Oh my God, Kathleen! I wish they would do a Junior High/High reunion miniseries, with Steph, Arthur, Kathleen, Melanie, the twins, The Zits, and Lucy and L.D. and everyone. I mean EVERYONE.
@@lindacundiff4613 they could just say wheels is still tryin to hang out with his biological dad in port hope and his ol bat gramma is still pestering him
I'm 20 years into finding this became a fan of the next generation, but seen a bunch of the OGs episodes. Now, I feel complete seeing them all grown up!
Yikes, this was filmed much longer ago from today (17 years) than the passage of time from Schools Out to when it was shot (10 years). Damn time goes by fast.
This Ricky (Dan Ciraco) was in 2 episodes of Degrassi High (Showtime Part 1 and Part 2), the more popular Rick (Craig Driscoll) was in 10 episodes, and he also has a RU-vid channel.
Love the slow pan up to whoever the hell "Ricky" is 😂. And no, that's not Rick from the first couple seasons of Junior High. And I remember Trish having a WILD mohawk in Degrassi High lol
Her dad was a pretty big a-hole but honestly Michelle seemed like a spoiled brat. And she WAS clingy. Although BLT was a total douchebag. She basically gave up her life for him! She moved out on her own and had to work morning and night to afford her apartment and also totally cut her dad out of her life (BIG changes for a teenager) and he not only cheats on her he keeps doing it brazenly! Everyone knows but her! So he's not only cheating on her he's making her look like a fool as well! And after all these years I STILL remember the smirk on the girls face he cheated with and her whispering and laughing with her friends when they saw Michelle. She's a better person than me cause I would've smacked that smirk off her face not just cried about it!!😈😠🌋
I'm not surprised that Arthur and Yick became "Partners" with Web Design. Remember they were in The Science Fair together. Wouldn't it be something if Toby worked there one Summer as an Intern. I would have loved for Voula to have come back looking stunning. She got her Master's in Business and is in Banking helping folks secure loans for up and coming Businesses. Luke Brower probably manages a Warehouse somewhere, he seemed to have no ambition.
Yes, Joey was held back and graduated in 1993. Most of his peers graduated in 1992 such as Lucy and Snake. Caitlin took some extra courses and graduated a year earlier than the rest of her class in 1992. I guess to get some additional characters, this is a mixed reunion with 1992 and 1993 graduates.
They are really mixed up in the years. States that this is a 90 and 91 reunion and that Liz is a 91 graduate but has characters that graduated the year after her.
The actress is now a public health sociologist and professor who focuses on youth drug use. She has a really progressive philosophy on educating teenagers about drugs and has been a long-time advocate for cannabis legalization. She seems pretty much like the opposite of Kathleen-- chill and (from videos I've watched) very likeable!
Haha this is pretty funny! Most of them are terrible actors as adults, they were a lot better as kids! Cool update though, nice to stumble across it after so many years.
Why did a random guy who didn’t go to degrassi get an interview but characters like Maya and the twins didn’t? They were there in the episode so it wasn’t an availability thing
I would have loved to have seen that BLT be a Sports Agent who helps US Football Players who come to Canada to play in the CFL. He and Cindy broke up but he's kind of like a Spin Doctor like Olivia Pope (Scandal).
Would you be able to upload the rest of season 1 deleted scenes.... im trying to find them everywhere but i cant find them anywhere.... Please!! Ur the best for posting the suditions by the way.. thats awesome
Hold up.. isn't Kathleen and Yick a year younger? I know Caitlin moved up a grade and graduated with Lucy, Snake and the twins etc... And this wouldn't have been Joeys reunion as he was held back a year....... But I LOVED THIS none the less. Wheels actually showed up to the reunion as well and apologized to Lucy for what he did. He didn't actually go inside the school for the reunion though. The clip was cut from most airings but the scene is on youtube!
