Once the missing piece of the Warriors franchise and the third splash brother, Poole has not had a great start in Washington. But how bad is he actually? And how good is he at his best? biz- sportsphere23@gmail.com
He got a ring, a bag, and a team. He threw everything he learned in the bay into the trash when he was traded. He didn't want to practice patience and had no desire to strengthen his craft. Last season JP could have fought to be in it with GS, instead he chose to be to himself, made the team loose several games because he didn't want to come off of the bench. How bad does it really have to be when Steph tell them to get him out? JP made a choice, he said the wrong thing to his teammate/brother, and like most brothers D.G. knocked him out. Jordan should have beat Draymond's ass, but he behaved like a 10 yo kid. Now he has it all a championship under his belt, $128 million, and the Wizards gave him what GS didn't and that was to be HIM. After 16 months and a move from Cali to Washington Poole is Poole's problem, not Draymond. Patience has Kuminga starting and 2 rookies getting great minutes. That was supposed to be Poole. He forced the owner and the organization to choose between him and a guy that has brought 4 championships to the organization, anybody would have picked Draymond. KD tried and failed. It's Steph's team. Poole needs to care and stop acting so entitled. This next generation is out there balling and Pooles low basketball iq, and overall attitude is something most teams don't want to deal with. From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows blaming Draymond isn't the move. We all saw him get punched, but this is the nba talent is everywhere. Klay and Dray can fall off, they have Steph. Poole forfeited that luxury when he called Draymond an expensive back pack for 30. He has a few years to fix it, but right now he is just a bad contract. He may never become box office, but he could definitely be a 6th man if he wants to stay in the league.💯💯
@@its420somewhererightnow well said man! If he hears the 'pop' (sound it makes when he pulls his head outta his ass), he can carve out a nice lou will/jamal crawford/jordan clarkson kinda 6th man specialist/microwave kinda role.. like he had with GS..
He doesn’t seem to have a confidence problem, he has a shot selection and turnover problem. He still has talent but he’s overconfident and not improving his game… and it shows.
Poole is a classic case of how getting something too early in your career can be detrimental to self growth. I wish he gets to play for the Spurs or Miami to get straightened out by the system in those teams.
When the Warriors won that championship, Poole & Wiggins were clearly the faces of the team's future. Hand the keys to the youth as Curry, Thompson, Green eventually get out of the game. It's 2024 and Wiggins has issues and the Poole situation exploded. It's crazy and sad at the same time.
Anyone who watched him in GS knew that as soon as he went to WAS and was given the keys, he was going to turn into a chucker.. MIP was NOT on the table.. dude isn't built that way..
I dont really get this narrative. I didnt watch him in the regular season when he was on the warriors, but i watched him through the playoffs. He was trash. Worse every round and legit the lowest basketball iq I've ever seen. He was important to win the chip, but he was also a reason they were struggling to win the chip. He kept taking bad shots and turning the ball over. But everyone forgets how bsd he is when a couple of his bad shots happen to go in. He's a bad player that flourished at times because of Steph's gravity and fans' short-term memory.
This comes as no surprise to those that watched him everyday in GS. Many of us fans were sick of his thoughtless losing brand of ball and we were glad to see him go.
not a real fan. He was instrumental in our championship run and he was on his way to becoming the heir to the Splash Brother throne. He was betrayed by Dray and the organization had to make the cutthroat/capitalist/ultimately unfortunately correct move by moving him and keeping Dray because of what Dray is to the team. It's the lowest move the organization has made during the dynastic run. We have always been good to our players and that's why vets and up and comers all want to come here. Poole's life/career trajectory is experiencing a blip the same way any of us would have had we been betrayed and disowned by everything we knew and loved. your take is weak and callous.
@@winstonsmith8236 Go back and watch his last games with the Warriors. He played like shit, turned the ball over constantly and whined about playing time. Good riddance, I'll take Brandin Podziemski any day over Poole. Watch Brandin's interaction with his teammates, they love him because he's a TEAM player, something Poole is not. The Warriors were lucky the Wizards would take his bloated contract.
Sports is full of talented people finding new ways to waste their talent. No bums make it to the NBA. Poole can blame everybody else but none of them have to play his career. He has to play it. He wants to be the Man. Welcome to the Wizards where many a player has been sent to be the Man.
