How Aloy RUINED Genshin Impacts Future For Character Collabs

it was a force collab for them to go on console, they didnt even want to collab, neither will they collab anymore edit : I phrased terribly, by console I mean playstation platform, not console in general.

Whats stupid is that they had a web event for her which would've been a good way to give us constellations. Hell, if they just gave her a banner right now despite not being a good character, she'd sell by controversy alone. Literally nothing's stopping them from fixing her.

Here is a simple answer: Hoyo wanted cross-platform saves and Sony probably required a collab from one of their IP's. I have seen mobile games do collabs and fumbled it but they still get more collabs despite some underwhelming receptions. Aloy didn't RUINED future collabs rather Hoyoverse rarely do game collabs and you will just see it once in a blue moon. You will probably have more chances in hoping for collabs between their own IP's just like FGO collabing with their own IP's.

To be honest, the VA's reason to not be credited is absolutely valid. The Genshin community is toxic as hell when it comes to VAs (innocent ones, mind you) for the stupidest reasons.

I blame the fans more than just Aloy herself. Before she was even out the amount of childish rage was intense. I do main aloy myself and do great with her so it does sadden me that she’ll never be updated atp. Thankfully these days in co-op people are really kind to aloy players. They love it especially when I solo a boss and are just overall super sweet.

very simple , sony refused to host genshin on the playstation unless they gave them someth in return which was this , so this was mihoyo`s loophole through it .

I think that Aloy could be a very good character if her kit gets some refinements; namely her Elemental Skill. You can't aim it and the cryo bomblets tend to land in random places that enemies simply won't go, thus not triggering the Cryo Damage elemental infusion on her Basic. I think with some substantial reworks, she could be very good. Buuuuuuuuut this is Genshin Impact, and Hoyoverse simply doesn't rework characters unless the Young Emperors of the CN Server cry loudly about it-- Example: Zhongli.

I understand the VA's point of view about not wanting to be credited at that time, after all genshin players at inazuma's release point were pretty savage online, even to this day but yeah

Not only she has a bad kit, but her mats aren't available for low ar too. Her ascension boss mat is a cryo cube in dragonspine, and okay, that's reasonable. But making enemy mats in Inazuma? Yeah, no wonders English VA didn't want to have anything to do with the game. I imagine how bad it could be for her, considering the situation with Kokomo VA

People that attacks voice actors, need to get their psychological and mental health checked for real!!

Kokomi was my first limited 5 star I love catalysts I love hydro and she's better than barbara so I never felt that she's underwhelming

Theory: Aloy could be just a road block. Since she's an exclusive Playstation character and under the property of Sony. She's preventing the game to be port to other platforms, like Switch and Xbox.

I'll NEVER understand these people's need to go after VAs for something they didn't do or something that happened that wasn't in their control. This doesn't just happen in Genshin either it happens in so many other games.

I am a big fan of horizon zero dawn and Genshin impact, so u can imagine how happy I was. As soon as she came out I was so exited to build her and use her as my main. And the absolute toxic people I met in co-op was crazy- I didn’t even have bad dmg but no matter what people would kick me out of domains and give rlly bad comments😭

This was a sad tease for me cause it made me get excited for collab characters to be added in. But man my whole perspective on her inclusion had changed to just not caring about any Collabs

Honestly glad it tanked, and I say this as a Horizon fan. Too many people are looking for crossovers like smash or fortnite. Hoyo is telling a story they don't want 3rd parties interfering in their worlds

One of the biggest issues was for some of us trying to get her it was nearly impossible. There were bugs preventing us from being able to access the update in order to get her. Honkai impact 3rd is a example of a Hoyo game that understands how to do collabs.

They should have had a re-run with an event when the new Horizon game came out to get constellations for her.

Sword of Descension is another weapon that only functions on PSN. Also, on the flip side, I can't imagine working on a collab with Sony would have been very fun for MiHoYo. Sony being... well. Sony.

She was my 2nd *ever* 5* and I like the Horizon series, but I still never ended up using her. She's still lv 60.

Truth to be told, at that time, during the anniversary, there was a rampage in the game and it had the ratings dropping so rapidly that it dropped at 2.0 stars on playstote and people were demanding more rewards and then hoyo gave Aloy and an apology and everything stopped 🤦‍♀️

I got 2 builds for Aloy being a nuke damage with 2pc NB 2pc Blz, and 4pc marreche hunter for dps with Furina. I use aqua on her since I have 3 of them. She's meh still but I would love some constilations to improve her.

