Basically, trump Can't call for unity when he regularly preaches divisiveness. It will maje perfect sense to his MAGA cultists though. Although, he has been booed for talking about ideas unpopular by his MAGA crowd.
Thanks James your opening monologue helped me think it through and the answer is this: (Don’t know if this was said later in the show but….) 1. Everything Donald Trump does is for Donald Trump. 2. Trumps innate political skills are telling him that having been shot he can now appeal to a much wider base. So the speech he was going to give to pump up and maximise the vote of a narrower base is obsolete. A gentler speech that appeals to the sympathy vote (for want of a better phrase) he is calculating will win him more votes.
He has no interest in unity! He’s not capable of those thoughts. I fear for my country. I’m afraid my family will need to leave the country if we have another Trump administration. This is serious!
You know almost every word out of his mouth is a lie..so when he calls for ''unity'' what he really he means is the opposite..''fight fight fight''..and he made sure he got that point across just befor being dragged off the stage!
That kid who keeps missing the bus every Monday morning…….maybe he is missing it on purpose knowing his dad is going to give him a lift. The dad said he works away Monday to Friday so maybe he just wants to spend some time with his dad and school might not be the issue.

Most people when reminded of their own mortality changes,,,,, for about 3 months, then they are back doing the same things the same way. Trumps abillity not to learn from experience is legendary, why should we expect this to change anything for the better ? If anything, I suspect this will inflame his ego even more !
Trump’s appeal goes no further than the supporters he has already. The Trump supporter is engaged when enraged. But rage isn’t enough to gain more supporters. When the Democrats turn out, they win. Don’t be fooled by “optics” and empty rhetoric.

Big thing that’s missing here is that your friend group has a connection via social media and young people don’t feel the same difference those who grew up without technology feel comparing online to in person contact with their friends, for me missing school meant I’d miss out on seeing my friends and I’d be out the loop on what’s happening, vs now you just message them in a group chat.
