Houston's New PUPPY! 

German Shorthaired Pointers are an all around breed. They can do weight pulling, obedience, dock diving, agility, they are great swimmers and should only be around 50lbs for a female, have pleasant personalities, good cuddlers and easy keepers. I was honored to have one as my first dog as well as a youth, his name was Bluegrass Mike and was the Bestest Dog Ever

We had our GSP for 18 years. Her name was Babe, and she was trained to bird hunt. Your little one looks just like her! They are amazing family dogs as well. We miss our Babe girl very much. She was amazing to watch hunt. I loved it when she went on point.

Oh... my... goodness. 👊😆 Obedience training... immediately. I had a high energy Mountain Feist that learned to sit & stay by 8 weeks. Smart dogs love to learn constantly. Keeping up with them is the challenge. It's never too early to start with high energy dogs like a Shorthair. He needs to be consistent so she learns he's her go-to. If she's running off, he's not doing enough. Glad you're on board with it being a family dog. Congratulations! ❤🎉

AWESOME CHOICE!!!!! When I was a kid my dad bred German Shorthaired Pointers and those are amazing dogs! I have so many great memories of Brownie(because she looked like a brownie with walnuts) and her 2 litters. She lived till the ripe ole age of 14. Wishing you Houston many wonderful memories in the making.

Daniel, I don’t know if you noticed but, when Earl first met the puppy in your vehicle, the puppy assumed a partial “pointer stance” with its left front paw. Tipped me off to its breed right away. VERY cute.

What an excellent decision Houston! Way to go little buddy. I got a GSP in July of ‘23. I had no idea what a comedian I was getting. I named her Echo after Echo brand duck calls. Get ready for the energy. My Echo never stops. She escapes over and under the the fence daily. She’s such a little escape artist. She quickly learned to open the door by turning the door handle with her mouth. She’s the smartest and most loving, energetic dog I’ve ever had. Houston, get a fishing pole with a dove, quail, pigeon or duck wing on the end of the fishing line. She will point right now. It is really cool how soon they have the natural instinct to point. I grew up with a German Short Haired pointer back in the 60’s when I lived up North. His name was Rex and he would pull us on sleds in the snow. He was the best dog.. She is beautiful.. Great decision Houston!

My first memory of our German Shorthair is when she climbed into my bed (with help! ) For the next 16 years we slept together, let Daddy take us hunting and won Field Trials across America....wonderful memories.....I cried .... my Susie also had the dark head.

If you are not breaking any laws, it is up to you to decide your personal decisions regarding your home and family! One of my best friends has been raising and training German shorthaired pointers professionally for years now he was a very good dog trainer to begin with, but then got interested in this breed after a lot of research. He trains peoples dogs. He trains people how to train their hunting dogs and he goes around the country and works with them before the hunting season in different areas he loves this breed and I have to agree with him that if I owned a hunting dog that would probably be the dog I would pick out. Also I used to have Irish setters and I had one that was just for hunting and she was beautiful and perfect she was actually, the great great granddaughter of my grandfathers Irish setter who he used only for hunting, but they have a lot of care with their coat. Houston made an excellent choice.
