Riot: so we have introduced a new rank above challenger. it's called Transcended God-King, and it can only be accessed by having M7 on every champion, being one of the top 2 players world-wide, having a 100% win rate on at least 100 champions and you drop out of it if you die once in a game. that way challenger players will have something to work towards :)

I have been playing this game since around the middle/end of season 2, and at the middle of season 3 I decided to get better and better, so I watched a lot of guides about everything, farm, calls, lane facing, guides about my fav champs, etc. after that I tried to apply that knowledge in my games, sometimes worked, sometimes it didn't, but the important fact was that I knew it through watching my replays, I made notes, re-watched that guides and again tried to apply that forgotten knowledge . I repeated this procces until season 5 where I reached diamond 3 and was fighting against even diamond 1 players, but I'm a pesimist, so I realized how "bad" I'm at this game instead of realizing that I reached a hole new level with NEW! things to learn... so I left the game for months and I lost my dream or goal to hit high elo. This video is great, I could remember all this wonderfull things that I had to make in order to improve. Right now I not play to improve anymore, even if I can hit diamond easily, but I think that some parts of this video can be used in other things, in my case, I could use them for my japanese language improvement. I don't think these tips are useful precisely for language learning, (I say so having learned Japanese myself), why? because league of legends is about competition and becoming better than others, in language learning those things don't matter, you don't follow "perfection" you follow "good enough for my goals", in other words, less studying grammar/vocabulary, more using the language in a real-life setting
@Knight-Cyberia
@Knight-Cyberia 3 года назад
@@geli95us even lol isn't about "getting better tan others", there is a lot of people in "others", is about getting better than yourself, you focus on your goals, your pros and cons, what you can and you can't do; and with that in mind you review yourself, just as in language learning. If you have such an ego to have the need of be better than others... well, you have a problem. And that "real - live setting " helps just with a little bit of goals, you will have too struggle with vocab and grammar forever. But as always, it depends of your goals.

This is simply brilliant. Thank you. As a long time hardstuck d1-d2 player I definitely had the problem of focusing on the results too much, not realizing how crucial it is to live with a mindset focused on the process. This might seem like a small thing to others but to me its just huge. I cant even count the hundreds of games that I analyzed with the keyword in mind "winrate, winrate, winrate, whats the average for this whats the average for that in my playstyle". Instead of trying to realize whats the right general practice of doing this, how should I change and adjust my overall playstyle so that its objecively better even if it causes me to lose next 20 games due to me not being used to it. In short words I would focus too much on playing what Im good at even though I knew objectively there are better META solutions, just because I knew I would have lower winrates if i switched my gameplay. And therefore, lower winrate = bad choice. You made me realize my approach was so wrong... I will try my best next season not to be a result-oriented players and perhaps finally thats what will make the key difference for me to become a better player. Thanks again, amazing content.

Either try making a career from it, and be an esports player ( it's well worth it, even if it's just for the money) or as you said dont care about competitiveness and have fun, play less, and focus on improving your life (and i mean that in a 0% toxic way. Like really not joking), either way just sitting in challenger, yes, it's a great achievement, but it just takes waaaay too much time, and for what?, nothing if you dont do anything with it. Also the Dunning-Krueger effect applies the other way around as well, meaning that more skilled individuals, tend to know how skilled they are more precisely, so I'm sure you are skilled, it's just that this comment seems extremely arrogant, and toxic. Even if you are really good at something and you know it, stay modest and humble, even if you deep down know you are right, it will convince others that you are a good person.

for me, personally, what feels like my biggest issue in playing is that i cant learn to watch the minimap repeatedly and consistently or pay attention what is even right next to my screen (i need to focus on my champion by holding space to be the center of whats going on..... i have tried repeated timers on an alarm clock or something (ringing every ~10s), chanting it like a mantra throughout the game and whatnot - but i still catch myself only looking at it when i walk back from base or recalling... i am definitely not a good player, but thats my biggest issue for sure^^

Whenever you end up in a bad result, ask yourself 2 questions: Was it my mistake? Could I possibly have done something about it? This is a little trick to avoid the dunning kruger effect. Even when other people make mistakes, its your job to compensate them. If you can not do that, you dont deserve to climb. Rewatch your games and point out 1-2 things you did bad and then continue playing with this always in mind. For example i try to fix my control wards. I rarely bought them. Now I need to learn how to improve my placements and when to place them (and dont forget to place them at all lol). Its a process. As a jungler: Your lanes keep pushing and getting killed by the enemy jungler? Is it your mistake they overextended and died even though you warned them? No. Could you have done something about it? Maybe. Countergank, intentionally "failgank" safely so the enemy will push and you can gank later again.

