On the matter of the Queen Elizabeth theory, there are actually more details that lean on that, I heard someone talking about how Elizabeth had severe scarring on her face due to a childhood sickness, so much so that she wore ungodly amounts of make up just to cover it up, she was also a natural redhead and spoke 7 different languages fluently. Funnily enough there was also the rumours that Queen Elizabeth was in fact a man, so the FGO Drake being Elizabeth would be very appropriate in many aspects. So yeah, while its never outright stated that she is Elizabeth, there are many hints to it.
Ever since I experienced Fate/Extra (ack in 2015, so a little late), I had the idea of Drake Alter, the queen Gloriana, Elizabeth I being aversion that fully embraces being Queen Elizabeth.
The overhaul part of her second skill's name might refer to the act of 'overhauling' another ship to board it, which is something ships of the era did constantly both in battle and to secure a prize after a surrender. So basically, the skill name is saying she specifically gets her Golden Rule by stealing things from others. As a pirate should.
Actually, she got along decently well with Shinji in Extra. It helps that the Shinji in Extra is not nearly as bad as the main timeline version on the whole. But it also helps that she just isn't a doormat like Medusa is as far as dealing with bratty people is concerned. However Extra DOES let you see what Drake is like as an enemy! The answer being that she's not really any different in terms of personality but she's largely amoral. She has no qualms or hangups whatsoever about killing an innocent, fighting dirty, or what have you if it benefits her and her allies in any way up to and including it making them a profit or just being fun. Responding with more or less a "sure, why the hell not?" to anything suggested to her be it good or evil Essentially Drake does good in FGO because she's allied with good aligned protagonists and if she were allied with evil aligned characters instead, she'd be just as ok burning towns down and kidnapping people. Considering she's generally surrounded by pirates normally, that means she more than likely did some heinous things in life simply because her crew wanted to and responded with essentially "Welp, I'm definitely going to hell now. neat!"
0:40 fun fact but the shinji of fate/extra is actually a completely different character from stay night's shinji, even having different japanese characters for his name. oh and he's a nine year old kid who just uses an avatar in the virtual world that makes him look like a teenager
1:27 Technically true. But the little bit in FGO that SOMEWHAT supports this theory in my opinion is how during the Okeanos singularity when the subject of rulership and what it means to be royalty comes up, Drake all of a sudden gets very uncomfortable and is like "Uh, could we change the subject now?" It's thin, but it's about the best we're going to get
She was a 'villain'(even self describes herself and Shinji as such) in Fate Extra but she doesn't really do anything evil. She did however force Shinji to pay for her services by coding in more treasure for them to locate in the labrynth, so clearly she wanted plunder, even if not in the usual sense. She also didn't want him to just give her the treasure, she wanted to *find* it because it's better if it's earned. Basically she had a 'take what I want because I can' mentality and knew that was 'evil', so she took it in stride when they lost; Shinji decidedly took it... worse.
Something i noticed you're doing is only using half the NP names. The japanese text uses Ruby text to elaborate on the name. The full name of Golden Wild Hunt is Golden Wild Hunt: Night of the Golden Hind and the Storm. Notably the english version of fate extra dropped all references to the wild hunt
Servant facts about drake apart from the already mentioned elizebeth and drake swap since in extra its implied not directly stated, her power actually increases the more money she has that’s why golden rule overhaul has buster up and other stuff, drake as much as she calls herself evil in fate extra where she is our enemy she cares for her master shinji like a big sister but also pesters him about getting payed also shinji in extra is just an 8 year old with an avatar and even those she attacks us in ambushes she is never evil about it just quite sarcastic and a bit arrogant but otherwise as much as she spouts about money and fortune in reality inside drake is a loveable person just that she well never cares about what others might think of her if she wants to do stuff even if it considered evil, she is very self deprecating at the same time, she boasts to thoose she dosnt know but in her private alone is kinda self deprecating, overall I love her in general, also her scar on the face is a funny detail cause it ties to the Queen Elizabeth theory cause Elizabeth has a scar on the face in the same place drake has.
