Very insightful information, Laughing is one of those mysterious wonders of the world. We don't know how it makes us feel better, it JUST DOES!

Roy, your wall in the background is hilarious 😂 My vote is yours for the desk at the Daily Show (I wish they would let the audience vote - you'd win it, no contest)!!

❤ your work Roy. Please keep on keeping on. I'm so baffled why Comedy Central hasn't rolled out the red carpet for you to the Daily Show's anchor chair. Maybe you have better things are on your horizon.

“I want to talk about issues, not people” that’s what was special and what I liked about Beyond the Scenes also… the talking TO people (or strangers, to refer to the interview with Toure) about important issues. I think that is a real strength, to even do that with humor.

Hopefully you read this comment, Roy, since you read RU-vid comments. I love how you focus more on timeless themes than particular people. I try to do that in my writing as well (20 books and counting, "Matthew Vandenberg author"). (Though I did write a whole book about Kanye as president). Being political and funny is extremely important and totally can change the world.

I’m always looking for new authors. What kind of stuff do you right about? Fiction or nonfiction?

Hi J Finney, It's fiction, but I usually reference a lot of scholarly articles and mix it in with pop culture. One of my best books is Black Park (a cross between the comedies Black Books and South Park). It's 11 "episodes" very similar to South Park and very political. Also, Amériçaisian Psyche is probably my most important book, highlighting the absolute horror of the military-industrial-complex (through the eyes of a sociopathic lobbyist for "Waytheon"). Plus I've got 4 books on nuclear war (that I wrote a decade ago). And a few books about some feminists traveling to Mars and commenting on the craziness of U.S. politics while they're en route to the planet. Oh, and a choose-your-own-adventure set in Dubai, about an ambassador looking to buy an island for victims of domestic violence to flee to.

I'm a foreigner. I don't know this man's work and as usual unpicking comedy is as dry as ditchwater. However, there is some essential information and wisdom here for all of us because the ignorance and arrogance of the American right threatens all of us and the death of democracy in America has a direct impact of our lives

What a fantastic interview 🙌 The vital oil in life is a sense of humor. The equipment squeaks & moans without it. Nothing about life is so difficult or depressing, but it does settle down before a good laugh 😄
