How Captain America Returned The Infinity Stones

We have to talk about Steve Rogers’ MCU story and what he did with those Gems! He started off as just a kid from Brooklyn who didn’t know how to stay down, and eventually grew into one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Then at the end of the film, The Super Soldier embarked on a dangerous mission: return all the gems the Avengers had taken from the timeline and put them back exactly how he found them so as not to destroy reality. That’s just as big of an undertaking as stopping Thanos don’t you think? We know he accomplished his goal, as evidenced by Old Man Cap, but we robbed a chance to ever see how exactly this unfolded. Because let’s be honest, a lot of this seemed impossible for one guy to do!
Because yes, he could return things like the Mind Stone and the Reality Stone, but not in the way they originally came. How will that affect things in those timelines? Would Cap stick around to help since he’s sorta responsible for the mess? And how exactly did he plan to return the Power Stone and the Soul Stone? It’s not like he would have a handy dandy spaceship right? Well, there might have been a clever workaround for this and it probably involves the Space stone!
So check out today’s video all about the untold, unseen adventure about The First Avenger returning all the gems to their proper timelines. After you’re done, be sure to hit that big like and subscribe button for more awesome CBR content like this. And hey, I’ve heard if you leave a comment, then Disney+ might make this adventure into an animated series! Ok, that’s not necessarily true, but we can dream, right?

The Ancient One could use the time stone to revert the other stones to their prior states (cube, staff, liquid) for his later deliveries. Due to the past trips, the return trips would be more precise and he could just appear right in the room he needs to be. It would definitely be interesting to see Steve come face to face with Red Skull again when he returns the Soul Stone, but it would also be very interesting/ emotional to see Steve faced w/ Natasha's resting place (especially if her body was still there). Seeing Red Skull on Vormir would also likely be a surprise to Cap since it's unlikely Clint would've been able to prepare him for it: - Clint didn't seem to recognise Red Skull on Vormir, & his description of a 'red-skinned spectre' probably wouldn't ring any bells w/ Cap (especially having seen aliens w/ colourful skin like Gamora, Drax, Thanos, Proxima Midnight, etc in Infinity War & Endgame, & thinking Red Skull probably died many years ago) - Cap would realise that the Tesseract had sent Red Skull to Vormir the day he went into the ice & that Red Skull's been there all this time (seemingly w/out aging) - Their interaction would be interesting since they hv a past as enemies but Red Skull has clearly changed in some ways during his servitude on Vormir

Cap is a genius-level military commander, up there with Goku and Vegeta. He would have gathered all the intel from everyone who successfully retrieved a stone. He obviously couldn't confer with Tony Stark, even though seriously he should be able to bring Tony back considering he had all 6 stones before returning them. He would have figured out Red Skull was the stonekeeper on Vormir and worked with it. Remember the Hail Hydra scene in Endgame where he worked with his enemies? And who's to say RS can't get a redemption arc? Maybe all his time alone pondering his misspent past made him wiser.

Yes, I agree returning the time stone to Ancient one first is definitely the smartest move, she can harness the power of time stone and reverse all the stones to their original state, space stone becomes the tesseract, mind stone back into the sceptre, power stone back into the metal sphere, reality stone back into the Aether, etc. And then with the help of the Ancient one, use the time stone's power and portal opening magic, sent Cap back to those exact moment to when and where they are taken. Not need to be complicated about the process at all.

Steve had the Space stone, so he could use that for traveling the galaxy. The reality stone could be used to turn the space stone back into the tesseract and the reality stone back into the Ether. The Time stone could be used to replace the more difficult stones back without being detected by freezing time. The last stones to be returned would be the mind stone and time stone in 2012, as the Ancient One would be expecting someone to return it.

First, I so badly want this to be a live-action show/movie. I want to see more of Steve Rogers and Mjolnir!! Second, speaking of #1, you forgot that Steve also has to return Mjolnir to Asgard, too. Now, this would be infinitely easier than returning the Reality Stone, as he could just drop off Mjolnir damn near anywhere on Asgard. However, I feel like this would also be a major reason that he would wait to return the Reality Stone last. Having both Mjolnir and his shield to face whatever challenges try to prevent returning the other stones would just be too useful.

First off, any questions about how Steve returns the Stone to their former states, is answered with Cap's first stop with the Time stone. The Ancient One uses the Time Stone to return them to the form they were in when they were taken (Like Strange did with the apple and Thanos with Vision). The reality stone; Heimdall didn't say shit, when a second Thor showed up with a raccoon. The better choice is Freya. She already knows about Thor's time-travel shenanigans, would know Cap from Thor's stories, and has magic to help restore the Stone into Jane.

