i love how aggressively positive Ruby is, she really is slamming those books down with motivation! she really do be turning productivity into a superpower, damn
I love how your sister seems to be forced to ask “how do I get motivated?” Because I often feel like I am forced to be motivated even though I wanna do nothing and just lay in bed...
This has come at the PERFECT time! Literally just been chatting with my granny about how unmotivated I've felt this week and I can't seem to shake it even though I've been actively doing things, this really helps! x
When I tick something off my to-do list I usually think it's time for a break. And then I find the book very interesting, or my snack turns into making dinner for the whole family and then I succesfully didn't do anything else from my list for the entire day again.
SAMEEE!! And then people recommend writing a timetable so that you are more "forced" to keep on but I'm always too optimistic and plan too many tasks and too little time per task. And when I need more time for one task, I'm just thinking "oh screw it, might as well be unproductive the rest of the day" and I'll not do any other task because I wouldn't be able to finish all of them anyway 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I know. It's just so hard. At the end of the day it's usually still a productive day but the tasks I wanted to do are still unfinished. I am working on becoming better at taking breaks and then returning to work by using timers or setting myself a few hours every day which I'll try to use for my to-do list. The best for me are weekly to-do lists. If I get distracted on Tuesday, I have more left on my list on Wednesday. And usually that motivates me to finish before the weekend and have free days for all the distraction I want/find.
@@Anne-id2zt those are good strategies, I will definitely try them out! Thank you! Concerning the weekly to-do list, how do you find the right amount of tasks to do so that you have neither too many to tackle nor too few to be productive every day on the list?
Ruby I always feel like you know me. Last night I was thinking how it would be nice for some of my favorite youtubers to make video on this topic because I feel really unmotivated right now. And here you are! Thank you!
But also remember that it is okay to NOT be motivated (nothing wrong with this video by the way I totally agree with Ruby's advices). In this society where we are always push to always be productive and do always more, we have to integrate that our emotions, feelings, circumstances are not always in favor for this productive state of mind. And even if sometimes we don't have "choice" and that we have to achieve a task, listening to what's our body is telling us is also important. Having rest, doing a fun activity out of work, not achieving all of our to do list but being proud for the "little" that we at least have did matter !
What makes me feel always motivated to study is my deep dream and wish to be a diplomat and represent my country abroad. I have to tell you, Ruby, I am just like you, I always loved to study and this makes me so happy! My love for studies and my dreams are enough to motivate me.
Ruby, thank you SO much for making this kind of videos. You can't imagine how helpful they are. I've been waiting for this video since the one about procrastination. And you uploaded it just in time, because I have to do a heavy homework and I wasn't motivated. Now yes!! Thank you again :)
Literally had to write down notes for this video, because it was packed with information! Really love your unique way of seeing study breaks. I will definitly try out the productive study breaks at the right timing next week. I feel like you are my biggest motivator right now & I have so much to learn from you. Keep on rocking, Ruby! :)
Doesn’t matter short or long I just need any type of motivation ahaha😭 But I totally agree with you on figuring out that “why” for long term motivation! Whenever I get exhausted from my studies I try to remind myself about why I started all this and why I need to keep going!
The one thing that really turned me around and is helping me be more productive every day is RU-vidrs like YOU because when I see you studying, working hard, being productive, it motivates me to do the same. So thank you Ruby 🥰
Ruby you are the best. You are a person who always wants everyone to achieve their goal. Today I was feeling depressed but after watching your video I am motivated. And there will be a day when I will personally be able to come to meet you and be your friend.
oh my gosh, i really needed to see this video. i've been feeling really down during lockdown, like i haven't got anything done. this video really made inspired me to be more motivated and to enjoy my schoolwork! so thank you for making this video, your tips are honestly so helpful!! i took so much away from this video and definitely going to start an ideas books :D
Oh man, I needed this video like 6 hours ago!! Thank you, Ruby. The tips at the end are clutch! I'm dealing with major productivity burnout at the moment after months and months of high performing work and trying to decide if the best thing to do is power through or just take a big break from studies or other obligations.
We all are waiting for ruby to get silver play button because she deserve all the play button silver gold diamond ruby ... all of them . you are our inspiration 😊
Dear Ruby, you are amazing! You learned me that school is something fun. People are always saying: school sucks, I hate school. People say these things because it is normal, but you're videos made me realize that school is fun and that learning is something amazing! Would you please make a video about Emily Dickinson? I am currently looking in to her poems and they are amazing so I would love to learn more about her as a person and her poems and I know that you love her poems and know a lot about her. Lots of love from the Netherlands! 😘
This is just what I needed Ruby! I was feeling so down this lockdown because I felt like I was comparing myself to everyone else being motivated, but I realised that I wasn't even trying! This came at the perfect time and I want to thank you for sharing this love :)
Here´s a weird To-Do-List Tip: Lists made me feel anxious and ticking something off was somehow not enjoyable until I started drawing little Boxes after my tasks and then colour them in after I´ve done them. I hope this works for some of you as good as for me. Coulouring it in and seeing the page getting filled with coulour is somehow far more fulfilling. Like windows in a skyscraper getting lightened up
Highschool in France is the worst because it makes students hate studying. We are required to learn so many things we don’t care about ! We can’t choose to focus on topics like students do in the UK with A levels. Now, I am supposed to start premed in september but I am so traumatized by school that I can’t stop thinking that I will never be good enough !
