He had all of the tools to become a Paul George type player. I feel like he was so physically dominant that he never had to work as hard as he should have. When he got to the NBA he found that every player is just as athletic if not moreso. He didn't have the work ethic to fill the gaps in his game. It also hurt him that he went to Phoenix who didn't have a vet who could guide him.

Life long suns fan here. I remember drafting Josh Jackson looking at his production at Kansas and thinking that Andre Igguodala was the floor. It was immediately clear that this was not the case. That was such a brutally disappointing era for Suns fans. We could have had De’Aaron Fox, Jamal Murray, and Pascal Siakam to play with Booker. Instead, the Suns drafted Josh Jackson, Dragan Bender, and Marqueese Chriss. If you include the year before Booker was drafted, the Suns could have taken Jokic instead of TJ Warren, and then been comfortable taking Luka instead of Ayton. Such a nightmare of a butterfly effect.

Suns fans here - he was part of a long line of poor early draft decisions. Not sure what was the worst - Jackson, Bender or Alex Len with the 5th pick in 2013. Thinking back to the local Suns commentators talking up these players feels so cringe now. People disapprove of taking Ayton over Luka, but I can’t hate on them for making that choice when they did. Ayton was the safer pick at the time, and hindsight is 20/20.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Chriss; didn't the Suns come away from the 2016 draft, having picks 2 and 5, with Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss? Ouch. (Was it 4 and 8? Something like that.) Obviously using hindsight to figure out who you "could've/should've" gotten, but... could've *easily* have gotten Jamal Murray and Domantas Sabonis or Taurean Prince. Pascal Siakam and DJ Murray went late...

The off court personal issues mentioned in this video are not even a fraction of his off court issues. I am a family member of his daughter. At 2 years old, His Daughter was in the ICU because of a drowning accident. Josh did not want to help pay for daycare and was attacking his daughter's mother with his huge team of lawyers. The mother had to take their daughter to work to clean an airbnb and while trying to work, the baby slipped out the door and fell in the pool. Her Mother found her floating lifeless. She was able to resucitate her with CPR and the baby was taken to ICU. Josh was made aware of the incident within minutes of his daughter being taken to ICU. He was at NBA all star in Miami when this happened and decided to stay in Miami instead of flying out to Arizona to be with his daughter. He then ignored the calls from the hospital and never followed up to check up on his daughter. While his Daughter was in ICU Josh was posting himself on instagram, partying it up with a bunch of escorts. If this doesn't tell you what kind of person this Man/Child is, nothing will. No one in our family likes him. His daughter is precious and an absolute cutie. I'm not exactly sure on the details but from what I heard, his daughter and the Mom have to get around in public buses.

As a Magic fan, I feel like if Orlando doesn't want him, nobody does. Haha. That being said, it's interesting to see who and how they develop. I actually see a pretty direct comparison (defense aside) to Jalen Suggs. I feel like the difference is what is mentioned many times in this video. Maturity. The difference between, for example, Chauncey Billups and Jackson might simply be what they want from life. It seems that Jackson wasn't willing to sacrifice his life to be an NBA player. That's the type of drive most NBA players need, and I'm not shocked or surprised that some don't have it. I don't think I would have it. Suggs was taken 4th, struggled his rookie year, but has seemed willing to put in the relentless work and dedication. Time will tell.

As a ku fan I hyped this dude up a lot turns out more than I should have lol. Ku beat Kentucky that season and in that game josh put up 20 and 10 outplaying fox, monk, and bam. He also scored 23 points in the tournament outplaying miles bridges. I think his problem was that “dog” scouts thought he had was actually just attitude problems. So much of the NBA is oppertuntity and he didn’t take advantage of his. The suns gave up on him too early because he was a idiot off the court. If he wasn’t they would’ve been alot more patient with him on the court.

@@Andrew-Ryan if he was going to succeed he need to go to an organization like Boston. But he cancelled on them. A person who is immature and reckless without having even gotten into the league is not gonna be disciplined enough to 1, grow his game in his own accord. Because it require a lot of self discipline and 2. Is averse to discipline and structure in general and will have a hard time with decision making unless curtailed The Celtics are a disciplined organization and that’s a turnoff for him, plus whatever he may have herd about Boston that he did not verify for himself. Typical of a follower. As a result he went to a lesser organization where the structure and support for him was probably lacking from day 1. And he never progressed. Had he been drafted they would have developed him into a much better player (see what they did with Robert Williams)

It's sad but a lot of highly touted prospects from Detroit just don't have the work ethic to develop any further once they make it to the league. I'm from Detroit. There's too many of these types of players in our history and I don't really know why. Maybe it's the same everywhere and I just pay attention to Detroit players because we hear about them.

Idk why, but Josh Jackson was a player who I tried to follow, despite not being a Suns fan (MFFL). When he was traded to Memphis, it seemed for a second like they might have gotten a steal, but it's sad that he just couldn't put it together. At least he wasn't Anthony Bennett

weird enough markelle fultz just might be able to shed his bust label if he was to stay healthy. The way he's been playing kinda shows why he was picked 1st overall. As far as josh jackson goes, i was more disappointed in dennis smith jr not panning out than he was.

Today kids are too caught up with trying to be the greatest and Head to the NBA ASAP instead of just being themselves and improving on themselves in every area and just letting life happen for them. What I'm saying is that now and days both the kids and the grown ups are putting too much pressure on the kids and warping the view of the game itself and the true reason why the NBA is the best. When I grew up it was understood that the NBA and NFL were way ahead of the college games to the point of calling them completely different games/sports. Going to the league out of Highschool was rare AF. That is the problem most players can't cut it in the NBA but can't seem to understand that. With that said get your money young man and don't leave any on the table.
