Colombian here: during WW2 we actually declared war on germany after the sunk some ships in the atlantic, our revenge was arresting dozens of germans that were living in the country at the time and them put them in one of the expensives hotels in the country for some reason for the rest of the war

As a Colombian, seeing Jorge Eliécer Gaitán leading the glorious red andean empire with the great general Rojas Pinilla into the WW2, was really the dream. Note: the first guy was a really important politician during the 40s, not quite a communist, but before he got to be president he got murdered. Second guy was our "dictator" during the 50s, ironically his government would be one of the most democratic one during the mid XX century (with its flaws obviously, but still)
