3:09 i watched asher's reconstruction video of his 3.89 former NAR and he did something shockingly similar, he got an OLL where he knew it was either going to be a PLL skip or a Jb Perm but decided to just stop the timer after OLL + AUF
It may be a good tactic after all. All he can lose is a DNF that will be rejected upon calculating the average. But there's a chance to get a WR that will hold for months or years, and it will improve the average, possibly also making it unbeatable for a time. They know from practice at home, that a lucky scramble can get them further in competitions than ever before. They count on it and are ready to take the risk. We may also see in the future BLD solvers with CFOP, that will take the risk of predicting the last layer, only to get that outstanding WR.
@@nowymail ye i agree, for aaron it was a choice between possibly counting a 10 at some random local comp or getting one of the fastest solves in the world, definitely a good risk to take
It has been a great week for cubing, I crushed my average by 13.77 seconds from 47.35. to 33.58. And I got 2 sub 30 singles which I have never gotten in a comp till now.
Fast, faster, Yiheng. I wonder how long we have to wait before sub 3 will be the new sub 3.5. And congrats to Aaron for being faster than Yiheng for an *entire* hour. PS: little correction 7:29 the 5.09 average was from Yufang Du.
@@axo342 yeah, it sucks to not have used my time properly, specially during the pandemic but I'm trying to do my best right now and hopefully get to sub 7
3:35 you can bc the corner at BUR makes a 1x1x3, so the way to solve ollcp, is sexy sledge from the back or the other alg, and the blocks mean it will skip

i'm thoroughly convinced yiheng will get at the very least a new wr single in september or october and will get a sub 3 solve by december, possibly an official sub 4 average by february
