I didn’t know the retro figures don’t need likeness rights. I suggest to make a video on Warner brothers not allowing dc figures to come with guns, yet marvel, Star ears and a ,or of other ip are fine with it.

Even if the head portrait on McFarlane's Sgt. Rock figure didn't look like George Michael wearing too much cheek blush, the fact that he doesn't come with any guns is absurd.

Star Wars is easy. The characters come with "blasters" that fire lasers and other futuristic space nonsense for weapons. So they have no issues.

If something happens and the haslab cantina doesn't get funded I have a feeling we will still get the sisters somehow due to the demand.I do find it odd that lobo was deemed so adult and violent when you have the joker who has had several figures throughout the years and he's done violent adult things even worse then lobo at times.
@dwitefry4157
@dwitefry4157 Месяц назад
on the Lobo/Joker thing? Just read the Lobo comics and compare them to Batman comics at the same time (which would be 2000s/early 2010s). Lobo books, which they were worried about kids reading, are far more...well mature isn't the right word because they're incredibly immature at times lol, but more adult. Joker, who did indeed beat a teenage boy with a crowbar and then blow him up yes, was still appearing in much more family friendly/kid friendly books, albeit doing very violent things.

As I have discussed at length in the past, both actresses DID sign Lucasfilm contracts because they were booked as artists rather than as extras. Lucasfilm lost a lot of paperwork sometime back in the 80s, so they had to go back and get them again. Christine Hewitt (Brea Tonnika), signed in the early 2000s, but Angela Staines (Senni Tonnika), has explained her reasons in my published interviews with her that she did not. That is what prevented the figures from happening. Recently, she has signed with Lucasfilm. They didn't "throw money at the problem." She is on the same page as fans that have wanted these figures for years to have them made, and now that may finally happen.

My favorite likeness rights dodge was the Christian Bale John Connor from the Terminator Salvation line. His head is completely covered with a hat, sunglasses, and face covering bandana. Cobra Commander showed more skin.

Scott: 1. Tell me again what´s the name of the marbling effect on paints in figures. 2. That happens on purpose? 3. When a figure is re-released and there is very minor difference in the painting, is it done on purpose or because the companies can´t recall or produce the exact same colors again? PS Asked you also how fast food toys are made and how workers are trained to paint figures.

Did vintage style Star Wars figures ever have likeness rights attached to them? Because there’s the story of how Han Solo’s figure was changed to have a huge, round head that somehow looks less like the character because of Harrison Ford’s disapproval of the original figure.

So how does death affect something like this? If Tom Cruise died, would his estate be able to say, "Sure, make figures." Same with the Tonnika sister that passed away.
@Jag2045
@Jag2045 Месяц назад
I think so - for the Batman '66 line by McFarlane the estates of both Yvonne Craig (Batgirl) and Neil Hamilton (Commissioner Gordon) refused to grant likeness rights so figures couldnt be made based on the show versions (and what they had to do was make Batgirl based on the Batman '66 comic and Gordon based on the 1977 Filmation cartoon instead)

Do you have an opinion as to why The Riddler is not represented in the Spin Master toy line from THE BATMAN. I mean, even Jeffrey Wright had a 3.75” action figure from that line. McFarlane got to make a 7 inch figure and a 12 inch statue, both of which were fully masked without showing Paul Dano’s face at all. Kristen Wiig I believe got Barbie like representations from Wonder Woman 84 as Cheetah but no action figures. Any thoughts?

Yes and No approvals are just a point in time. You can see designers saying something is too big to be made and then it’s out a few years later. Same for hooded Cobra Commander. Just needs the right person to approve it.

Kenner Star Wars human faces weren't exactly known for having a real likeness, and the character design belonged to Lucasfilm... so, where was the actial issue? Anyway, I'm getting my kenner-style tonnika sisters from Stan Solo, so all good 🤗

@@rishoutfield2043 Scott briefly touched on the subject a few years ago, maybe in the videos with the lawyer he brought on. I _think_ it was something to do with toy companies seeing it as free market research.

The Haslab's at 5,114 out of 8,000 needed. It's slowed up a lot, which is standard for Haslabs. Big thing is we've got all the unlocks revealed, so there won't be any boosts because of that. The Tonnika's are right at base, so they just need to hit that 8K mark. Will they? We'll see. It'll be a slow trickle of backers until the end, then skyrocket. Especially if they aren't adding overseas retailer orders until the end.

I for one am still holding out for all those characters that people barely remember exist these days; eternally burning that candle for the rest of the Gail Simone-era Secret Six [at least you can slap together multiple lines and get everyone but Scandal, Ragdoll, Jeannette, and half the New 52 team] and also some Charlton Comics characters like Nightshade. And I never would have guessed that we'd get a figure of Ambush Bug within my lifetime, but then Keith Giffen died so maybe that's why.

Vintage Star Wars and most Reaction figures most definitely do have likeness rights factored in. The likeness rights apply to the cardbacks since photos of the actors are on there. Also most Reaction figures look like the actors. Not all of them do but there are 1,600+ figures and counting and a ton of them look like the actor. You can tell when they dont have likeness rights when the actor’s face isnt on the card. Also there is a hand full of Reaction that had prototypes shown and the actor says their character cant be made period and it gets canceled. Phoebe Cates character from Gremlins is the earliest example. The Ozzy Osbourne figure is another. The Roddy Piper from They Live is another. The surviving Tonnika sister said they could make the figures in an interview that popped up on YT a while back. It was mainly the spouse of one of them that pissed off Lucas demanding money over them being on a trading card years after it came out. Im sure money changed hands to get these made but it was mainly a big miscommunication that was to blame and Lucas being an arse about it for decades. The Cantina is 61% funded. Im sure itll fund as the closing date approaches but were going to be pissed if it doesnt. If you want it but havent backed yet then do it now. You dont get charged until the minimum number is hit. If youre waiting for it to fund first then that’s how things dont get funded. It makes no sense to wsit if youre willing to spend the amount being asked since you dont get charged immediately.
