It was also a very cathartic experience for Celtic fans who had lived though the 1990's and had experienced so many derbies where Celtic had dominated the game but had been unable to score due to Andy Goram's heroics in goal for rangers

Try Vasco v Flamenco in the Maracana. 180,000 crazy fans. It starts 4 hours before the game, all choreographed displays and signing. I was there in 1998, 12 people were killed in the stadium during the match. Old firm game is small potatoes in comparison. Ive been at several OF games, great atmosphere but not anywhere near the Maracana. BTW im a hibs supporter.
