@@swordsmanthegamernine7973 so the two people being portrayed are Ike sewell, and ric riccardo and they originally wanted to open up a tex mex restaurant but the food kept making Riccardo sick. them actually landing on deep dish pizza seems to be a deliberate choice to a degree they were trying to distinguish their pizza from other places in the area and in doing so kept building the crust up till they eventually got to that style.
This is 100% accurate because if you've ever tried to cook deep dish, they are only cooked a minute long (Texas guy said wait a minute) and there are usually awful because they are always raw in the middle like you only cooked it a minute (wait a minute he should be a Chicago guy). Unless you get them done right then they're seven out of 10.
No its not. It is literally the exact same thing as a regular pizza with the cheese and sauce reversed so the cheese is gooey and the sauce gets charred, and just a little more of each ingredient. Jon Stewart really turned an entire population into total idiots

Accurate, but did ya try it, see, as a Chicago man, I gotta give deep dish a 7/10 No but actually deep dish is so good like come to Chicago, if u haven’t had pizza around Chicago, it’s like the 2nd place after Italy you should go in the world if your looking for good pizza. If u go 100 miles away from Chicago the pizza quality drops by 70% and stays that way throughout the US, ok well New York has some good pizza too so let’s tie that with Chicago for #2.
Thats actual reaction of Italian. They said "It's impressive as pie, but i cannot said its pizza." Another fun fact is, before deep dish pizza, Chicago's pizza was thin dough pizza, just like original one, and quite well known in state.

Time to be that guy and say that the historical account being used, while humorous, is questionable. Tasting History with Max Miller did a wonderful video summarizing key points of Peter Regas's research into the topic, which found contradictions such as Ric's visit to Italy during 1943 and Ike's lack of involvement in the restaurant during the pizza's supposed creation. I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a deep dive!

fun fact is this is real… only a few states had gotten pizza with the few italian immigrants so deep dish was invented because someone had shared it through word of mouth so sometime between i think 1890-1900 something someone mad this, it was skinnier yes but basically this
This was pretty good, but Sewell wasn't the original inventor of the deep dish Pizza. That honor goes to Rosati's who are using a family recipe from 1926.

True family story; My grandpa was born in a mill town in NC, he got into the Air Force during Korea, and eventually met my grandmother, who was born in a Sicilian family in Long Island. They started dating and one night, she asked my grandpa if they would go get a pie. She ordered the pie and asked him to pick it up when it was ready while she went into the restroom. A few minutes inside the restroom, she heard a man with a southern drawl yelling at the waiter that this isn't what we ordered to a scared ny Italian waiter! She ran out and found out that Grandma never saw a pizza in his life, he thought they ordered an actual pie.
