The best way to know more about a place has always been through its food. We were curious to learn about the unique seafood we could find in San Pablo, Laguna and what the catch of the day can tell us about the local environment.

This is not vlogging for food vlogging's sake. This is a localized documentation - of Laguna's culture on food. And knowing Erwan's Mom is from Laguna, I find this video quite sweet coming from a son... 😍😍😍

Thanks for featuring San Pablo, Erwan! The seven lakes are actually maars, ancient volcanoes which erupted only once and formed depressions. Later they are filled up by freshwater until we have the lakes that we see today. :)

It’s always this kind of content that you put out that I cannot help but question WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE like it’s so tiring to point out how a channel is so underrated like it doesn’t really matter if it’s not anybody else’s cup of tea because it’s an informative video people need to be here we NEED to be here not just for entertainment or whatsoever I don’t know. I really really love this content of featr although I’m probably part of a minority. And the conclusion…the UN with its SDG should partner with you. I

Thank you Erwan!💕 Started watchin’ your food vlogs and I so much appreciate you putting much thought and context to it (giving us a fair background that makes us understand why food are prepared in certain ways). My elderly parents-in-laws live in the US for the longest time now and each time they’d visit us here my mom-in-law would always request for dalag and ayungin. Sad though, I rarely find these fishes in our local market anymore. I am certainly gonna keep on watching your vlogs and will try to cook some of the recipes you feature.😊 God’s abundant blessing always be with and your family Erwan!

Every time I watched traveling videos featuring our own provinces in different parts of the Phils (with their own traditional food and cuisine). I always wonder to myself, that I really need to visit these beautiful places. Because I feel like I'm a tourist in my own country. Which is really embarrassing to the point that I only know about these places and food because of these videos. I've only been to Southern Leyte and Tuguegaro, Cagayan (but never really visited the whole place) in terms of provinces. For the rest of my life, I'm just a city girl (Manileña) without even exploring the whole city itself.😅 Hirap din kasi pag walang budget.🤭 So, more of these kind of videos FEATR.🙏😉👌😍 Good luck and God bless!!!🤗😇

@SiKedek

Really interesting stuff. It seems that the pinais na ayungin is related to Indonesian "pepes" [pe.pɛs] and Balinese "pes" [pɛs], especially as we see that the base root is 'fish/meat roasted in banana leaves', which is basically what Indonesian pepes and Balinese pes are (except that many versions of pepes and pes are steamed rather than roasted). Also, the languages themselves give us an additional clue, as *ai > [e] is a common change across languages, so *pais > Balinese pes, and Indonesian simply reduplicated the first CV to give *pais > CV+pes > pe-pes, as it tends to not like monosyllabic noun roots.