Kerr made it pretty clear in a press conference how he felt about Poole. He said he wanted Poole to use his own talents and not let Thompson and Curry get in his head....and Poole just never could do that. Once he signed that deal and became a primary assignment for defenders, his 3pt percentage plummeted but his attempts did not. Curry and a prime Klay would make those shots. Poole couldn't, which was Kerr's point. And when Poole's shots weren't falling he was a mental train wreck. Turnovers, bad fouls, giving up cuts. The series against the Kings last year was just painful. Poole comes in for a just few mins and leaves with two or three fouls, 0 points and a turnover.
i wouldnt say that because he played smarter in GS with the vets around at least for 21-22.. I know he was pretty much the guy he is now his first 2 seasons in GS and some of last season too.. i think he's just being immature now since it's 'his team', if you wanna say that.. He feels he can do whatever..
A young and immature player like Poole struggled to grasp his true strengths and weaknesses. He mistakenly believed the Warriors would trade Draymond but was surprised to find himself expendable due to his immaturity and lack of experience. Overestimating his own value, he made poor contract decisions that led to his departure from the Warriors because he became far too expensive to keep. His focus on money blinded him to the team dynamics of selfless play and team-ball first. Now that he's facing the challenges of being a prime target and a team leader, he realizes the difficulties of playing selfishly and leading a team. Lastly, if he can learn from this season and grow as a true team player, he should outlast many who have been in his position and slowly return to become a strong player. If he doesn't change, I do not see him lasting over one more season.
Poole will come back. He's a great player, unique and fearless. He's just experiencing the pain and disillusionment any of us would feel in life/career if everything we knew/our family betrayed and disowned us.
Finding out the difference between having a superstar teammate make space for your game, vs having to create your own space. So many things making him currently among worst starters in NBA: (1) still won’t play D (2) still cherry picks (3) still showboats (4) still has poorest decision making. Seems like a decent guy irl, but big mouth, and no common sense.
Confucius say look inside one's self, take poison out, and be a better man. Okay, I made that up. Poole just need to get his mentality right and I'm sure he'll flourish. He's got talent and proven he's capable of being a star. Now, stop ball-hogging and trying to be like Curry, cos Steph's a generational talent that Poole can't emulate. Accept that and he'll be fine.
2:07 "It became clear that Jordan Poole felt betrayed. " Meanwhile in the 2022-2023 season, I'm watching Poole turning over the balls during clutch time and playing hero balls during Regular season. In the Playoff, he shot the Warriors out of it not to mention he is a defensive liability. He has been exposed and teams want their scorer to switch into him. In my mind, after the punch he did what James Harden did. He got his ring, then he wanted out, he wanted his own team. He wants to be "him", he wants to be the "go-to-guy". That's why he is always trying to make every play into a "flashy" play. (It is indeed flashy because he did blind pair of eyes when I watch him).
He’s the Marquis player on Washington… and they are 1 win ahead of the pistons. He takes bad shots and turns the ball over. He needs to get right in his head or he will be out of the league. Ask Ben Simmons, doesn’t matter how you start, if you don’t get better every year teams will shut you down.
He was getting open shots in GS because of other splash brothers . He was never to dribble and create his own shots. He was wasteful in GS as well but was getting covered by other splash brothers. In Washington he is getting exposed with opposing teams preparing scouting reports in advance. Now he need to move to next steps if he is really a superstar caliber player. In my opinion, he was never a star caliber player and never will be.
In his first few years, guy showed his arrogance in interviews like he was too cool to talk to media. As a nobody. He always was a narcissistic dirt bag. And a bit of success always makes narcissist come out. Guy is a jerk. He did get a better after a while. I guess PR team got invovled. IT was obvious he was not going to be ok. Unteachable. Beleive his uni career mirrors this.
Huh? Don't get me wrong, Kuzma has serious issues as well, & appears to play very little defense, but is in NO way as bad as Jordan Poole, who is shooting 39% total (30!% from 3), while averaging fewer Pts, Assts d Rebs.
On a 9-41 team? Who cares how many points he's averaging on a terrible team? Seaon average after 50 games: 27 mpg, 15.9 points, 3.6 assists/game, 2.3 rebounds per game. Some nights he doesn't show up like his last 2 no-shows (4 points, 0 points). For $32,000,000 per year and his "I don't care attitude"? No thanks. The Warriors got rid of him while the gettin' was good.
Golden State has a terrible track record in developing and retaining up and coming young talent. When they won their last championship the future looked bright with Wiggins & Poole to eventually inherit the keys to the car. Wiggins isn't the same anymore and the Poole situation happened, now no longer on the team.
I swear to god, y’all don’t know ball… The wizards system is just ass. I can see Poole being a very good player with the Sac Kings… He obviously just don’t like the city of Washington.
