How Courage the Cowardly Dog Terrified You 

Courage in specific is scary for kids because the kids know that Courage is right, but the adults don't help him.

This show scared me as a kid because it tapped into my fear of your parents/guardians are so inept to save you so you gotta do it yourself, despite how scary it is. I love going back to this show as an adult since I'm desensitized to it. The animators working on the show did great on using uncanny designs. Also glad I'm not the only one who was scared by the mummy. That one scared me so much as a child.

King Ramses was my childhood nightmare. For 10 years, I loved Courage the Cowardly Dog but actively tried to avoid ever seeing this episode again. This episode literally haunted me in my dreams and created a deep fear of someone standing in front of my door at night. I feel it resonated with my real world fears basically. I actually wrote out a script for a video to make for Halloween analyzing the King Ramses episode, but you already summed up a lot of what I wanted to say. Good job though!

I watched this show as a kid, it was one of my favorite shows, first of all to say, that EVERYTHING terrified me as a kid, and this show? Never! I just watched it like it was nothing. I still to this day don't know why.

the episode that affected me the most as a kid wasnt a scary episode really, it was the episode with the tree that courage tries to protect but cant and the tree dies and it made me really sad and ive always remembered it, i love the show very much and rewatch it as an adult

I think I was a little too old when this aired to be permanently traumatized. It was certainly unnerving, but I think that can be said for any age. On a similar topic though, Are you Afraid of the Dark, and the live action Goosebumps series aired when I was a child, and I don't remember a single episode, but Disney channel wanted their own spooky show, and I can vividly remember several episodes. Does anyone else recognize the title So Weird. I think it only had a few seasons, and I think they swapped the main female actress between seasons.

I, for one, didn’t enjoy this show. It was my least favorite.

"terrified us"? lol no. i don't know about you but Courage never terrified anyone that i know of. maybe it was the generation of the time, we weren't coddled like generation today is, or maybe because i always liked and still like weird and quirky things, but i liked and still like Courage (my favourite episodes are Freaky Fred & The Tower of Dr. Zalost). remember Cow & Chicken? Ed, Edd & Eddy? Beetlejuice? man, Cartoon Network back then was awesome. cartoons today suck.
