Yes to a part 2, I absolutely loved this! This would make a brilliant series I feel like every plant parent has a "plants to Google" list that just keeps getting longer
I've been looking to get the Philodendron brevispathum for some time now. I looked up Ill exotics and noticed they only had 2 left. I then saw ur video this morning and was immediately convinced I shld just buy it. Sure enough, I went bck to the site today, and there was only one left! I am now the proud owner (once it arrives ☺️) of a Philodendron brevispathum 😌. Ur video DEFINITELY convinced me! I didn't want to wait another 5 years till it became available again😅. Thank you!
My mom has a metallicum. Not very finicky. She bought one a few years ago and I don’t recall the price being so steep. I definitely want a cutting from her one day!
Aglaonema rotundum looks like pin stripe calathea and way more than The Chocolate. I'm wondering if the Syngonium you were unsure about is the first plant you mentioned. 🤔
So what I could find in a preliminary search is that Aglaonema rotundum is what Aglaonema 'Chocolate' is hybridized or cultivated from. So technically Aglaonema 'Chocolate' is the rotundum species, just a cultivated version of it for the characteristics we see specifically in the 'Chocolate'. So that's why they look significantly different and probably why you were getting mixed search results. Hope this helps clarify things. If anyone finds different info let me know! I'm always down to learn more.
Great video! I was actually looking up auritum when your video was recommended as I recently traded for it. I've had auritum (aka tri leaf wonder) for a little over a month and its a fast grower for sure, two new leaves in that time. It's leaves are not as thick as chiapense but thicker than white butterfly, even as a non lobey juvenile, its leaves are longer than other podophyllum varieties. I also have aglaonema chocolate, it was one of my first plants. It lives in my north window, its a slow but steady grower, fave thing about it is its pink lateral veins and rouge abaxials. I would have definitely confused ph. brevispathum for a anthurium, it kinda looks like a. nigrolaminum 'Gigi'
I love hearing about your experience with the syngonium auritum! It's fun to see different plants in others' collections. The aglaonema chocolate is gorgeous--I hope to get my hands on one someday :)
