How Black Ops 2 Differently Portrays the Horrors of War - Vendetta, Loss of Loved Ones & Betrayals

The best thing about Call of Duty Black Ops 2 that I find interesting is, it doesn't just show war and conflict from one viewpoint instead the game throws you into the shoes of Menendez and lets you experience what the antagonist thinks and what motivates him to do bad things.
Menendez who already hated the US due to his sister being burnt in a fire managed to save her, but again he finds himself trying to save his sister again from CIA operatives but this time he failed.
This loss was unbearable for him and could not forget it, he makes sure he makes everyone suffer just like he suffered.
While Woods has his reason to hate Menendez, in one of the cut scenes Menendez while looking at David Mason's son can be seen saying "I won't kill him not like Woods", he was distraught that the CIA has to drag his family in this conflict.

I once heard a quote from a commenter, he or she said “Villains are broken heroes”. I think this fits really well with Raúl, he may have been bad, but his cartel campaign first started in 1972-1973 when there was a colossal earthquake, and when his family lost everything, so they needed to start a new beginning. And he was less aggressive when his sister was still alive.

Yeap bud, totally agreed, CIA could have used his sister as a way to negotiate with him but they did exactly the opposite of this and Hudson didn't punish Woods just told him to forget this, Menendez was extremely unhappy about his family being dragged into this war, he dragged their families as well to make them suffer equally.

One thing I love about Menendez is that he has an actual personal relationship with David because of their sufferings. Menendez knows that David has to suffer the consequences of having a dead father and crippled uncle because of their faults. So he vowed to never ever kill David. This is something very unusual about villains. It’s not everyday they spare a main character out of sympathy instead of arrogance. It’s just sad that David ultimately chose to kill Menendez instead of capturing him

Hey bud, yes I agree it has some bugs, you can even see it when Menendez takes Salazar hostage, there are many more bugs in there but the overall story of this game is great.