this reminds me of the time when I was hardstuck rank 15 in hearthstone a year or two ago. I had recently discovered a few new decks and saw myself climbing like crazy, but kept hitting walls. One of my friends, who claimed to be a former legend player in China explained that I was thinking wrong, and suddenly, within days, I hit rank 2 on a winstreak, poised to hit legend in another day. Of course nerves and my own mind got in my way and I reverted to old habits, but it took an external input to literally make my decisions for me to show me his thought process on prediction and available options to be able to climb using the same decks I had used only weeks ago thinking that I was doing something wrong with the decks I was running. This video has reminded me of that and it was really insightful, thank you for all your work kellen.

league is hard or easy depending on many things. it can just be depending on your champion. you can play very high skill cap champions like azir or you can just pick ezreal have flash on 20 second cooldown and then pretend that you need to hit your Qs to deal damage when ezreals build muramana bork berserkers lethal tempo lets not forget he can build deaths dance iceborn gauntlet and not be punished for building tank as an adc. just auto attack to D1

As a former hardstuck D1 promo player, I can tell I really got better when I figured out the following (be careful, it's already hard to do in micro lane gameplay and even harder in map macro gameplay) If you really want to be master or even reach challenger one day, focus on the two following things: 1) make no mistake so the enemies can exploit 2) learn to recognize mistakes to capitalize on ; this is basically the definition of being pixel perfect. You can apply these two aspects to both micro play (~lane) first, and then macro play (map). To beat soloQ you need to never let your direct opponent breathe, then transition your acquired lead into midgame by being 1v5 and still crushing everything in front of you. This is done by knowing your limits. Yet yes it's really hard to do and you need to invest time in League. (I was a enchanter lane bully main but it still applies to every role except jungle which isn't a lane but it's the same idea)

I began playing league of legends at 14 years old up to 15 when I left it (got my acc banned lol) , I played it a lot and never worried about improving so I was the lowest rank (I believe it was bronze 5) Fast forward to 18 years old I began playing again and got addicted again, but this time I improved a lot on my own terms despite having never touched the game for a long time, I climbed from iron all the way to silver 3 with extreme ease... and nowww im a hardstuck in that rank, this is an informative video but i also wonder if age and brain development also plays a lot into improving.

When I'm on evening shift, but still wake up at 8 and grind out 2-3 games before my shift starts, those games feel far higher quality than if I were to play 2-3 games after getting off work when I'm on morning shift, at around 4PM compared to 8AM.

It's an extremely small game in terms of size on disk and I highly suggest starting with 1 star beatmaps (some are there but I suggest downloading some for extra variety) and turning the "No-Fail" mod on! It's really helped me improve my clicking accuracy. I swear by this game and play it a few times a week to keep my edge on. Also, play with the DPI settings on your mouse if applicable.

I started playing league during the lockdown and currently im lvl 66. When I was level 30 I got really hyped that i can finally play ranked. My first game I got placed in a ranked game with people who are lvl 100+(ik level doesnt matter much but like as a lvl 30 every high level I saw became scary) and my god, during my 10 games I got 3 death threats, incredible amount of trash talking and being ignored while needing help in game. Later I realized that i was in GOLD, FREAKING GOLD. FOR GOD SAKE, I DIDNT KNOW WTF A WARD WAS LIKE 2 DAYS AGO. I shit u not i got placed in all silver and gold games as a level 30. Then a kind player added me and said that i should just play draft until im more experienced. But at that time I was really close to finishing all 10 games so i did it. Only at the last game I got placed in bronze and THATS THE ONLY GAME I WON. I got placed on iron 1 with 9 losses and 1 win. Ever since then I have not touched ranked at all. I just am afraid to feed even though Im miles better than I was back then.

the system put new accs at the average elo, that's gold rn, so your first time ever rankeds will be with golds, that's not efficient, it scares every new player, unbalance gold games and no one likes it, but this never seens to be in riot's mind to change it you will play with lower elo players now that you finished your placements but play at your time

The best strategy i found to climb ranked (im not high elo just high gold) Is to play till you lose. Max of 3 games in a row. Example: you win 1st game, keep playing you lose 2nd, stop. If you lose the first game just directly shut down your pc, go workout or smth. And come back in an hour or even the day after. If you win all the time in a day just keep playing as long as your timeschedule permits it. Change my mind

Quick story: I have been playing since the star guardian game event in 2017, went from a mid newbie(2017), to jungle main(2018), to botlaner ( Adc and Sup) main (2019- ), got my first rank at silver 4 in 2018 by playing 13 games in 2 days. Then, i decided to get a higher rank, my goal was gold 4 at time. As i was in the last year of college i couldn't play much, so i would stick to play 2-3 games each day after arriving from work before college( mine was at night only). I got gold 4 by the end of the year at 52% winrate in 128 games in my second year of actually playing ranked, felt really proud of myself at time. So, i do approve the few games per day mentality, actually helped me in lowering my loses by tilt that was my biggest reason to lose games. Now i'm aiming to get platinum at least, wish me luck, as i wish to every single one of you.

