I use the water from my fish-pond when I do the 50/50 water change. It would be a very diluted version of Seasol, I guess. I use it for all my plants, especially my indoor plants and the 'sick' ones my daughter brings me lol. It works Really well for me :)

This is Carol not Bill. I use the succulent feed in the smaller container. I fertilized early summer and my succulents are very healthy and also shoot out stems with blooms more often. I will fertilize them again either late in the year or closer to spring next year. Thanks for your great advice.

Are you able to do a video about fungus and how to best use a fungicide? Also, a video on how to apply and use plant hormones to help with root development? I haven't personally encountered fungus so it's hard for me to show it. But I have used this to test other things and it has worked really well: #ad amzn.to/2ZvC8uJ You'll definitely want to keep them out of direct sunlight for a day or two after applying the spray.

If the 20 20 20 is diluted a lot, then it should be okay for your succulents. If you put it on straight, it will burn the succulents.

It's difficult to recommend without seeing what you're using, but be sure that whatever you choose isn't a slow-release formula, as that can burn your succulents.

All of the fertilizers formulated specifically for cacti and succulents that I am aware of have less nitrogen than potassium and phosphorus.

have you ever used fish manure fertilizer? i think that's what it's called. I used it on my string if pearls and seemed to gave burned the top parts closets to the roots mainly.

I haven't. You do have to be careful with most fertilizers and really dilute them before using.

I have a bunch of 2” pots coming this weekend that will need repotting in the next weeks or so and I repotted a bunch yesterday that I haven’t watered yet. Which would you use in watering today or when I repot the new ones? I’d like to give them a nice boost if that’s a good idea.

There is no smell. Once Cow manure is composted, it smells the same as compost, Earthy. Fresh cow pies on the other hand, PPPPUUUUUU!!

We've never tried it, so we can't really give you feedback on if that would work or not. We'd recommend using it on only one or two plants and seeing how they do before using in on a large number. Good luck!

You can fertilize succulents as often as once a month, but they will generally do just fine with one fertilizing each year in the beginning of their growing season.

Worm castings can be a great fertilizer for succulents! It doesn't burn succulents like slow-release fertilizers can.

I'd be cautious to make sure they aren't close to the plants. Give them an inch or two. It's probably fine, but with the nutrients so close you'll need to be careful it doesn't burn the succulents.

I have that succulent fertilizer from miracle Gro just like the one in the pump. I’ve read that it’s best to water a jade plant first then apply the fertilizer so the roots don’t get burned out by the fertilizer directly. Or should I apply a pump or two out of the soil like you have demonstrated, for a jade plant? Thanks

Use the bag only 1 time. Be sure that whichever you choose isn't slow-release, as it can burn your succulents.

all mine are indoors. the cuttings i got came with osmocote bead type fertilizer which said it gives them a kick start. my soil says it has fertilizer in it which is a cactus/succulent soil . i also bought cactus liquid plant food to add to the water. my question is should i still use the osmocote beads for the cuttings where the soil and water already has it in it? im not sure what would be the best to use at the cutting stage while waiting for roots. is it ok to use the plant food in the water, where the soil does say, you dont need anything else. the soil is alltreat farms cactus /succulent, it says "ready to use straight from bag, no additives needed. time released fertilizer. i dont want to go overkill with it. thank you for answering and helping me, you are very kind! :)

I wouldn't add anything extra until they are well rooted. I'd recommend just using the soil. If you want to do more, every other time you water, use the liquid fertilizer at half strength.

Yes, you will want to wait a few days to let the roots heal before watering and fertilizing.

Hi there hun, thank you for your channel. ❤️ if I fertilize my African milk tree or any of my other succulents and you say to take them outside for a bit for son. Is it okay if it's just indirect sunlight? And is it okay just to bring them out for a couple of hours and then bring them back in the house? And if so should I do that for a few days after fertilizing? Or four couple of weeks? I do not have a green thumb I have a crispy Brown thumb LOL I just spent more money because I generally have a year ago on my African milk plant and I don't want to kill it. And I do have some other succulents that I love and I'd like to e them survive. ❤️ thank you for your help have a beautiful day hun be well

Indirect sun is usually ideal, especially if you're moving it in and out of light. It's ok to move them, but avoid direct sun as it can burn them if they don't get acclimated to it gradually. You can do that after fertilizing if you'd like. They will grow faster after fertilizing so light is important. Once it is made up you should use it within a day or two. However, you can mix it in smaller quantities and let the tea bag dry out in between. It will make about 5 gallons total.

I recently bought some baby succulents, I repotted them into some slightly bigger pots (about 3 inches) but I started noticing when I would water them that the water would just hang out at the top and not really soak into the soil. I felt Like I re potted them wrong and got scared so I re potted them again and felt like it came out better. BUT i did this in the span of two weeks and not sure if I stressed them too much. Would plant food help a little?

Are you using a well-draining soil? (succulentsandsunshine.com/yt-mainsoil) If water is not soaking in, it sounds like that could be the problem. Adding fertilizer now won't help much, so maybe wait until the Spring and give your succulent a chance to recuperate a little. Good luck!

You can burn the succulents if you do the wrong kind or too much, but they're safe with manure tea fertilizer. Make sure to dilute the fertilizer so it doesn't have a chance of burning with other fertilizers you may have used.

Look for something that is low strength and balanced. Equal parts nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

Yes, you can use it on your indoor plants as well. Be sure they receive enough light, since it will encourage growth.

I have a question. I heard that worm castings work by feeding the microbiome in the soil, who then break down the nutrients so that plants can absorb them. Mine are planted in Bonsai Jack's Gritty Mix. Does that mean the worm castings are useless in this case? Am I better off with Plant Food and is that alone enough to provide all the nutrients the Bonsai Jack doesn't have?

In our experience the Gritty Mix is a great stand alone soil. We do also fertilize but only once a year. Everyone says to avoid fertilizing in the winter. I have two bear paws that are actively growing! One more than the other, or at least started earlier. Could I fertilize these now? With a basic cactus and suc fertilizer.

The reason that fertilizing in the winter isn't recommended is due to the lack of sunlight - without proper light, they can stretch. Cotyledon tomentosa "Bear's Paw" grows actively in the Spring and Fall. If you're able to provide enough sunlight, you could fertilize it, but but it's not needed. Do I need to fertilize my plants again after repotting or not ? Example say I fertilized 1 month ago and then now decided that my plant needs to be repotted so I repot it, then I wait 6 weeks, after the 6 weeks I then add more fertilizer or would the fertilizer that I gave the plant before I repotted it still be in the new pot with the plant and not need new fertilizer ?

Your indoor succulents only need to be fertilized twice a year, in the spring and fall. If they've been fertilized within the last month, they shouldn't need it again so soon.
