We do all of those! My mom is in stage 6. Miraculously, she can do 300 piece puzzles. She loves coloring books too. I check every week for appropriate movies. She loves going to movies.

@@csillaczako1582 Your primary care Dr. can refer you to a neurologist for evaluation. There are multiple tests given, to actually come to a conclusion.

When my mom was in a dementia care home, they had a baby changing table set up with dolls, doll cloths, baby blankets, bottles, etc. It brought back the familiarity of motherhood. There was also a fake office set up. Your typewriter made me remember it-a typewriter, old-fashioned dial phone, Rolodex, file folders, etc. They had 'proms' where everyone dressed up, had corsages, etc., and a band. It was prom night!

Wonderful! And yes- the familiarity of being a Mom- caring for children- can be such a comfort! And I love the ideas of adding a Rolodex, dial phone and file folders to the room. Excellent! Actually, at 67 (my age) I STILL prefer hard copy and real folders I can touch. Some on the cloud I lose never to be found again!🤣🤣🤣 And a band! So good! Music does amazing things for our loved ones. Thank you for taking the time to add all these ideas! 🙏🏻💗

Very many thanks for these amazing suggestions, one I would like to add is songs or hymns, they never forget the words to hymns from years ago, the words to songs they used to love too. Also, go back in years to funny stories they used to tell about their childhood, it’s amazing just how much they remember from their youth or teen years, my mum used to laugh out loud when recalling events with a friend of hers when they cleaned the boats and ships at Southampton Docks (in Hampshire here in England!! By golly they used to get up to all sorts, thank goodness she’d told me some of those stories when I was a youngster. Anything from when they were young and you’ll see their faces light up. I know they won’t remember it afterwards, but while they’re retelling their tales …they’re alive and so happy! 😊😂 What about knitting and sewing they enjoyed in years gone by? Just start a simple pattern off…could you do some for me please mum?

Yes to the old hymns! I used to sing the simple “Jesus Loves Me” when showering Mum and she would nod her head and mouth the words with me. And I love the reminder to tell stories about when they were young, because they absolutely do fill in and add even more details to go along with the stories. Anything that brings a sparkle to their eye is worth trying! Thank you for sharing the sweet stories and suggestions! There are 3 activities videos on my channel- plus other videos of course- I continue to add as I gather information and have time! 🙏🏻💗

My mother had dementia beginning around 2014. Since my father died, my mother keeps asking: "What do I do now?" These suggestions may help. I should pick up green beans, or other produce, from the grocery store so we can process them together.

@@johnorr8094 First-Thank you for caring so well for your Mother! And wonderful idea! Moms spent so much time in the kitchen, that it is wonderful to let them keep working in the area that comes naturally to them, as long as possible. It keeps them occupied AND lets them know they are useful and valued as a family member. Thank you for sharing! Blessings on this complicated journey.🙏🏻💗