I just watched the finale of degrassi high and im sobbing watching this. Dwayne's story being told is super important and im sobbing about the finale and i cried that he was the only good actor in this
I know this is an OLD post, but since no one answered I looked it up. Ricky was one of their many characters who was basically an extra but would phase in and out from time to time and get some lines before dissapearing in the background again. Several of the ones in this video were that. Hell that Rainbow one I just looked up, no wonder I had no idea who she was despite seeing the show multiple times, she never had any lines. Cool they invited them to come back and hang with everyone.
They're from the shows "Kids of Degrassi Street", "Degrassi Junior High" and "Degrassi High". All 3 shows are from the late 70s-early 90s. Since Spike had Emma when she was at Degrassi Junior High, Emma now goes to Degrassi, therefore the show continues as "Degrassi: The Next Generation".
Lucy, Melanie, Tessa, the twins, maya, tabi, blt, Michelle, and a few others aren’t there. Not completely complete. What do you think they turned out to be?
School's out was a horrible send off (if that was it's intention, a send off) We all adore these characters and the Shows, having them Hurt and in trouble was not how I wanted to remember them!
It just goes to show, not everything has a happy ending and life doesn’t turn out the way you planned. Most of the cast of this show was living fast anyway,. They had to crash and burn one day. What made degrassi great was they kept it real!
Don't remember Johnny Rick or Rainbow. How about Author Patrick (the Irish kid) & Dwayne's two "friends". Who I believe kicked him to the curb once they found out he was hiv positive.
+Tim O'Brien Rainbow has been seen in the background during the old "Degrassi." In fact, there was a scene where Mr. Raditch calls out her name and she comes up to him to get her graded paper.
Yes, Rainbow only ever got credited in ONE episode! She was little more than an Extra. Nobody knew what the hell happened to Patrick after he and Spike mashed up and I'm guessing Dwayne told Nick (lanky POS) and Tabi (that Bitch that hung out with them) to get fucked after how they treated him. Ricky was one of those bit-part players who were in the two eps where Claude killed himself.
Liesl Weasel yeah he had Joey over when he wasn't supposed to have friends over. Because of Joey Rick got help and his dad wasn't beating home anymore.
My problem is that the the two main classes should have been the Class of 92 and 93, with Dwayne being in the Class of 91. Also, I thought Degrassi shut its doors for the 1991-92 school year based on the series final of Degrassi High.
Ricky is known as a "Street Lawyer" kind of like the ones in The John Grisham Books ie The Rainmaker, and A Time To Kill. If he were an American he could be a Lawyer who helps Recording Artists who didn't get their proper Royalties. There were so many of them especially with Boy Bands/Girl Groups.
@@starfox1 Might be part of why he wasn't there. I don't know how Canadian actors guilds work. But SAG based on what I know of them basically if you start getting speaking roles you risk being fined if you go back to being an extra (again, what I understand may be wrong), and I can only assume these people minus the ones like Joey, Snake, Spike, etc. were brought in and paid as extras not guest stars. So if the Canadian union is anything like the one here it is possible some who's actors went on to work like Stephanie and Shane's actors they would have risked getting in trouble filming the episode. Hence part of the reason it was mostly second tier and glorified extras in the episode as background characters.
@@dantheman8103Degrassi the Next Generation was a union tv show (unlike the original series). The actors were union members. There’s international reciprocity with the screen actor unions, so if you’re a member of a union in one country, you can work a union project in another country. I can’t speak for all the screen actor unions, but with SAG, you don’t have to join the union until your second job. In other words, you can work on one union project without being forced to join. If the rules are the same in the Canadian union, it would allow someone who’s a member of SAG to appear on the Next Generation. It would also allow actors from the original series to have speaking roles for one contracted appearance if they weren’t union members. Of course, a handful of them had joined the union and continued to perform professionally. Others joined the union in order to continue to appear on the Next Generation. Some just made their reunion appearance without joining the union.
He also said that he attended the reunion with a very special alumnus and he wishes he went to Degrassi. I totally agree with the whole thing about randoms being in the video lol
Julia Mercer The twins weren't in this episode but it would make more sense to have one of the actual characters than some random individual that no one knows.