I didn't understand the part where Rocket was running from the guards on Asgard. They didn't need to escape. He was headed to a room with both Thor and Frigga in it. They would simply tell the guards that Rocket was a new pet and the guards need to leave. The prince and queen of Asgard. Every guard would simply say "Yes your Highnesses" and leave. No problem, barely an inconvenience. Thor and Rocket leave. If current day Thor finds out about it and asks, Frigga could say, "I had to kill it." End of discussion.

Cap' realize that he needs an orb and uses the reality stone to make an orb to house the power stone. 3rd then using the space and time stone he goes off to Asgard. Before returning the reality stone he remembers that he needs a scepter and tesseract. Again using the reality stone to make what he needs before using the reality stone to transform it into it's liquid form. 4th using the time and space stones to return to earth Cap'n returns the tesseract. No more need for a space stone he is back on earth and can finish his mission there. 5th he returns the scepter with the mind stone to a past out Steve who thought he was fighting Loki. 6th and final he returns the time stone to the ancient one. For all his efforts she offers to rewind time around him sending Steve back in time to live his life with Peggy. Regarding how Steve Rogers/Captain America returned the six Infinity Stones at the conclusion of the _Endgame_ film, there’s an online FanFiction story entitled “The Infinity Stones Return: Captain America’s Final Adventure.” This story is written in the form of a heavily detailed plot-summary for an eight-episode mini-series. The first episode takes place before Captain America (hereafter called “Cap” for short) begins his journey and shows Professor Hulk rebuilding the time machine and Scott Lang/Antman volunteering for the initial test run. This involves a return-trip to Clint Barton’s pre-snap home to put back the baseball glove that was taken during the original test-run. Afterward, Doctor Strange explains why the stones have been placed in the briefcase and reveals that the Tesseract, Orb, and Scepter have been shrunken down to fit in Cap’s pockets and will be re-enlarged after he arrives in the past to re-contain their respective stones at the proper time. In the second episode, Cap visits the Ancient One in 2012 prior to the arrival of his earlier self in New York. There, she uses the combined power of the six stones in the briefcase to cast future-dated spells that will make the 2012-2014 timelines reset themselves once the heisted stones have been returned to their proper places. Afterwards, she transports to the roof of the New York sanctum where she gives Hulk the original version of the Time Stone after first putting on a performance-act of initial resistance and surprise to ensure he understands the importance of returning the stones afterward. She then reclaims the returned version from Cap’s briefcase. In the third episode, the Ancient One continues to assist Cap by helping him recapture Loki and returning him into SHIELD custody along with the stolen 2012-Tesseract. Afterwards, the re-enlarged Scepter re-containing the Mind Stone is given back to the Hydra goons, thus triggering the first timeline-reboot spell which erases everyone’s memory of the wayward events. However, the final scene then reveals that since Loki misused the Space Stone’s power in the wayward timeline, a branch-timeline was nevertheless still created, thus requiring the TVA to intervene. In the fourth episode, Cap shoots forward to 2013 where he re-teams with the Ancient One for the journey to Asgard. There, they work together to neutralize Heimdall before putting the Reality Stone/Aether back into Jane Foster’s body and returning the enchanted hammer to a comically confused Thor. Afterward, the timeline is then likewise reset to erase everyone’s memories. The fifth episode has Cap shooting forward again to 2014 where he and the Ancient One return the re-enlarged Orb containing the Power Stone back to the temple on Morag after first making a brief but necessary side-trip to delay Korath’s arrival and prevent his interference. The sixth episode then has Cap being sent to Vormir where, in order to return the Soul Stone, he must first contend with a temporarily freed Red Skull and a temporarily resurrected Natasha Romanoff. The start of the seventh episode then reveals that, with the two stones from 2014 returned, the timeline has also now been reset so that everyone’s memories have been erased and that exact duplicate/replacement versions of Thanos, Gamora, and Nebula have been created to take the place of their original counterparts who jumped forward to 2023. Before travelling back to 1970 and then further back to 1946 though, Cap first reveals to the Ancient One that Doctor Strange had previously placed a charmed spell over Cap’s aura so that no one in the past would be able to recognize who he really is unless he wants them to. Hence, Peggy would be able to see Cap in his true form when he returns to her whereas everyone else would see him as somebody different. This would then enable him to easily change his name and assume the identity of a former G.I. whose unit was rescued by Captain America during the war as per the reference in the _Winter Soldier_ film. This also then explains why the younger Cap didn't recognize his older self at Peggy's funeral during the _Civil War_ movie. In the last part of this seventh episode, Cap returns to 1970 and puts the re-enlarged Tesseract containing the Space Stone back in the vault, then proceeds up to Hank Pym’s lab to put back the four replenished vials of Pym Particles. Upon arriving in the lab however, he is unexpectedly intercepted by the TVA. The final episode then has Cap being recruited by the TVA to fight the Red Guardian in 1984 before being allowed to return to 1946 and live happily ever after. Hope you enjoy reading the story in full on the FanFiction website. Cheers!

