Food has become a more complex part of our lives than ever before. Much of what we think is food is actually many ingredients disguised as food, with entirely different, often negative impacts on the human body. Sadly, this is a greater problem here in the US than in other parts of the world, thanks to the food industry, corrupt intentions, and broken policies. Today, I talk about all this and more with my guest Jason Karp, whose personal experience of nearly going blind due to a toxic lifestyle led him to discover a different way; he made it his mission to get “back to human.”
In this episode, we discuss:
Jason’s personal health journey and why that has prompted him to take on the campaign against Kellogg’s (7:53)
The unhealthy state of America’s food industry (22:42)
How Kellogg’s has one cereal formulation for Canada and another for the US that is full of chemicals (26:07)
The correlation between food dyes and ADHD, and the failure of Kellogg's pledge (29:04)
The political aspect of food regulation and dangers of unregulated food additives (32:55)
Why we are in a state of metacrisis and what that means for our future (37:18)
The bidirectional relationship between food and mental health (46:04)
The financial burden of healthcare on the US government due to unhealthy diets (53:52)
Supporting the Kellogg's Initiative: Sign the Petition (1:06:03)
We have a lot to do to shift our food system and eliminate harmful ingredients in the US, but there are ways to enact positive change starting today. We can all support a cleaner food industry and better health by voting with our dollar, purchasing real food, and getting involved in policy policy changes. I hope you’ll listen to this episode to learn more.

Their bosses are the FDA, CDC, NIH, ALL Senators/congressman/President = ALL allowing this poison in our food. WHY? because they dont want US citizens to rise up against our corrupt government (boths political sides are corrupt and working together once you see this you see the government for what it is = corrupt money making corporation enslaving US citizens. Sounds crazy? just look at the last 4 years of govt craziness!!) When ever a doctor tells you "there is no cure"...eat carnviore diet and do fasting = you will be surprise at how your body will heal it's self. seriously this works to heal the body.

We just returned from a month in Norway and Iceland. We ate whatever we wanted during our trip. Dairy, pastries included and our sons even enjoyed the orange pop and a better tasting KitKat. Our stomachs felt wonderful. No stomachaches, pains, even my sons asthma was non-existent. After a week back in the US, all the problems came back. We eat a healthy, plant based diet. Still can't escape it. We are now researching moving to Norway.

All about the $$$$$$, $$$$$$ plus just like everytime I here or heard during covid and afterwards that the US did the worst as in cases and deaths. So much mire than all other western or 1st world countries. Does that ever surprise you??? It doesn't me because as we all noticed way too many didn't believe it or wouldn't wear a mask or take a vaccine. Many except older adults didn't quarantine. Why? WE ALL live in a bubble of somehow believing our freedom makes us believe we don't have to follow any rules? Especially if it came from the government. We are very spoiled. We can't do what we are told. IN ky a very conservative state jn a way except we manage to have a Democrat Gov. Usually. We had a Rep. before our GOV. NOW That had some very $$$$ stealing ideas. I still believe that if our awesome Gov Beshear whom had nightly tv sessions as nice as he could and laid down the rules, many more would have been dead. We are the richest country and just like inflation now and how France won't sale Pepsi... Not here. .. Because the companies make the $$$ and we all think the Gov can't tell us what to do... ?? Not as in dictator or anything like that, just common sense

I purchase only whole vegetables and fruits, nuts and seeds. I regularly buy organic eggs from the local farmer. My husband hunts and we eat organic meat. I also buy as much as possible from the various farmers around our area and when traveling to other area states - often times will stop, ask where certain vegetables are from- and buy from the farmer markets. It is more expensive- but, we save money by not being sick or requiring medications. We have totally eliminated ultra processed food- and, like you- we have loss weight even though we still eat plenty of healthy food and feel totally satiated. I am not trying my best to get my family members to understand the importance of what they buy and eat. I have two family members totally on board - many more to go!

A psychiatrist tried to put me on antidepressants that only made me sick so I stopped taking them and worked on my problems with a counsellor. A doctor, on one high blood pressure reading, put me on high blood pressure medicine which made me very sick. I stopped taking it and cut the salty soup and ate better so brought down my blood pressure naturally. Fired her as my doc. Now ater the craziness of the last few years and getting sick from that witches brew they forced us to take I will only go to a doctor for a broken bone or a bacterial infection as I know they can treat those.

The reality of what is going on in this country is that the government has been busy suing, small, farmers, that has been their choice of where the money is being spent. They sued an Amish farmer in Pennsylvania, who was providing people with healthy food to eat and many of them Actually were healthier because of what they were buying from him but yet the government went after him. Many other small farmers, who are regenerative in this country are being sought after and the rules they are being given to run their farms is putting them out of business. They want the big outfits who make all this bad food stay in business, whereas the small farmers are being sued and that’s the true reality of what is actually going on. The problem is people don’t have time to cook, lunch hours are short and vacation time in the USA is ridiculous. Am not saying Europe is perfect but how can anyone enjoy food when you work so many hours. Oregon and other states are trying to regulate water use for private gardens and small farmers market growers. Attempting to make it so Americans cannot grow and produce food. I don't know about everyone else but this is really starting to piss me off.

