Humans are quick to adapt and we see this even in our local recipes - we always tend to use what’s available to us. And that’s coconut for Laguna! Kulawo and Minanok are 2 recipes that you should not miss out on when you visit Laguna.

I really love how some regions in the country are creative with coconut milk. Incorporating burnt coconut is just genius!

What I love about this feature is the prominence of vegetarian dishes - shedding light on an often disregarded part of Philippine cuisine!

I really love Kulawo! It really has a pungent satisfying taste! Must try! Really famous in San Pablo, and part of its local cultural heritage. 💯

Thank you for this feature of my hometown, FEATR. Truly, San Pablo and Laguna in general has a lot of culinary treasures yet to be discovered. I grew up with kulawo as a staple in carinderias here.

My dad is from San Pablo Laguna. Kulawo is a dish that's nostalgic to me because when I was young, I would spent my school holidays with my relatives there, in township area as well as in my father's bukid, and Kulawo is one of the dishes that stood out for me so I often crave for its unique smoky taste. Watching this video has just reignited my interest to make it myself from scratch.

In surigao, we do that kind of coconut salad in everything that we can possibly make it with. My favorite would be nangka (langka) salad.

Grateful for our educational tours wayback in college. Ive learned doing kulawo from our southern tagala tours… its certainly good… and from that day on, was able to introduce kulawo here in Pangasinan. I have a vlog about it actually

I loooooooove these videos so much. Perfect to watch on my meal breaks. Re: music, would you consider adding more Ph-based music? I'm thinking folk music specifically, but also classical, pop, etc. There are so many different types of folk music native to the various regions you explore that it could add a fantastically complementary layer to the already-kickass content y'all put out. Can't wait for the next videos!!

Hi @Claud Reyes- Atienza, ano ang address ng night market at schedule? Salamat!
@MamitaClaud
@MamitaClaud 2 года назад
@@barrylavides it's San Pablo City public market Paterno st. Check if it's all back to "normal" sched. The street food starts usually around 6-7pm. Hard to miss as it's around the public building. Then again pandemic happened.

A favorite dish of mine that my Lola Sonson from Laguna would cook was what she called Adobong Manok sa Gata which had the smoky and creamy taste from burnt coconut and a distinct sourness and sweetness from a touch of coconut vinegar added at the end of cooking. I wish I had documented her recipes before Alzheimer's ate her away.

it's funny how through food we can also learn about who we are; our history. it's amazing. lesson - there are some processes, though it may long, that is worth preserving to get a great result.
