I have had to live in Houston on and off, staying there at times for three-year stints. Always, without exception, during each one of those stays, several severe floods, heavy rains, hurricanes, etc. walloped that town. Even without the natural disasters, Houston's weather is miserable. Insects, however, love it. The swarms never die off, even in winter. Just a bad place.

That is as effective as the "thoughts and prayers" for the last mass shooting.

Governor Abbott lets everyone have a gun, anywhere and everywhere, lets murderers go free, puts up razor wire to injure humans trying to come into the country, rather than just detaining them and sending them back, and the greed is so bad they have a power grid that, in order to avoid federal fees, draws their power from other states, thereby not being able to keep up with the demand when everyone turns on their power. Greed, deprivation and hate, that's Texas.

Most oxygen supply companies make sure patients on O2 have back up bottles of liquid O2 to last them and they should be able to contact them in an emergency or call 911 and have help sent to them. I was an Oxygen Therapist for a popular company and patients are always left with instructions. Plust, most electric companies have an emergency alert for people who are on life sustaining equipment, like here in Colorado, Xcel Energy is pretty good. Local city utility companies are a bit more difficult to get help from so make sure to have back up from your provider, Lincare or whichever company you use. In today's market, you need to look after yourself as much as possible because nobody else will.

I lived in Houston during the "freeze", no power or running water for weeks in the house we rented. Busted pipe that poured water into the garage that wasn't finished, and the owners/rental company tried to tell me I had to pay for the damages because I didn't wrap the pipe. Excuse me, the garage was unfinished, no insulation, just drywall, nothing inside the walls except empty air and pipes, no wrapping is going to stop a pipe from freezing at below freezing temps if you can't open up the wall to get to the pipe to insulate it. I won my case but I was sick to death of that moron Governor and his greed, and the greed of the power companies or whomever was responsible for making it an independent power grid allowing it to be overloaded. I had friends whose ceilings or walls were opened up and pouring water down into their places homes and couldn't get fixed for months due to short supply of plumbing. Do yourself a favor, go buy a power bank from the store, if you can, and charge it in your car, otherwise, just use your car charger for your phone until power is restored. You can live without A/C for awhile, try living without heat and water for weeks. I hate than anyone has to live that way, but you'll get through it.
