I tried one of these silicone kettles, it got melted on side when my butane burner got a little too high. The kettle was brand new and now useless. A very expensive lesson learned, don’t buy one!

I’d probably pass but still interesting and I’m sure some love it.That GSI looks better definitely want the option to use a campfire to cook. I use the exact same stove and gas we’re twins 🤡.

"Doesn't make sense to drop the money on this Sea to Summit".... Really? I guess it depends upon uses. For me on bicycle tours the compact size is an absolute winner, and easily over-rides any tiny 2oz weight penalty. I'm packing a whole kit including the 2.8L pot and an 8" pan. They all nestle in with added space inside, and will replace my Trangia for shorter tours where I carry a canister-fuel stove. Considerably more compact, and this matters when packing on a bike.

I find it to be a better fit for me when I am also planning to bring the x-pan for cooking some of my meals on a longer trip because the kettle also nests into my pan. If I am planning to only boil water for dehydrated meals then the self contained system of the jetboil will be my choice. I like having both options depending on what kind of trip I am planning.

Aaron I think I'd pass on the kettle. I have their bowl and cups (collapsible) but a kettle that can only be used with a backpacking stove setup and doesn't hold much water seems very limiting. For the price point. I'd agree the GSI Soloist is a better solution. Thank you for another vid.

Silicone does not transmit heat; as the water heats up, that heat is kept inside, which should heat the water more quickly. Aluminum will allow heat to escape from the side of a pot. (This is why multi-clad cookware is great: aluminum core to transfer heat & stainless steel around it to keep heat inside the cookware.)

I have the Walmart cook set and store a fuel container and stove element and cups inside. Silicone doesn't do it for me. Thanks for the honest review.

I ALWAYS go past the max fill lone. Lol. Years of use. Also use the same Walmart mugs. One mug inside then BRS stove and lighter inside as well, lid on top then second Wslmart miug on top of lid. I have lighter, more efficient systems but continually go back to the X Kettle because of the flat packability. Pours well too and keeps water warm

i owned that exact kettle. the lid fractures at about a dozen uses and after that it fractures or just splits into 2 or three pieces. the handle of the kettle cannot handle the heat of boiling water and will melt down to the metal wire eventually. and no i never used it over an campfire, i used the mini hiking camp stoves. ALL sea to summit pots lids have extremely limited use. the actually pot itself is great though and can be used as a folding bowl or maybe chamberpot.