I get really confused about this because when returning the stones in order her would have multiple stones on him at the same time ( except from the last stone) so when returning the first stone he would have all other 5 on him and then there would be multiple of the same stone in the same timeline and surely that would mess things up

I agree with you in believing the Ancient One greatly aided Captain America (“Cap” for short) in returning the Infinity Stones. The first clue comes from the observation that the six stones in Cap’s briefcase were arranged in such a way that the yellow stone, which is the Mind Stone, was right in the centre and was in a larger hole than the other stones which surrounded it. This is very significant when remembering how the gauntlets worn by Thanos, Hulk, and Stark all had the Mind Stone in the centre of the hand while the others were placed in the finger-slots. This was done so that the power of the Mind Stone could branch out to the others and combine their respective powers all at once. Ergo, the fact that the stones were also specifically arranged this way in the briefcase shows that Cap intended to have their powers combined again in the past to undo the wayward events of 2012 and 2014 where Loki escaped and Thanos vanished. Support for this notion comes from the scene where Hulk was about to undo the original Snap and was first instructed by Stark to just bring back those who were snapped away five ago to the present date and not to change anything else from the past five years. From those latter words, we clearly see that the Infinity Stone could indeed have been used to alter or “correct” the proper flow of history. We should next observe the noticeable absence of the Tesseract to hold the Space Stone or the Scepter to hold the Mind Stone or the Orb to hold the Power Stone. Similarly, when Tony Stark was in 1970, he also stole a briefcase to carry the Tesseract in, but that stolen item was likewise not seen in the film’s epilogue scene, nor were the four replacement vials of Pym Particles that Cap swiped. My theory/solution for this quandary is that the stone-holding objects had actually been shrunken down beforehand, just like Rocket’s spaceship had been shrunken earlier in the film, so that Cap could simply carry them in his pocket and have them re-enlarged later when needed. As for the stolen 1970-briefcase, Doctor Strange may have also magically altered it beforehand so that it could now properly hold the six stones in the way they were shown on screen. So now, with the above background information in mind, here are my step-by-step thoughts on how Cap returned all the stolen objects and clipped “ALL the branches” just like he said he would: For starters, Cap’s very first stop was to 2012 where he arrived at the Ancient One’s door before (repeat, before) his earlier-self arrived in the city with Hulk, Stark, and Lang. By demonstrating his worthiness to lift Thor’s hammer, Cap instantly gained the Ancient One’s trust and brought her up to speed on the results of the time-heist. This then prompted her to go up to the roof to meet the soon-arriving Hulk where she first put on a performance act of initial resistance before eventually giving him the Time Stone, thereby ensuring that all the stolen objects would afterward be returned. After the Hulk left, Cap and the Ancient One then waited for Loki’s escape to occur which would force Cap’s earlier-self to travel back to 1970 with Stark, while Lang returned to 2023 with the scepter. Once the original four travel-travelers all left that timeline, the Ancient One used her telepathic magic to access the power of the six stones in the briefcase and reverse/rewind time back to before the foursome ever arrived. This resulted in the creation of a new timeline which played out just as if the foursome never arrived at all, thereby overriding/replacing the wayward one. Hence, in this new “corrected” timeline, a newly created/restored version of Loki’s original-self (who had no memory of the escape) remained in custody with the Tesseract while his escaped variant version would be captured and dealt with by the Time Variance Authority as per the “Loki” spinoff series. Using the stones to rewind time would also then have erased the memories of all the other characters who were native to 2012 so that Stark no longer remembered his heart attack and Thor no longer remembered fixing it, while the Hydra goons no longer remembered giving away the scepter, and Cap’s younger-self no longer remembered fighting his future-self. Just prior to having the Ancient One rewind time, Cap also had the shrunken scepter re-enlarged so that, during the rewind, it could automatically be transported back into the hands of the mind-wiped Hydra goons with the Mind Stone back inside. With the branch reality of 2012 averted (or “clipped”), the Ancient One than reclaimed possession of the Time Stone and used it to transport Cap forward in time to 2013 and then later to 2014 where she would be waiting to assist him in clipping those branches as well. In 2013, the One Ancient