I’m on a carnivore diet. I eat about two pounds of ground bison per day.. sometimes a pound and a half. I’ve had a lot of health issues over the years, including being predibetic for many years.. I cannot seem to lose weight. (I’m 72 years old) though I have lost inches. I’m 5’5and 3/4 and I weigh about 200 lbs. I really want to lose the weight. Is there something else I can do? I started doing carnivore a year ago (in February) but went off to keto for a few months.. I also self diagnosed with SIBO, and the veggies caused swelling in my abdomen and a lot of discomfort and fatigue and lethargy. Should I just keep with the diet.. and be patient? I’m okay with that if that’s all I need to do. I’m good at sticking with something once I understand that the results will come.. eventually.. ❤

@meatymama-lh7pn thank you so much for the encouragement! And YES! I do intend to stick with the diet! I’m sure I do have plenty of fat.. I do make pork belly snacks and I render suet to cook my bison burgers in. I pretty much have to stick with ruminant meats right now, though I do have an occasional chicken thigh (skin on) or pork chops or pork ribs. I eat until I’ve had enough.. so I hope that’s all good. I was thinking just what you said.. that I’m probably healing my gut.. and over time things will get better. Again, thank you for the reply and the encouragement!

The question is how do you get healthy when you live in poverty? I am sure I am not alone on this disparity facing many that are forced to rely on the allopathic medicine model. I feel very frustrated that I think a new approach needs to be implemented. I would love to use the many different modalities that would make my life functionally better. Methylation testing, microbiome testing, using fecal microbiota transplants. Detoxing heavy metals, parasite removal protocols. The reality is to highly optimize my physical, and mental health would probably take an investment that most can’t afford. I am blessed that I am aware and well informed of the toxic environment we are living in. This perplexing problem has to be dealt with at a grassroots level. Escaping this situation requires a conscious population collaborating at a tribal, not for profit approach. How many podcasts and RU-vid videos does it take to sounding the alarm?

You should only get diet advice from a real Ph.D in nutritional biochemistry with awards and honors and or a Nobel Prize with a long term track record of being right such as Roger J. Williams, Frederick Gowland Hopkins, Fred Kummerow, George H. Whipple, William Parry Murphy, Edward Adelbert Doisy. All 6 would say the same that Linus Pauling said that meat, poultry, fish and eggs are good for you in moderation and that dairy is ok in small amounts if you like it and are not allergic to it.

Here is something I have to mention here. Calley Means is awesome but I do not agree with broccoli consumption! I agree that natural iodine is depleted from our soils, but I firmly believe that this push of humans consume large quantities of cruciferous veggies is really harming human health and has drastically caused this excessive high rate of iodine deficiencies! Everyone is told eat lots of cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, asparagus, brussel sprouts to name common ones- but google cruciferous veggies as there are at least 30 of them), but cruciferous veggies block the absorption of natural iodine found in foods! Everyone is told cruciferous veggies prevent cancer, but that is NOT true! Every time I ask people who have any form of cancer, fibrocystic breast masses, polyps on their gender internal organs, cysts on their internal gender organs, PCOS, hormones issues, nodules on thyroids, I ask them, “do you eat cruciferous veggies” and they all say “YES!” I have done this so many times in comment sections with carnivore interviews and they all say yes! Cruciferous veggies should be banned or have a large warning label on them that they damage the thyroid, cause cancer, and all the other issues listed above! Before I switched to carnivore, I ate broccoli daily for 6 years with half a chicken skinless breast, and a little of whole wheat noodles. In those 6 years I had a build up of fibrocystic masses in my chest. Then I started getting huge very painful cysts with one as large as 2” x 1”, and many smaller ones around 1”x1”. I became fed up with docs saying about breast cysts and fibrocystic breast masses , “it is normal,” “nothing you can do,” “we don’t know why it happens,” “diet does not cause it,” “it can turn into cancer,” “it is a disease that may not turn into cancer,” “you can’t reverse it,” “eat more plants,” “saturated fats makes it worse,”. ALL NOT true! I started researching on my own and found out fibrocystic breast masses swell and occur due to seeking for natural iodine in the body. All organs need it! Cruciferous veggies block absorption of iodine!! Saturated fats are VERY GOOD for the human body and helps heal all on carnivore diet and avoid plants! I jumped right into carnivore with zero plants and sure enough my fibrocystic masses started shrinking. I added a drop of Lugal’s iodine 2% or 5% to a glass of water at the start to help build up my iodine deficiency as well. I am now 1 year 6 months into carnivore and all my cysts have been gone, and I barely have any fibrocystic masses anymore. All shrank and almost all gone. Everyone that replies to me saying they had fibrocystic breast issues they all said they ate cruciferous veggies too because we are told to by docs!!! But the fact that people with any cancer also have been eating cruciferous veggies isn’t good and red flag that cruciferous veggies are causing all this due to blocking iodine! And broccoli alone has over 100 natural toxins in it alone, besides it blocking iodine! Avoid! Avoid all plants to be honest! Look up cruciferous veggies as there are at least 30 of them! Google it to see! Stay away from cruciferous veggies! Docs, please stop telling people they are good for us! That’s my rant on that topic! Say “no” to cruciferous veggies! Go carnivore! I am carnivore for life!

