Freed of London has been making ballet shoes since 1929. Because a ballerina can go through 10 pointe shoes a week, Freed makes thousands of handmade shoes a year. Each pointe shoe has four main components: the sole, toe box, fabric, and elastic.

@twineberry
@twineberry 2 года назад
They have different levels of flexibilities in shanks, it might depend on the brand tho. In Russian Pointes it is marked as FS (flexible soft) or FH (flexible hard) for example Longevity could definitely be improved on in general, however that’s another thing that could depend on the brand. If you tend to wear shoes out really quickly trying a different brand might help

As fun as it may seem please don’t play around in them if you don’t have the proper training it’s very dangerous and easy to hurt yourself. When I did ballet ( around grade 5) I got super conscious on the shape of my box. There not a lot of ballerinas in our area, so we were the first to have toe shoes. Since my feet were very wide, I ordered the toe shoes with a wide box, meanwhile my other friends ordered the narrow box. Ever since I felt self conscious, and it led me quitting ballet. I regretted it now, cause I realized that many ballerinas have wide-box toe shoes. Nevertheless, toe shoes are very expensive, due to me having strong feet, I could easily soften a pair in just about a month, which could be very expensive in replacing for a new one.

There were clips of ballerinas breaking in their shoes. One used a pair every 3 days, while another used 3 pairs a day when she trained and performed a lot. I think it all depends on the individual, their skill level, dance style and training n performance type and how often ad for how long they train and/or perform.

@phillipfung3982
@phillipfung3982 6 лет назад
Its Just Rav You have padding in the shoe if you want it and you can but a custom mold in the shoe for your foot you still get bunions and stuff like that
@kenji7982
@kenji7982 6 лет назад
We have to be strong enough and practice safe dancing. Things like not getting over your box or balancing on your smaller toes with definitely screw you over. It takes a lot of strength and practice.

You have to be in ballet for about 6 years before you can even get your first pair of pointe shoes. They make you wait six years just to make sure that your heels and toes are strong enough for pointe shoes

Doesnt that hurt? And how do you balance when basically your whole body is on the tip of your big toe?
@chloepopp9126
@chloepopp9126 6 лет назад
TheOcelotGirl it’s more of a discomfort. You can add padding so that it’s softer, and the whole point of the toe box is to balance the pressure between the sides of your feet and two longest toes so that not just one toe is holding up everything. The box will give you much more surface area to balance on and makes dancing much easier when it fits properly.

So they completely "destroy" several shoes a week or do they only have a fair collection of shoes?
@kyliee8586
@kyliee8586 4 года назад
Dummbatz It depends on the brand, the amount of time you dance, and how strong your feet are. I have really strong feet and dance over 65+ hours a week. I go through about 6 pairs a week since my shoes “die” so fast because of this. Some people who dance less or who’s feet are not as strong sometimes only go through 2 per year. Some brands also break in faster than others. Also, some dancers rotate shoes throughout the week, so not all of their shoes are “dead”. Sorry for the long explanation. I just wanted to make sure I got all the info out there.

Probably online. But you will have to order several pairs to try on, so it is really expensive, but if you have the money, you can totally get some.

I wanna learn ballet so bad. But I think I'm too late because you should start at 3/4 and I'm 11 soooo I'm not flexible
@victoriatreffel564
@victoriatreffel564 6 лет назад
I'm 16 and started when I was 13! Again, I do it because it's my passion and I don't necessarily want to make it a career! Flexibility comes with dedication. If you really want to learn, just find a studio and get started! There is no age to try something that you love! I hope you do try it, it's a really nice sport and art :) If you do want to make it a career, look at Misty Copeland she started age 13!
