What about three steps on two beats. I am confused

What about weight shifting, step and go movement? Moving your weight rather then your feet. What about Lindy hopping as opposed to East Coast swinging your weight? Lindy has weight on both feet all the time as opposed to moving your weight from one leg to the other in East Coast swing and releasing your hip to hold your weight. So...? More? Thanks

Those are all interesting thoughts. I've never thought of Lindy Hop as having weight on both feet all the time as a rule, though I do split my weight on both feet often and slide a lot. As opposed to moving my weight, I really focus on balance. Whether that be in place, or moving through space. When it comes to footwork, I see footwork as following a "hierarchy of needs" so to say. 1. Balance. 2. Style 3. Musicality. The first goal for me is to create balance through my moves. If the balance is solid, I will start to think of using footwork to add style to rhythmical variation, and the highest level of execution would be to execute footwork that hits the melody of the music.

it's maybe my 3rd time coming back to this video. It's so hard to share this technical info with students,,,, you make it so simple! Thank you!

JAndrioli, I am glad this video is helpful. If you always look at bounce as a "variable" then you can tune into the moment and choose a bounce that works at any given moment.

So how do YOU prefer to bounce and groove?

acturally music tells about how to bounce it. in learning phase dancers have hard time to feel it from music. if we grow up to listening perspective of music, it becomes more easy to understand everything. at some points of song make me bigger bouncing at some points make me more tiny bouncing or some times just entire song make me bounce bigger or lower. For an idea dancing for me is, lost yourself in music with chasing to music, adding style, feeling flow and being creative :) whatever mannn enjoy the 3min you have with swing