Thank you for saying this. Broccoli was one of my go-to foods as a vegan. I would literally microwave it and eat it with pasta sauce almost daily. After 9 months of veganism, I developed a breast cyst that wasn't there before at just the age of 19. Haven't been vegan since but it's been around 5 years and it's still there. It's been identified as noncancerous twice with ultrasounds. Now I'm trying to supplement iodine to get rid of it, in addition to ketovore/carnivore. I suspect I've been deficient a long time, like most Americans. I'm also trying to avoid being burdened with too many bromide detox symptoms (the fatigue is REAL, no wonder bromide was used as a sedative in the past; on my second day of drinking 2 drops Lugol's 2% in water, I took a deep nap in the middle of the day which I never do). I'm currently reading The Iodine Crisis and next on the list is Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It.

Hmmm. maybe being motivated by profits shouldn't be how we operate as a society. We should discourage and disable that kind of greed, not reward it with power, control and luxurious lifestyles. The problem has always been the system, not the incentives. The incentive of capital accumulation is the entire basis of our current economic model. We need a ground up restructuring of the way our economy works or else we are just spitting into the wind. How we do that? We don't, it basically has to fall apart at a national level. We can only take care of ourselves and try to educate others how to eat properly.
@christopher3d475
@christopher3d475 5 месяцев назад
Ketchup is a double whammy, it's also high vitamin A. Sugar is part of the problem for sure, and I know you've had Dr. Smith on regarding 'vitamin' A toxicity. I believe the excessive 'vitamin' A content of our modern diet is also contributing to diabetes. As an example, we eat dramatically more tomatoes now than 100 years ago. They didn't even start to become part of the Italian diet, for which they're widely known, until the late 1700s.
@NutritionwithJudy
@NutritionwithJudy 5 месяцев назад
I was shocked to learn how much sugar ketchup has! No wonder kids love it.
@therealjenniferrr
@therealjenniferrr 5 месяцев назад
There is no vitamin A in tomatoes though, it has beta carotene (precursor) which the body has to convert. It's NOT a 1:1 conversion and you would have to eat a LOT of ketchup. Vitamin A is found in animal foods and your body doesn't have to do any conversion. That's a moot point, it's the sugar that's the problem.
@christopher3d475
@christopher3d475 5 месяцев назад
@@therealjenniferrr No, you don't understand how 'vitamin' A gets in the body. ALL 'vitamin' A starts out as plant carotenoids. What is called the 'animal' form is simply there because animals eat plants or other animals that eat plants. 1 carotenoid molecule is converted into 2 molecules of retinoic acid and its metabolites in us and animals. Tomatoes are one of the worst plant foods you can eat. 'Vitamin' A also promotes diabetes through insulin resistance and a host of other degenerative processes. Judy has interviews with several people who outline its dangers.
@therealjenniferrr
@therealjenniferrr 5 месяцев назад
@@christopher3d475 I stand by what I said, there is no vitamin A in tomatoes. This is factual. I know exactly what Judy has talked about and it's always in regards to liver, which actually has vitamin A in it. I'm not advocating for anyone to eat tomatoes, I'm just stating a fact. A precursor is not the same as the actual thing. This is like saying folic acid is folate, it's not. We have to be careful what we say, as words mean what they mean. It would be like saying someone is deficient in vitamin A and telling them to go eat carrots. They would have to eat a LOT of carrots to get their vitamin A because the body would have to convert. It's just inaccurate. Nothing more to discuss on this, have a good one.
@christopher3d475
@christopher3d475 5 месяцев назад
@@therealjenniferrr You don't have an understanding of vitamin A. It's NOT a vitamin, but a poison called a vitamin. And it's there because you or something you ate ate carotenoids. No carotenoids (beta carotene, etc.), NO 'vitamin' A. Saying tomatoes don't have retinoic acid, the 'animal form'', (or its various metabolites), is slight of hand and dishonest.
