What I find interesting is that I don't think all Ethereals, (though differently some, most likely the high ranking and older ones) know about their mind control aspect of their biology. I can't remember the name of the short story, but there was a story about a young Ethereal and in his inner thoughts, he comments how even he is disturbed by how easy it is to get the other casts to do what he wants, clearly unaware as to why. There is also the matter Aun'shi, who in the short story "Aun'shi" sacrificed his chance for freedom in order to protect 2 earth cast members, who had become trapped, (and possibly still trapped) in the city of Commorragh. That doesn't sound like an individual who sees his fellow Tau as lesser. Aun'va is differently one of the bad ones if not the worst one. I remember him ordering a water caste member who pissed him off to commit suicide in front of him by gut stabbing.

It seems that your main problems with the Tau come from the retcons, which I can get behind. I like them better when they first came out and they were as friendly and open as they say. Then people complained that they "weren't grimdark enough" and "too nice for the setting" and they were rewritten as mind-control authoritarians. Now that that is out of the way; I have a few questions: 1. If they were fighting Orks all the time did they never see Ork titans? 2. How could the, relatively, few humans already be manifesting a Warp entity when it sounds like all the others took a lot more beings and a lot more time?