I love her last conversation in the manga (can’t remember how it was in the game) it was so cool seeing her show black beard some respect for his last moment
@@CrazyYurie oh if I remember rigth taht very different in the manga there they mostly talk about how he dies in the real world and how he dosnt want it to happen again (if I remember correctly)
I'm pleasantly surprised she got a C! I really like her, but I'd always assumed she was a bit of a dumpster fire in terms of accuracy. It sounds like they got more right than I realized. Also, I really hope we get more exploration of the Wild Hunt at some point. It's such a cool idea, and Fate could do some really crazy things with it. (Plus, making the Wild Hunt the focus of an event or something would be a great excuse to give some attention to Lancer Alter, who is so severely underused)
Extra Shinji is a different person than the Shinji in Stay Night. Extra Shinji is an 8 year old Designer Baby who uses a much more mature looking (late teen looking) avatar and is a high class gamer (implied to be some single player e-sports stuff). for He thinks the Moon Cell Holy Grail War is essentially a game. In the interquell (or sequel depending on the route ...) Fate/Extra CCC where the Masters have to work together to escape a situation created by a rough powerful AI (well, as FGO Player you know her, BB) he comes around to eventually sacrifice himself in an attempt to poison Meltrylith. He is a an a**hole (still stand-offish and clearly having some inferiority-superiority complex stuff going on), but ultimately a good guy. Drake is to him like the big sister he never had in some ways, for example trying to make him embrace the fun of life without having to prove oneself to others.
Don't worry Extra Shinji is the good Shinji.... Well the better Shinji The gender flip on Drake is admittedly one of my fav her crew just respected her so much they flipped their gender historically so no one could try to demean they for being a woman or that is my take at least I need to make a correction earlier I was thinking pioneer of the stars when I was talking about Voyager of the storms on the Blackbeard video I love that Drake just has free reign to kick Poseidon's butt because lore, 3/3 baby! Evil is in the eye if the beholder, Drake still did steal kill and plunder so thinking they are destined for hell still fits Also we do have a lot of servant who are evil aligned more because of what they do than who they are. Ereshkigal comes to mind, nothing evil about tending to the dead just kinda something humans have associated with evil over time
Another good video. Honestly, I do kinda wish they just went with Elizabeth and Drake swapping places. It would have been interesting and tied a few issues. Like Drake's scar. Elizabeth did have a scar on her face. It's also worth noting she wore a ton of make up and heavy clothes and kept to herself. That could easily be worked that 'Drake' was doing his best to hide the switch while Elizabeth was having the time of her life on the sea. As is, our Drake is in a weird limbo on what they do with her gender. I still love her and her design though.
I'll really never understand FGO's fixation with making Drake to be the first circumnavigation. Sure, Magellan himself and most others died on the way, but 18 members of the original crew including Elcano (who took the reigns as captain after he was killed) survived the whole way from start to finish and made the entire trip More like the first captain to have led the whole way if anything...? And even that's kinda iffy
She claims to sink half of the Invincible Armada a lot (and it's supported by British stories), but it's just as likely that Drake in history never actually engaged with the Armada at all. There's also that other versions of the battle say that the Armada went mainly unscathed but the heavy storm that came afterwards sank half of the fleet on their way back. This is probably a case of "which propaganda do you believe the most, the British or the Spanish"
@@CrazyYurie It's fairly straight forward to set up and use. Just need to find the ISO for the game and you'll be fine. Just ask for help with settings if it's lagging to much for some reason.
Honestly, the "Evil" situation in FGO's Francis Drake is very similar to what happens with FGO's Nero: they are based on historical figures who are "evil" or did questionable things, but FGO simply leaves out that part of the customization of the Servant or whitewash their "evil" actions. In any case, the gender change between PPH and FGO's Servant could easily be its own video since there are many cases where the gender change does not make sense or justification (not to mention that FGO is pretty bad at acknowledging female historical or relevant figures)
1. Fgo servant summoning systems tends to search throughout all of time and space and possibilities for positive models for servants that only began to change when the rituals for summoning was tampered with extensively 2. In General Servants from the ground up are mentally built to be stable and often positive, and most of the people around are smart enough to not invoke thier worst aspects unless your kayneth, and servants are often objective based, they don't often think about being terrible for no reason or being negative for no reason 3. Even historians are questioning whether everything bad about nero was propaganda from the 1%