Aloy screams someone who'd of fit in nicely in Star Rail, but with March 7th. I guess be too much alike. If we do see another crossover I feel Star Rail be the game to do it. As for who I'd like. There loads of characters that fit in that game. Some off top my head love to see... Tifa from Final Fantasy 7 or that new chick I've been seeing lately who's the new B2 of gaming.

I think people are being unreasonable about aloy’s constellations cause if she did they’d have to make room for her in teyvat AND horizon’s lore like how the sky is fake and all that, it would be a pretty cool thing if genshin had crossovers with other games but tbh it’s got a lot already

I just hope they can do a collab at least as a very rare occurence in the future because id love to see some collab characters and how hoyo can make kits for them. For example if genshin ever comes to the switch (which is vv unlikely ik) they can have characters like Link or maybe even Marth as version exclusives. Idk honestly im just a sucker for collabs 😭

I remember being excited for Aloy as i loved her character in Horizon but unfortunately her gameplay is pretty clunky to have fun with her. Sure i havent fully forgotten about her and still play with my maxed out Aloy but her gameplay scares me away from maining her

I main her since 2.1 and I completly understand when ppl dont like her and all bc u dont have to. But I not only like her genshin playstyle, although i want some constellations for her, and I also played both Horizon titles and love both so I love Aloys character and design a lot. I dont think her kit is shi or messy tho, bc u can use as a Main DPS and quickswap dps (even if her multipliers arent the highest), cryo applicator and battery, even debuffer if u want.

Horizon series is a Playstation game series while Genshin is a cross platform for mobile, Playstation and PC and I don't understand why they choose Aloy as a collab.

She was a cool idea for character, if we consider that we have so much types of Mecha enemies. Sometimes I take her and anemo traveler in one team to beat such enemies, just for RP (Made her talents 10/10/10) 😍 But the developers were so lazy about this - they simply ruined the character themselves (no constellations, weapon limited by not in-game activity; no story exept small web-event, that gone already) It seems to me that this is the only company (who creates gachas) that cannot implement collabs properly. I guess, only own games remain for that purpose 😑 No one is asking for a strong characters - make them situational, but interesting to play (just make sure that new players won't feel sad to miss them). And yeah, playerbase, the noisiest and the most careless, make it impossible for any voice actors with self-dignity to participate and have any deal with company

On reddit everytime someone in a gacha subreddit mentions a game having a genshin collab everyone says "NOOOOOO!!!" because of genshin communities horrible reputation XD lol

I think if we ever get the intended main story finished, and if we somehow manage to go from there into a freer-form NG+ mode (it would be wonderful to be able to replay story and events, but even with a lot of the technical issues partially handled I can see how it may look to the developers like an opportunity for every single issue people have had with a minigame or early bounty missions or the story to come back on the table forever), collab characters will be fine then. They don't even have to be all that powerful, as their target audience should be open to challenge runs. As it is, Aloy simply doesn't fit into the story. I've got no problem with the character, and am somewhat annoyed I can't get her, but... it's like if Fischl never outgrew the scandal with Oz's Chinese voice actor back at the game's start. Aloy is not going to be story-relevant any time soon, and may never even get to cameo for events.

I remember when I started when Genshin was released I started on PS4, I got the wings, sword that could only be used on the playstation network I was kinda happy to have a decent starting sword tailored to Genshin's MC. This is the effect of Sword of Decension: "Hitting enemies with Normal and Charged Attacks grants a 50% chance to deal 200% ATK as DMG in a small AoE. This effect can only occur once every 10s. Additionally, if the Traveler equips the Sword of Descension, their ATK is increased by 66." like besides on release with this is their any other gears tailored to or gets a bonus effect to MC?

I didnt really care about aloy in genshin cause i know shes going to be pretty shit upon release and i didnt play HZD then. Now after playing zero dawn and actually knowing who aloy is and how awsome she is in HZD, i was so disappointed in what mihoyo did to her in this collab. They couldve done better when asuka got a good treatment in honkai so why cant aloy too? But yeah overall genshin aloy sucks, idk if this will happen again in future collabs or if there will be any. Who knows

I for one couldn't bring myself to hate Aloy in the game. Forced in? Absolutely. But I was playing Horizon at the time she came out in Genshin and she was the reason I even decided to check the game out. I wouldn't have discovered it if Aloy wasn't in first. So I guess good move Sony. You absolutely messed up and that somehow made me find one of my favorite games ever

I had hoped when the 2nd game dropped there'd be an event to get her cons or refinements for her bow at least, but it never came and it sucks cause I did build her as i was a fan of the first game and her auto atks are cool looking. Kinda would love more crossover costumes or more in general or another Collab character would of been cool really feel they should try again but they might maybe when the last chapter drops since they'll need new chars after the story is done.

