How bright is the night sky during summer at 63 degrees north?

I don’t have the luxury of doing astrophotography during the summer because the night sky is too bright. I thought I’d make a short video demonstrating just how bright it is up here. This footage was taken on July 8 at 1 am and please consider that we have passed midsummers eve with a few weeks so it’s even brighter earlier in the summer.

That’s crazy, no darkness at all! We loose astronomical darkness, but can still just about image for a couple of hours! Looking forward to true darkness again! Clear skies!

I know how summer nights are at that latitudes but it truly amazes me how bright is the sky everytime I saw a video like this one! Solar imaging promises plenty of fun :)

Yes, it's amazing but sad at the same time :)

@@frosthastrophotography well, here we have the 'bright' replaced by the 'cloudy' thing most of the time so we don't even have the solar option 😅

Wow, not sure I could cope with no darkness at all. Getting a solar scope sounds like a great idea.

WOW. Your darkest sky is like what I am getting at 9 PM in early July ... the darkest portion of the night here is 1:24 AM Daylight time or 12:34 am Standard time. I was sorta 'poking' at you, Simon, Glenn, and Luke in my latest video bragging that I still get 7 hours of astronomical dark in the middle of July here.

I thought we had it bad here in Ireland at 53 degrees 😅 at least we get a few hours of "night", not real useful for Astro even though folks do a bit of narrowband during this time.
