If she wants to leave you then let her go. Wish her a nice life. Never beg anyone to stay with you who doesn’t want to be there. Men must learn the art of letting go.

Probably down to our nature to try and fix problems, but it's an essential skill that we'd all be better off learning

I lived with a guy with NPD. It's hard to detach from the constant conflict and disruption they bring to your life, but it's necessary. Caller sounds like he's ready to go through with the divorce and based on what I've been through with a NPD guy, it's for the best.

Zack, you need counseling for yourself to heal, but not to save a marriage that is not saveable. Get the date of separation recorded in with the family court so that you're not on the hook for more spousal support from now on.

First things first: He needs a divorce attorney, not a counselor or pastor now. If he can't afford an attorney for court and the legal paperwork involved I wonder what Dave would suggest since it doesn't sound like he has the luxury of time to build up cash. Counselor after the time sensitive legal stuff is over.

@@PriceLomonte Yes, prayer has a place but Jesus helps those who help themselves. I don't think the reality is He will rule on the divorce and pay his legal fees.

Well, as they say, it's not good to focus too much on things that have gone by . . . just try to remember the good moments you had with your money, hope you had the chance to kiss it goodbye. 👍

Worry about your income and paying down debt. Settle the divorce as quickly as possible so you can move on. The only thing that matters in a divorce is 50/50 custody and hiring a lawyer that isn't playing games to just cost you money. Your lawyer does not argue with your ex. If you and your ex cannot agree, it goes to court and the lawyer presents your case and protects you in court, and then the judge decides. If you bring up your work schedule in relationship to the custody schedule, you will lose bigly. Your ex needs to work and provide care for the children on her time, you need to do the same on your time. If you can't figure it out, your ex will get full custody and you will pay out the nose in child support. Your job has nothing to do with custody. Figure it out.

The fact that he was away for 3-4 wks at a time is not a marriage. You can't sustain a long marriage like that. People who do stay in marriages where the spouse is away for long periods only do so because they live a good lifestyle and stay because they don't want to give up their luxuries.
@adamseidel9780

Braindead comment, Literally millions and millions of people today and in human history have lived this way for many many years. Military families, energy worker families, agricultural families… traveling sales, migrant work… it goes on and on and on.
@lepolhart3242
@lepolhart3242 2 года назад
@@adamseidel9780 everyone has a different point of view of what is a good marriage and what isn't. Many families have had a parent working away from home for long periods but most of those marriages end up in divorce. Military families, oil rig workers, migrant workers usually end in divorce when a spouse is away for a long time. I would never put up with someone working away for long periods of time certainly not to live a more luxurious life if they were doing it for better paid work. Family needs to be a strong unit and stick together by physically being there. My opinion on marriage is that the parents are there for their spouse and children and not abandoning their family and marriage for a career or more money. The only time its acceptable is during war time but I'm referring to peacetime.

@@lepolhart3242 you’re the one who made absolute comments about what is and isn’t a good marriage, not me.

@@lepolhart3242 While I agree with you on the principles of what family relationships and so forth should be, unfortunately, some have to take jobs that require travel because that individual, husband or wife, is the sole family provider. So....choose your battle. Best not to judge everyone's situation.

Having grown up with a parent with BPD, my anecdotal conclusion is that people who marry BPD have their own massive emotional issues. A need to save, a need to be enmeshed with and codependent with someone, a need to feel superior because they are the “stable one” in the relationship. BPD people come unraveled pretty quickly in relationships and are not good at hiding their “bad” side for very long. This dude definitely knew who this woman was early on and chose to marry her anyway. Guy definitely needs help and definitely needs to own up to his own part in this.

Plus, he misheard the diagnosis from the hubby regarding the wife (who knows if the husband is telling the truth). This dr. John is a narcissist himself. Rein him in Mr. Ramsey, or get rid of him. 🙄