would use her magic to transport to Asgard with Cap to return Thor’s hammer and inject the Aether (Reality Stone) back into Jane Foster’s body. After this, the Ancient One would use the Time Stone to reverse Jane’s motions and memories so that she no longer remembered having the Aether extracted in the first place. Likewise, the Time Stone would then be used to erase the memories of the guards who chased Rocket and would possibly also be used to erase the memories of Thor’s mother, Frigga, as well. (Though I sometimes speculate that Frigga might actually have been the One Ancient in disguise all along since Thor needed her comforting to help regain his confidence). With a branch-reality successfully averted in 2013, the Ancient One then used the Time Stone again to send Cap forward to 2014 where the Reality Stone would now be in the Collector’s possession on Knowhere and where the Mind Stone would still be with Hydra on Earth. Here, the Ancient One arranged for Cap to re-appear in 2014 before the arrival of Nebula, Rhodes, Barton, and Romanoff just like he appeared in 2012 before the arrival of the previous foursome. Then, while waiting for the wayward events to unfold, the Ancient One used her Magic to quickly teleport in and out of the Hydra base and the Collector’s liar to reacquire the two stones again without being seen. After the wayward events occurred which sent 2014-Thanos and his army ahead to 2023 pursued by 2014-Gamora and 2023-Nebula, the Ancient One once again used the combined power of the six stones to reverse time back to before the 2nd foursome ever arrived on Morag. Hence, as before, a new overriding/replacement timeline played out just as if the foursome never arrived at all. The creation of this new “corrected” timeline also likewise included newly created/restored versions of the original Thanos, Nebula, and Gamora who all then continued about their business with no memory of the previous wayward events, just like in the case of the restored Loki. Having performed her magical feat with the six stones to restore the 2014-timeline, the Ancient One then promptly transported the Mind Stone and Reality Stone back to where she took them and then transported herself to Morag with Cap where the Power Stone would be put back into the re-enlarged Orb and returned to the temple. Meanwhile, the time-reversal spell would have already rewound Peter Quill’s memories and motions, along with his walkman, so that he no longer remembered being knocked out. After this, Cap and the Ancient One transported to Vormir to return the Soul Stone, thereby forcing the Red Skull to remain as its guardian - or at least until Thanos would show up again in 2018. Whether or not the Red Skull’s memories of that day were also erased here is uncertain but irrelevant. For in either case, Cap was nevertheless unable to get a soul-refund for Romanoff. The last phrase of the stone-returning mission was to now go backward in time to 1970 and return the re-enlarged Tesseract containing the Space Stone along with the borrowed briefcase and vials of Pym Particles. On this trip back to the past, the Ancient One also accompanied Cap by using the Time Stone’s power. Arriving in the base’s basement, Cap and the Ancient One secretly watched as Tony Stark swiped the briefcase and then sliced open the safe to extract the Tesseract before meeting and departing with his father, Howard. After the father and son were gone, the Ancient One used the Time Stone again to undo the damage that was done to the safe so that the Tesseract could be put back without anyone ever knowing it had been borrowed in the first place. (Note: Using the Time Stone to reverse the damage to the safe is similar to the scene in "Infinity Wars" where Thanos used the Time Stone to reverse the destruction of the Mind Stone). Next, the Ancient One reversed the spell that Doctor Strange used to transform the borrowed 1970-briefcase into the 2023-style version for containing the stones. The restored 1970-briefcase was then returned to the spot where Tony original grabbed it while the four vials of replenished Pym Particles were magically transported back to where they had been when Cap’s earlier-self swiped them. With all the borrowed items and wayward characters from the past returned to their proper place in the timeline, Cap and the Ancient One finally went their separate ways. Namely, she used the Time Stone one final time to return to 2014 while Cap travelled further backward in time to around 1946 where he finally reunited with Peggy Carter and lived happily ever after.

Cap was the husband and father of the children.... Marvel's take on time travel is that you can't change time, only make waves in it. That's why Tony told everyone they couldn't prevent Thanos from gaining the stones in the first place. It wasn't that that would cause a paradox, it was that time can't be altered so no matter what they did, they couldn't prevent the past from becoming the past. I think they really just wanted to have lame time travel rules so they wouldn't look like Back to the Future or Bill and Ted.