I started in August 2017 too ^^ But I wouldn't say the game is beginner friendly and I had a hard time adjusting to the toxicity. It started as a game I would casually play with my irl friends and turn into something I really wanted to improve in despite being mechanically challenged. I just ended up playing mechanically simple champs, the hardest ones being Jhin and Thresh, and improving my macro and got to plat last season. I don't think I'll ever make it to diamond but I'll try.

@@Hosigie don't worry, every one has their limits. ( funnyly enough i'm bad at mechanically easy champs, but pretty good at hard ones, grasping their gameplay paterns and such is pretty fun to me and quite easy) Just push through( with knowledge of the game and our champions) and eventually every single one of us will, someday, get to a higher elo. Cheers and good luck on your next ranked games.

Great video. Shone a light on what it really takes to become pro-level. This has honestly been one of the most insightful videos on how to rank up. I think the most important thing to take from this is that losses occur in the past and focusing too much on the negative aspects of what you just did can cloud your judgement in future games. Just accept it, think about what you did wrong to get to that point, or vice versa, then make a change based on that knowledge. Don't go into the next game thinking about your last LP loss, as it puts you into a rage-y, taryhard-y mindset where you insist that you need to recover your loss. I think you (as a player) need to remember that those 50+ different skills you need to have perfected don't all need to be perfected as you start to climb. Just having the top ten or so could be enough to see an improvement, but as you climb higher, you will need to start mastering the list from the top down to the bottom. If you are going to play more than a couple games a day, you should enter the game with a fresh mindset, as if it is your first one today. Lastly, because we have all had that depressingly long losing streak, I think accepting that it is just a part of climbing that everyone has to deal with at some point makes it easier to come back from. Because the fact of the matter is, if you keep playing, taking notes and improving, it will just not matter in the long run. I know that this is a long comment, but I think that this video will really help me change the way I look at ranked from now on in most games. I really needed it as someone who has only recently started to dabble in ranked LOL, despite almost being level 100. I only played casually so I never really bothered learning the game in too much detail outside of the basic knowledge you need and some more advanced stuff like proper ward placements / freezing / some lane management etc. Thanks for all the effort put in to the video. I know it takes ages to make this sort of stuff. :)

Going through school I had almost perfect grades without doing a second of homework. My secret was that I paid attention in class. I absorbed everything my teachers said, and if I didn't understand something I made sure I asked about it and had it sorted by the end of that same class. I also didn't focus on memorizing things, I focused on understanding the basic concepts. In maths, a lot of formulas don't need to be memorized. If you understand the basics well enough you can come up with them yourself when the situation calls for them. I think the same is true for league of legends. Don't just memorize what strategies work, try to develop an understanding of why they work. Understand why the meta is the way it is, why some champions and items are strong and why others aren't. If you learn why each item is good, you'll be able to adapt your build to fit each game rather than relying on blitz or other tools for your item builds. If you can develop an understanding of what makes a champion strong, you'll have a better idea of how to capitalize on those strengths to dominate your lane, or how to stay even or come out ahead in a bad match up.

What I have realized while climbing from a hardstuck dia4 Player to a masterplayer is that it is really important to analyze why you win a game and not why you lost. Because if you only know why you lost you will try to avoid these mistakes which lead to a very passive playstyle which is really bad especially in soloQ. However if you do more of the things that won you a game you will play more proactive and also smarter since you Start abusing every Small mistake your enemy does.

Why I don’t climb: 1) I get bored of 1 champion, so I play a different champ almost every game, 2) I play a variety of roles, mainly jungle, support, and adc, and 3) I play only enough ranked games to get a rank, usually I play aram, norms, or rotation mode. Can’t climb if I never do ranked. Scrubs will look up my rank and try to use it as an insult to flame me (wonderful allies they are) but I know that I’ve only played like 16 ranked games any year. Started in season 7 I think, haven’t played more than 100 ranked games probably (unless I include my Treeline ranked games, did that more)
