I don't think RHOA went downhill after season 1 despite Kandi and Cynthia already being famous, but I do understand your point. Once the trend started, Bravo behaved as if they could't put the genie back in the bottle. The proof: Kenya Moore, Claudia Jordan, Kim Fields, Eva Marcille, Shamari Devoe, Drew Sidora... Truthfully, Bravo does the same with RHOBH. And they started with Kim and Kyle Richards and later added Lisa Rinna, Eileen Davidson, Erica Girardi, Garcelle Beauvais, and (by extension) Teddi Mellancamp. I think, and this is just me, that Black folks will watch RHOBH without much criticism and will watch RHOA with more criticism or just stop watching it completely because we don't want to see Black women behave a certain way but we will accept it from White women. Therefore, RHOBH will get the White support and the Black support and it will reflect in the ratings and the overall sentiment of the show. Although the RHOA 15 ratings did take a hit, they have been better than the current season of RHOC and season 3 of RHOSLC. In some reports RHOSLC is still being considered a hit with lower ratings than RHOA season 15. Bad behavior, fake "storylines" (I hate that word when it relates to reality TV) and the unwillingness of the ladies to share the truth of their lives is something that runs amok in the Real Housewives universe not just RHOA. Authenticity went out the window when atrocious behavior started to be rewarded with a peach, an apple, a champagne flute, a diamond, a snowflake, an orange, etc...
