I work Customer Service for a major cell company here in the States and let me say I totally use a lot of these techniques when dealing with customers, such as active listening and speaking softly. I can't tell you how many times a customer has started out bullying me, but just by listening to their issue, applying excessive (maybe not-so-heartfelt) empathy, and firmly but softly stating my point do I win them over.

I did check the comments briefly, as I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t doubling up on getting y’all this feedback, but you might want to see if you have a sound editor to tend to this brief, but true disruption.
Personally, I don't seek to dominate anyone and am a bit suspicious of anyone that does. To me, a desire to dominate others indicates an absence of personal empowerment. Why else would someone seek power over others?

I do not think that I transmit dominance, and it is not my intention. Perhaps it is a mix between independence and security about what you think, perhaps it is more that vulnerability is not perceived but solidity.
I completely agree. It’s good to read someone else thinks the same. We take accountability for our behaviour. Alway’s being responsible for our life choices. I think others who are emotionally immature and intrinsically dependent on others feel intimidated by an ‘independent and secure’ person. It’s their feelings of powerlessness more so. 🤍

Not entirely as we care for the collective good. We just don't care for unproductive negative feedback because we value our inner peace. Constructive feedback can change our perspective. Narcissists can't change except for pressured social criticism.
