For all of you on here saying that this brilliant man is wrong dont forget that the founding fathers also wanted as little government as possible. I for one am sick of this monster of government regulating everything and trying to enter and control every aspect of my life. Bloated and power hungry is all our gubbament is

Yeah exactly! And since they can’t do the things they ought to do well, now they have one more reason to raise taxes. What’s interesting is that even if they do have raised taxes they probably won’t fix the problems we expect them to fix, because otherwise they won’t be able to use the same reason to raise taxes again.

The People's Republic of China greets you. For those who are not informed, in China the state controls 70% of the economy. All banks and all major sectors of the economy such as heavy industry, chemical industry, chip industry, etc. are in the hands of the STATE! Who is the strongest economy today?

Hey! New York City is underwater and palm trees are growing in Siberia - government must fix it because I don't like Siberia. And besides that, all the ice cream is melting!

In the US, we have the highest standard of living that man has ever had, in history, and has had for centuries. I'd say govt is working pretty good.

Our standard of living is as high as it is because of the indomitable power of capitalism to build prosperity. Even the horrendous mismanagement, waste, and despotism of the federal bureaucracy cannot quell the mighty power of capitalism for good in the world.

Once again, Milton talks out of his ass. There is nothing inherently wrong with controlling incentives. I don’t think I’m the only one to think government should be proactive in regulating how companies treat consumers, employees, and the environment, even if it means “distorting incentives”.
@CoreyJayB
@CoreyJayB Месяц назад
There is something wrong with distorting incentives in such a way that causes shortages, raises prices, devalues currency, and otherwise destroys quality of life for private citizens.
@GLitchesHaxandBadAudio
@GLitchesHaxandBadAudio Месяц назад
@@CoreyJayB and you somehow thing the Fed is responsible for most or all of that? Its a two-way street with them and corporations. And largely, it from a lack of them (government) properly controlling incentives and being proactive in shaping the market. The market is a creation of governments, and should be maintained as such.
@adge5182
@adge5182 Месяц назад
@@CoreyJayB The same way the lack of government intervention would lead to the destruction of incentives by allowing the creation of private monopolies which would derive in worse overall living conditions. Government intervention is necessary.
@CoreyJayB

@@GLitchesHaxandBadAudio the market is the default. Without government, that is all you're left with. Government may shape, but does not create the market.

The corporate veil should always be peirced, IMO. Still, government should be constrained. The annoyances expressed by activists are not a reason to distort the workings of the free market, especially because government is very inefficient, and its interventions cause more harm than good for the silent majority.
