all of us. I’m a huge fan from America.❤️❤️
Nice to see the horses and guards relaxing and enjoying the beach away from the hustle and bustle of London and ceremonial duties. Thank you for posting.
A really heartwarming, great video. Thank you so much, for all your tremendous work over the past few months. All of you, including those beautiful horses, deserve many more moments like this. God Bless you all!
What an amazing and uplifting film, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this well deserved break from their London duties! Beautiful to see, thank you for sharing.
Absolutely wonderful. How lovely to see them ALL enjoying themselves. Lifeguards, and the Blues and Royals. And to see them barebacking riding too. The freedom they must have felt. Terrific.
Fantastic post. Loved every minute and so did the guards and horses. This is such a good way for guards and horses to bond and have a great time, they deserve it. Great filming and pictures. I see Corporal of the Horse in command and happy, he certainly loves his job.❤❤❤
What an incredible video❣️ It's SO good to see those incredibly disciplined horses and riders having such a good time❣️❣️❣️ All of it is just poetry in motion❣️❣️❣️💖💝
Es gibt keine schöneren Bilder von Soldaten und Pferden….. wunderbarer Tag und sicher ein großer Spaß für alle. Danke, für diese schönen Eindrücke👏👏👏👏👏👏
It's lovely to see them on holiday and having fun. They look like ther having so much fun and letting themselves go. All animals with a job need a holiday just to stress release and have fun. Lovely vid. 👍😍❤️
Truly wonderful to watch, people don't realize that the Household Calvary is more than two horse standing in front of the horse guards. It's good to see them having a fun day out. And how much the guards ĺove their horse.
It's weird ey, I mean I'm Aussie through and through but something's always drawn Me to Scotland. My Dad was adopted in the 50's. My Bro did ancestry for My B'day last year, very much Scottish, always thought we were Scandinavian... but there you go lol
Love Household Cavalry. Hope to see them live someday. And I am an American. My dad fought in WWII. He said Great Britain stood alone against the Nazi. Of course with some help from the US but we weren't fully engaged in the battles until after Pearl Harbor.
Love this. The guards and the horses deserve a day to just relax and have a bit of fun. I found myself smiling several times watching this. There were so many beautiful moments here!
When you ride horses in deep water the motion and connection is magical……. I remember it still from my teens and I’m in my sixties now….. You also understand the inspiration for Fairground Carousels with the up and down movements of the carved wooden horses!!! Thank you for sharing
Thank you for this lovely video, I found it sooooo moving!! So amazing to see Horse and rider having fun together on the beach and sea water being so good for their legs.We used to ride on the beach all the time, very fond memories. Great to see them all relaxing.
Wow,that was so beautiful to see the horses and the guards having such a fantastic time,it really warmed my heart, they do such a wonderful job and really deserved the break,we miss you though 🥰🥰🥰😮😮😮😮😮❤❤️
I taught my horse to go in the river and swim with me. Took me 2 weeks and after that she loved it. I would come back from a hot ride , take off her saddle and we went straight in the river. Best days of my life. My beautiful thoroughbred x connemara mare.
I really enjoyed this wonderful video. My late husband and my late father worked with horses and loved them dearly. Watching this video you can see the love the soldiers have for their horses.❤
The horses are beautiful, gorgeous and magnificent. I love watching the videos of the household calvary. God bless the horses, the riders, and everybody else who takes of those magnificent animals. I love them all. God love them all and keep them safe forever.
What great bathing fun for horse and rider. They can really let off steam there. You even think the wonderful horses are laughing too. Simply wonderful and so free. Thank you for this brilliant film. More of it please. You already know some of the horses from the videos where they are on duty. One thing is for sure. They are loved with all our hearts.....❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm from Ct in the USA. I've been a watcher if the Hirse Gurard for a bit now & as a previous horse owber I can tell you that thiswas so much fun to watch both horses & solders relax together. It's a great way to build trust abd bond with your horse. Si very glad it's not all work and no play. Thank you, thank you, thank you fir all you all do❤
This is Yellowcraigs in Scotland, but their normal two to three weeks vacation is in Norfolk at Holkham Beach near their permanent vacation camp. There's plenty of YT videos in you enter, "Holkham Beach & Cavalry".