I’d hate to not have the choice I have with my A levels I’m starting next year. By the way, you are good enough and don’t let anyone or yourself tell you otherwise. It’s knowing that that helps you succeed in whatever you wish to pursue. Once again, you ARE good enough xxx
Thank you so much, I followed a to do list app honestly for the first time ever just yesterday. (6/20) I cleaned my room efficiently, counted every pair of shoes that I owned and sorted through my closet even measuring my closet to figure out how to get more organization drawers to fit inside since I purged my wardrobe a few weeks ago ready for some change in my room. I can not recommend to do lists enough they are so helpful. Checking the boxes does wonders! I just pray that I can figure out a study method for Math and figure out how to study efficiently and learn all I can for my test! I came across your channel a few months ago and I even subbed. I realized I wasn't getting any notifications you uploaded but I hit that bell icon just to be safe. I absolutely love your content Ruby!
Cool in my book is conceptually deep. Admiration arises readily when another is a wellspring of beautiful ideas, with dedication towards a dream. Ruby, your clothes cannot inspire awe as much as the way you've put your mind to pursuing what you love, day-in and day out. Quite simply, don't overthink it as its easy to do, but just know that you are far more cool for the areas you've applied yourself to, and that those who aspire to similar dreams will see greatness in you.
As a student whos pursing a psychology PhD, Everything Ruby has stated is true. I have alright applied some of these in my study habits and let me tell you, It does in fact help you enjoy your homework. For me personally, I always loved the thrill of learning. And I think its very important to read on your free time. Remember literature is a gift, one where we shouldn't take for granted.
this came at such an amazing time for me. I’d really lost touch with everything I’d found enjoyable. coming back to long term goals and how the little things I do now can help me reach them has really motivated me. thanks so much for this video! x
I've never understood this focus on "feeling motivated." You do things because you have to. You get up for work because you need to make money to live. You do school work because you don't want to fail, so that you can get into college or find a job. Parents take care of their kids because they're helpless. (And because they love them.) On and on we could go. If I was going to wait until "felt" this huge burst of motivation, I'd never get out of bed.
This isn't really a study / productivity thing at all, but I would dearly love to have some kind of book club, especially for over the summer! Not sure if this is already a thing... I love your videos btw! 💕✨
if you struggle to start studying, start by using reinforcement methods like treating yourself to watching an episode of a show after doing a few hours of studying or something. Reinforce yourself with a treat prior to studying or during breaks. Obviously don't stick to this forever, find enjoyment in work, but getting started this method can help. (check out B.F skinner's reinforcement schedules/operant conditioning). Over time the reinforcement will come from the feeling of enjoying studying or the success you receive from being productive.
I think this video could not have come at a better time. I personally think being productive can become a habit almost, but you have to start some where, and that can be hard for some. Keep up with the awesome work 😊
I somehow find myself the most motivated at 1:30 AM, but I'm trying very hard to get that motivation to move along to 9 or 10 AM. To do lists are great, especially since I'm quite forgetful and have something that needs doing. Fresh air has been a blessing in the past two weeks when I've been couped up inside "just" writing essays. I am off to have breakfast and tick that off my list!
That was a great video, Ruby! Thank you for sharing it with us! I am going to follow your advice, and I hope it works! P.s You are such an inspiration! Keep up the amazing work!❤️❤️
I use the 'scent associated with motivation' one, but not with a candle, I use it with food. It's really weird but whenever I smell citrus, I get motivated and view my work as positive and exciting.
Your videos got me through high school and my first year of uni and now that I'm moving on and seeing these videos it constantly keeps me motivated. thank you so much for providing such insightful content I love you so much hope you're doing okay. Can you make a book recommendation video sometime soon? I know you read a lot and you inspired me to read more too haha.
Hello Ruby, My name is Madison, we have spoken before and I don’t think you will remember but it was quite a bit ago! All I wanted to say was that I have been watching your videos since 2018, and you have made me so much more successful and your very sweet. Your my inspiration, just watching your videos gets me motivated to complete essays and exam questions, stress at the moment is reaching the roof and it knocks my motivation out of the window and I can’t complete work, do you have any videos that you have done or could do to keep our minds at ease with this stressful time?? Thank you for being the sweetest!! Love Madison!💗x
I found it quite easy to find my long term motivation, but I understood that is impossible to be constantly motivated everyday. I need to recharge my brain