I know this is just wishful thinking but, it would be great if they made a collab with The Legend of Heroes. The franchise of Falcom has a very similar setting, and vaios characters that could compatible with Genshin.

I'm crying, i played on PS4 in that time range and have the PlayStation Sword but not Alloy, and i was inactive for like a year that means the Mail timed out.

I feel like there would be a lot of opportunities for collabs, but also for a lot of skins. I can not wrap my head around why they are not releasing more skins

I actually ask for an Aloy re-release in the surveys. I started after it was over, and even though she is an underwhelming character, I would still want her for my collection and to mess around with.

For those that want to have fun with her I would suggest using a sacrificial bow on her so you can throw the explosives twice and get your ult quickly.

Intresting I didn't know people could ask to be uncredited if they didn't feel comfortable I always tought there would be some law or something that would obligated those involved to appear in the credits.

What an absolute shame we won't ever get another Collab in Genshin...just trying to imagine all the possible characters they could implement would be incredible... and imagine the *cough cough* MONEY *cough* they'd make from fans who'd be buying wishes to get EACH UNIT, from the whales to even casuals.

I claimed my Aloy, when she got delivered to the PC players and honestly, I feel super sad, that she was abandoned by Hoyo and they don't give a fudge candies about her anymore. She could hold a great potential, if she had at least the constellations, but nah, Hoyo just dumped her after a year and never talked about her anymore. And even though she is a character from different game, she still somewhat fits in Teyvat even visually. #GiveSomeLoveToAloy

I would’ve like to see something like a final fantasy collab with like Cloud or Clive. Them since they’re in the most recent games.

What is interesting is that: honkai impact and it’s predecessor ggz got a lot collabs. Ggz got Nikki up,girls’ frontline, neptunia, honkai impact(4 times), date a live, and modoka magica collabs with cross over stories with new units and weapons. And honkai impact got a evangelion, genshin, and promare collab. Which only genshin and evangelion got a story and new characters and weapons and the promare collab was pretty bad it only gave 2 paid skins and a exclusive stigma/ artifact which doesn’t mean anything since the previous events gave more skins and some where free and also previous events gave an exclusive badge.

There's also the sword of descension that is only for Playstation.

There is also a PS exclusive Sword, which effect only works while playing on PS.

Genshin’s unintentional scorched earth behavior is just weird, they both possibly killed my hype of collabs while also killed my willingness to check out the horizon series cuz how bad her character feels to play.

Watch how the next Aloy collab will be with Kurro Games. Jokes aside, my hope for WuWa is that they will actually make collabs. They made a collab with BRS in PGR and I kinda hope we'll get her in WuWa too

I wish they WOULD collab with their own games. I would love to get some HI3 & HSR characters in Genshin. It’s a bit ironic that because they half-assed her since they didn’t want the character, now no one wants to risk a collab. I’ll compare to another popular Chinese gacha game I play: Azur Lane. They have collabs every year, and two collabs have even gotten reruns, which is extremely rare in the world of collabs. That just shows how profitable it turns out to be collabing with AL.

I have Alloy and I used her until I got Ganyu. If they do another collab I hope it is Link from the Legend of Zelda if they ever get around to releasing the Nintendo version of the game of course it would be another you can only use them on that platform. Still no word if it was canceled but they always keep saying it is coming when asked.

yea, my Aloy is lvl 70 and combat ready. But I have so many characters it's so pointless to wish for anything new at this point.

I really hope they do something with her at least, I feel like it would be a waste just to have her exist in the game as nothing but a "I was here" trophy.

Imagine a world where Genshin gets well-paced collab characters and skins. H3I and HSR promo characters/skins. Traveler wearing Kiana cosplay. FF7 Remake Cloud as a claymore user. Catalyst-user Zelda to celebrate the long-awaited Switch port. Fight off a mind-flayer nautilous to earn BG3 styled skins. SO much wasted potential.

Sony was using Genshin as an interactive ad for Horizons zero dawn and they basically twisted mihoyo's arm and force aloy as a collab character if they wanted sony to greenlight the Ps port so mihoyo's way of sticking it up to sony is by making aloy as unplayable as possible not that sony would care anyways.

