Romans 5:13-17 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him who was to come. 15 But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one man many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to the many. 16 And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from (because of) many offenses resulted in justification. 17 For if by one man's offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

Because sin is the transgression of the law, how could there be sin when there was no law? ‭ From the creation of Adam until the giving of the law to Moses, sin was in the world even though there was no law and death reigned over mankind. Adam’s one sin cast the whole world into sin and death and yet why is he called a “figure” of Christ?
