I cried when we won that 2013 prelim. All those losses to geelong were absolute agony. I hated them with a passion. Looking back now though with the success we had afterwards it's quite fun to watch. That prelim is still just about the best game of football i've ever seen. We never liked to make it easy on ourselves in prelims. 4 in a row under a kick, and the 5th against freo was looking that way until late when they just collapsed

I'm not gonna lie, I do want a video essay on Richmonds rise from 2010-2020 or something. Just because A. these video essays are brilliant and B. Dimma's departure, so I guess it would be a sort of tribute to him. I don't know I just want more of Jagger's videos.

Because Jeff Kennett told people in his own party, weren't allowed to talk to the media in the last week building up to the 1999 Victorian state election. Which is ironic considering how the Kennett curse was created between Hawthorn and Geelong.

and now geelong are probably the greatest team of the 21st century. They have the best record out of all the teams since 2000, won 4 premierships, while completing a full rebuild and still staying competitive through out the 2010's. and then the icing on the cake in 2022.

Great vid, the emotion in that prelim was immense as a supporter who was there on the day it has honestly the best sporting moment Ive ever witnessed the roller coaster of emotions from being down and out at 3qtr time seeing a family friend storm off to the tab to collect his winnings for an "emotional security" bet on the cats to the steady comback, burgoynes goal to hit the front. But the best part and i think any hawks fan there that night can agree was when cyril made the breakaway run and kicked the goal after siren as us nor the players could hear the siren sound as everyone collective lost their shit when cyril got the footy in open space. i remember so vividly how much of a big deal that 2013 prelim was - from an all hawks big family, it was like we'd won the lottery the tears and joy after that match was insane. i remember the resentment that had built towards geelong over the years, we were so desperate.

Do one with Carlton 2022. How the Blues blew a regular season starting 8-2 then lose 10 of their next games to be eliminated from the finals

Great vid 👍 Just on the 2013 GF - eyeball test to me says that while Freo had chances early, Hawks controlled the game particularly in the second half. Freo kicked a few late but Hawks were 5 goals up in the 4th quarter.

Although I dislike Kennett intensely, and am glad he's gone, what he said in that interview is actually correct. He said: we beat Geelong WHEN IT MATTERS (ie. in knockout finals). They beat us in a whole bunch relatively meaningless H&A games and one non-knockout final. When we finally get to an actual knockout final (ie, when it truly matters), guess who wins? They actually haven't beaten us in a knockout final since 1963....

He actually said they couldnt beat us when it counted and he was ,at that stage 100% correct

As much I love the videos Jagger, this was a tough watch as Freo supporter. I always felt that Freo should have won that game and it could have kickstarted a great era for the club. Shame it wasn’t to be. One of the big what if? questions in the AFL. Anyways, here’s to hoping Freo can go all the way in the next few years.💜

you should have mentioned that, as strong as the Hawks looked with their win streak and 19 wins in 2013, they STILL lost to the Cats twice (who also won 18 games themselves). based on this geelong were extremely stromg favourites making the comeback win in the prelim all the more improbable and legendary

The best part about the curse is that Paul Chapman started it with his speech, Geelong traded Chapman out to Essendon and Chapman until he retired never lost to Hawthorne again.

I think it's worth to mention that the cats won the 2009 and 2011 flags so losing to them was more than respectable