I have aloy on my pc account, I also have a play station exclusive sword which I don’t even remember getting and why if I play on pc would I get a PlayStation exclusive item? I don’t even play aloy and I didn’t even know she doesn’t have constellations.

Many people already commented about Sony & Aloy, so i wanna talk about Genshin Future collab. Imo, Genshin's world building is too strict. Our MC (The Traveler) is an Outlander, someone from outside the world. The way Traveler came to Teyvat is in the lore, traveler is the 4th person to came to teyvat. So if another outside character appeare in teyvat it will count them just like Traveler. Perhaps why Aloy is not the fifth (maybe yet) is Genshin main story is not finish yet. Maybe 3 years in the future, Genshin finally do ingame collab because maybe in the end of the story Teyvat is more open to new outlander? Maybe in that time Aloy will get an update? Idk 😅

why do people always bully the voice actors about stuff that has nothing to do with their voice? like if you have complaints about the game complain to the devs not the person's whose only job is to supply a voice to a character.

Due to the anime art style I think Kat from gravity rush would be a more fitting Collab but she would most likely stay on PlayStation only.

When Sumeru came out with its new robot dino/dragons, and again when the sequel Forbidden West released, and again again when Fontaine released with underwater exploration, I was expecting we'd finally get a quest for her, but alas... At the very least, since Genshin is revealing "Descenders" as an in-game thing (characters not from Teyvat), and Traveler is the 4th Descender Here's hoping she'll be in Natlan, since it's supposed to be a land of dragons, which usually means some of them will look like dinosaurs, and hence, be relevant to Aloy...

This is a long one as am texter, not talker. ^^ For me Genshin didn't ruin game by adding in Aloy. It's kind of a like harder game mode in a sorts. In Horizon Aloy does have ton of skills but despite them she not really that OP. You really had to be smart to play and outrun and trap enemies and snipe them down with bows and such. -On PS she does have constellation but no way to activate the skills. If I had to quess something that might had happened, has been that they probably literally forgot her and the fact that she would perhaps require somekind of talent upgrade as she was such one of a kind, only once appearing character. Also it didn't strike me as odd at all to see her be put into the game. She looks just as cute and good than any other character. Her wandering around world of Genshin does kind of a make sense. -It would also make sense if they added in characters from Starrail for example. -As kind of a looks like they're related in some time portal thingie or something. Am kinda worried how there really aren't other games such that could collab with Genshin without totally breaking the game's world and lore by their excistance. Aloy being there could be hologram for her whenever they're gonna get Apollo back. ( I have my guesses about the content of third part of Horizon whenever that's gonna appear. And definetelly there's gonna be third one. Seconth gave good ideas about what's gonna happen next. ) Why having Aloy in Genshin makes sense. -Genshin and Horizon do have quite a lot things in common after all. -Both set in worlds after apocalypses. Genshin at least that 500 years ago. Horizon 974 yeas after Faro's lil machines went on rampage. In both we have surprisingly lot of mechanical enemies. They might function and look different but they're robots still. Biofuel or power cells, magic or djinns it makes very little different when creature is made of metal and gears. Genshin actually did get dinosaur/dragon alike machines and some serpents before that. Then let's not forgot the ruins. To some which quests are gonna take you. And some that you accidently stumble along while exploring. You might actually miss a few in Genshin as they aren't quest related. Sumeru also has places which kind of are like places where they said that some of the humans of Teyvat were actually born... Doesn't that sound familiar to Horizon players?

I don't know why she's Cryo. The main element i used in the first Horizon was electrcity. she does need a Vision becase there is location in the world. i think if normal people go to the chasm they lose consciouness or outright die. but What if Alloy was the first non element charcter? like was switch element by throwing bombs. add high amount of element mastery to her base weapon. I use Alloy i think she a good battery. if she could switch elements she would be slighty better than Xingqiu and Diona

It’s crazy they haven’t given out a free five star other than this. I play all Mihoyo games but Genshin and we get at least one free a year, usually more than that.

I think if you’re honest with yourself, you wouldn’t think one collab that wasn’t the best would ruin every collab going forward. I for one think that that stingy company just doesn’t want to do character collab. And prefers others types where they have to draw something and post it on a billboard in an event of some sort or in a shop. But Maybe they will in the future. But I’d be surprised if they were never approached
