That'd been exactly my problem, that'd for sure. My friend always tells me I love them too much and need to start neglecting them more. I'm deff an over water type . As soon as they look sad or something I run to water them !!!! Ugh, Think I'm FINNALLY learning tho...after along time and alot of plant deaths lol

His wasn't in good shape, and would benefit in a larger pot, but it wasn't quite root bound, just very dry. I have also run into the issue with even mildly hard water browning the leaf tips. Found that if I leave my watering spray bottle open for 24-48 hours, it does better than directly watering from tap. I solved the first real bad issues I had by collecting rain water for a few weeks of waterings, and it can withstand water right from the tap occasionally now. Great plants though. Not too difficult once you get the hang of it.

So I use distilled water (as recommended by numerous plant people) Thing is, I still get brown tips occasionally. Curious if it can be caused by something other than water contaminated with fluoride/minerals.

@@snowy12841 over or under watering and possible lack of specific fertilizers for a potted plant. Sometimes it’s also not thinning out the plant enough. Brown tips are not always bad. I see mine have less in the winter than summer.

Yes!!! I noticed this too. We have to let them be and give them water just as much as it would if it was outdoors with rain or humidity. They are plants after all and we try to care for them like our babies lol I’m so guilty!

Sadly, for my plants I have been home recuperating since MARCH!! I love to water them. I noticed that if You pick the plant up out of the pot cover pot and it light it needs watering. If it’s heavy it doesn’t. There’s also a watering probe but that’s inexpensive but not as accurate, in my opinion. Also let the plant dry out, BUT when You see the leaves hanging, give it water. But then You can indulge in Your Water Fetish and really make it wet. But let the excess water run out. Also I have learned to go outside more often. Go to a Beer Garten, or do something outside to take my mind off of my Babies. But one thing Homeboy didn’t do and it’s very important when using Terracotta pots is to soak them in a pail of water until the air bubbles disappear. This enables the pot to hold in the moisture, closes the pores/air holes (see I know Some of y’all thought , “Pores? Clay doesn’t have pores. Skin does”) in the clay and ensures that the plant is being watered not the pot. Also when repotting always use a piece of broken pot or plastic to cover but not stuff the draining hole. This enables the excess water to drain and the roots won’t get root rot or the plant won’t be sitting in water. Too much Love is NEVER good. Something will always be hurt or die, be it Plant or Human. And just a tip for the Single Folks here. If You’re invited to a Dates place first look around and check out the cleanliness, but most importantly, if that Cat or Chic doesn’t have any plants, that’s a BAD sign, and if the plants are all dry out and sad looking, that’s how You’ll going to be looking. Because these are living Creatures that need to be cared for. And if that Person doesn’t have that ability? To each Their own but I have followed this guideline and although Single, I am Happily Single out of choice. Just a tip. Thanks for the video. Very informative as usual.

I got plants who doesn't like water but also like moist soil. So I started watering in once a week and gradually decrease the days to get the perfect moist but not wet soil.

I just started watching this channel a few days ago and this is already the third video where I was really disappointed in not seeing how the plant was doing after the "project" of the video was completed. I wish there was a link in the video description to a follow up video of the plant weeks later if it can't be added to the video itself.

If your leaves are dropping off and the tip of the plant seems dead, you can cut it back to a height you want it to start over in the live part of the stem. Any good remainder of the cutting can be cut at an angle and reinserted back into the soil.
