Last year, we put two of the more budget friendly, portable launch monitors to the test at the driving range - the Mevo+ and the SkyTrak - so we thought, “Why not try a higher end, but much less portable, Uneekor EYE XO setup at the range?”
We like to make things hard on ourselves so it's easy on you. Isn’t that so nice of us?
Let us start by saying the EYE XO is by no means meant to be used outdoors. However, we wanted to see how accurate the carry distances on the simulator were compared to real life. So we set up a Carl’s Place Pro Enclosure frame made out of 2-inch Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT), mounted our EYE XO to the frame and protected it, brought our Carl’s Place 4’x9’ Hitting Mat, and hooked up a computer to test it out at the 59er Bar and Grill driving range.
We used a hitting mat to help the EYE XO see the ball better, but also to protect the grassy area near the bar and restaurant; we needed to be close to the building to get power for both the EYE XO and computer, but the actual grassy hitting area is much farther away from power.
We postponed our test once due to high winds. The next day was a little breezy, but not enough to have too much of an impact on numbers. The breeze was mostly right-to-left, but also might have been a bit of a tailwind at times. Since the EYE XO is not made as an outdoor launch monitor, we were unable to change weather conditions in the Succeed software to match our real life conditions.
Our driving range was relatively flat until about the 200 yard point, where it started going uphill a bit. Typically hitting uphill will take off some distance in real life, while the EYE XO would have no idea about the hill we were dealing with in real life.
Considering taking all the variables into account, we were very happy with the results!

Between what looks like a gradual slope up and the wind out there, this was really impressive.

You guys almost nailed an ideal test. If you guys could expand on this a bit by including all the LM data like spin and launch angle etc in your tables that would be amazing. Weather for the day including temp, pressure, wind speed and direction would be good to see too so a person can really do a good dive and determine just how accurate these machines are. Next can you test the big 3? Trackman, Foresight and Flightscope? Only other thing that would be amazing to add would be a longer than average guy as well to represent some longer shots (longer shots I think will show where these LM algorithms really lose accuracy). Low spin boost effect comes to mind with Foresight products. Thanks! Great video!

Thanks for the suggestions! Since we didn't really have a way to compare the other numbers (spin, launch angle, etc.), we did not include them, but we will keep them in mind for future! And thanks for the suggestions on doing the "big 3" and finding a longer hitter ... we'll see what we can do!

My plan was to get either the EYEXO or the GC3. I was leaning toward the EYEXO. Thank you for taking time to do this test. I know it's not perfect but it does help make my decision easier.

@@cobyonek301 I bought a Bushnell Launch Pro but had issues with it. I am just using it outdoors now so I may get the Eye Mini.

Thanks, great video. Not to be critical, but when measuring shot with laser, you often moved back from hitting area 1-2 yards?

It’s wind I guess, that’s where actual is further than the launch monitor

wouldn't using the club stickers make the data even more accurate? I see that you don't have those on

From what we know and have read, the club stickers only affect the club data. We don't believe that more accurate club data (or having club data at all) means more accurate ball data.