Due to outcry OR legislature withdrew this; however Oregon will try & refine it to pass in the future. City of Redmond, OR was denied more water by the EPA saying “we don’t think there will be enough water so you can’t get more.” Oregon putting in gear the fear of nitrates in water due to “bad septic” systems yet do not allow people to repair “bad septic” by not granting permits. My municipal government came through last Friday and bulldozed down the community garden I had built for my neighbors. Totally self sustaining garden with compost and 14 rainwater tanks. I built it for $0 (tanks were donated). I'm in a suburb of Tulsa, Ok. A supposedly red state. The mayor of my town also happens to be the same realtor that is responsible for all of our farmland now being covered with cookie cutter houses.

My change came at 37 with divorce giving up smoking and alcohol . I did do better on diet . My dog became diabetic . She was a mess and difficult to regulate so I changed from commercial pellets to homemade and she lived 11 years with the disease . Longer than any dog I had heard of. I got blood work done and the doc wanted to put me on medication. I said no and would like to try an extreme diet change similar to what I was feeding my dog . 3 months later my blood work was comparable to my 24 year old daughter . Improvements in bowl movement and stools . Eye floaters recently went away and my health continues to improve while I age which kind of makes no sense . You age you decline . Funny I never drank water . As a kid it was pop or sugary juice and drinks . Tang was our healthy choice with chocolate milk . I had to learn how to drink water and it was difficult like a alcoholic giving up booze . Gum disease is finally gone with toenail fungus .lifetime battle . All I have left eczema but that seems to be a struggle to eliminate. My mom had it all her life up until her passing at 90 . I coach little league softball. The snacks given after the game and sold at the snack bar is horrific . Parents gave me a snack bag and you could say it's child abuse feeding kids like this . How are they going to have a fighting chance of being healthy when they age

The great American diet experiment. Maltodextrine is in food and drink. It is being used as a filler or thickener. Having an effect on glycemic changes. I would enjoy hearing what your thoughts are about having it in so many "health products " ensure, boost, and other dietary supplements for elderly and infant formulas.

There is 126 different names for sugar, so if the company can get away with sneaking it they will. Therefore those are not "healthy" products, but they are being sold to us as if they are. It's criminal.

They put it in so many sugar free products. Also Dextrose. One You Tuber did blood sugar tests after 4 different types of chocolate bars. The last, sugar free raised his bloodsugar higher than the high sugar milk chocolate choice at the beginning. Guess what was used to sweeten it? A combination of Maltodextrose and Dextrose. My dad was diabetic. Used Dextrose to raise bloodsugar fast if it went too low.

@dawnelder9046 Names used to identify digestion-resistant maltodextrin as an ingredient in foods for regulatory purposes include soluble fiber, resistant dextrin, or dextrin. Names may include the food starch used to fabricate the ingredient. The chemical family has had a history of changes in classification.Maltodextrin is a name shared by two different families of chemicals. Both families are glucose polymers, but have little chemical or nutritional similarity. The digestible maltodextrins are manufactured as white solids derived from chemical processing of plant starches.

Love Humanco website, I have already messaged my brother and mom with foods to buy from the website. What a time saver, not having to do a deep dive in to a product before buying it. I've been trying to spread Mark's words to everyone I know and I keep getting this answer "I would rather die sooner eating good tasting food than live longer eating cardboard" When my daughter was 8 years old I was trying to teach her about good food vs bad foods and she asked me " why would they sell food to us that is bad for us "? I said " that is what I would like to ask congress ". Followed by " Because making money is more important to a Capitalists than there family, County, or even God ".

In the long run I know it’s already affected different things, but I’ve got things semi-in control. I’m not planning to live to be Jillion years old and I’m just happy. I’m able to remain as healthy as I am, and I don’t have to face what the next generation has to face therefore as I have great concern about my children who are now adults and their children and it’s pretty clear that the-demise of the planet is in the cards and unless people like you are able to get through to the rest of the people in the world and change it so thank you so much for all the effort you put in to making everybody else aware of what’s going on so again thank you it’s encouraging to see what you’re doing and more and more of your generation trying to do something to save this poor planet from ourselves

We figured this out over a decade ago and we’re in a position to grow whole, organic food and also trade with others who farm. We don’t go to Drs (except a holistic practitioner), don’t have supplemental American healthcare insurance because it requires wellness checks were they find things wrong so they can give you a pill or surgery for “fixing.” We cook for ourselves and rarely go to a restaurant. We rarely get a cold! Most food out or in the grocery store tastes nasty. I do best when eliminating bad carbs. There is healthy dairy, too. Biiiig difference!

I’m from the UK, I moved to the USA around 9 years ago and I’ve felt like crap from the food that I’ve been eating here, I try really hard to eat clean and yet still feel like crap. I started bio hacking and I could not believe how much chemicals, colors and genetically modifications that are in food here. I’ve been taking holidays in Europe specifically Italy ( genetically modified food is banned there ) where the food is fresh, local and tastes great. When I get back from Italy about a week in I feel like crap again. I’ve now stopped buying bottled water as I now use a high reverse osmosis, I don’t use a microwave, I now don’t use plastic containers and I make my own toothpaste. I grow my own food and I don’t wear raylon, polyester or Lycra in clothes.

I’m East African. I’ve been in the U.S for almost 18 years now. My health started to go downhill after few years living in USA. I was wondering what it could be. Then I started to research a lot on diet. One of the issues was that I was eating fast food in daily basis. I stopped it completely. But my health is still in a bad shape. I went to many doctors and they didn’t find any issues. But recently I started to take B1, and I felt that I was deficient in it. I’ve all the B1 deficiency symptoms. I told doctors and they don’t know much about deficiencies. Definitely the diet in USA is killing us silently.