@@xUnderdog21 Rainbow was basically an extra although they did have Raddich mention her by name once. Degrassi was filmed differently then most shows in terms of the cast. They basically had a group of 35 kids and used whoever the story called for and didn't have true "Regulars" like most shows. Yeah characters like Joey, Snake, Caitlin, Lucy, Spike, etc. got more prominence but even they would in some episodes only ever be seen as backgrounds basically being used like extras. Others would be extras sometimes for years, then would randomly pop up when a story called for it and get a line or 2 or even a sub plot, then fade back into the background. Characters in this video like Trish and Ricky were basically used like that. Had a couple lines in an episode or 2 but otherwise were only ever seen in the background as extras. Rainbow was used as an extra for the entire series, look hard enough in the background she is there. But I think had like 1 line in the entire show, most who were around that long got at least a scene or two but she never did. There were a few others like that but since Rainbow got mentioned by name once and her actor is Liz's sister she seems to be the poster child for the members of the cast who were never anything but extras through their run.
Honestly ppl, I loved DJH and DH however the point of TNG was it to show the NEXT GENERATION of characters. This reunion was part of episode 1 and 2 of THE series premiere of next generation . They used old characters as a staple to signify degrassi has always been around, but they weren’t the stars, . Emma, Sean, jt , manny, spinner , jimmy etc we’re. Only Simpson, Joey and spike were recurring characters
She was a background character, don't think she ever had a line. Degrassi cast had some kind of acting workshop and most of the extras were from it if I remember how they did it right (they were not a union show so they had an unorthodox way of doing things compared to how they did it come TNG). The extras apparently had names and characters and were ready to be written in if a story needed them, hence so many being in the background for years, getting a few lines in an episode, then fading back in the background. Although apparently she never even got to the get a few lines stage. lol. From what I gather this bit was the most she ever said on the show.
ya she went from a dumbass in jr high to some poser punk in degrassi high. she probably listened to mainstream punk like sex pistols. nothing really hardcore
Does anyone know what Neil Hope (Wheels) was doing in real life around the time they began filming The Next Generation? I know he died, but was wondering why they never tried to get him more involved like Joey and Snake were in TNG.
Belinda Davey By the time TNG started, his character was released. He made a guest appearance in one of the early seasons when Snake had cancer. So they definitely could have continued to use him if they wanted to. I was more or less asking why they didn't want to use his character. They were using Snake and Joey. It would have been nice to see the Zit Remedy having a happy ending. I wish they had showed us how he turned his life around.
Fidel, you never answered my question... they began filming long before 2007, and I think if they had found a role for him, his life may not have ended so tragically. I wish they had showed how Wheels life was turned around for the better after being released from prison. A lot of kids have parents in prison, and it would have helped give kids hope for their own parent in jail.
Who are these random people? And what the hell, how did Kathleen graduate in 1991 AND Caitlyn graduate in 1991 when Caitlyn was a year ahead of Kathleen (she wasn’t, but she graduated a year early) and “School’s Out” was in 1992?
The best explanation is that the last episode of Degrassi High was in 1991 with the school being closed down. The lower grades were then forced to graduate from different schools the next 2 years. So in a way, they all did "graduate" from Degrassi in 1991. Otherwise, they did retcon the years in TNG. Spike says she was 16 having Emma when she originally was only 14 in Degrassi Jr High. So they likely made the 2 year difference with the class year as well.
I am sure the real reason is she was not at the episode filming. BUT wasn't she supposed to be a grade below Kaitlyn and the others in that class. So stroyline wise she wouldn't have been at that reunion. Although they apprently invited everyone so had her actress come down she probably would have done this and just said she was there as someones date or something.
Trish was on Degrassi since Season One (started off as a thin, mousy red haired girl, who later turned into a punkish girl with large red spiked hair). Rick was the guy who was beaten by his father. Not sure who Johnny and Rainbow are, though.
@@jonathanmartin1654 What is funny is from what I heard they had the actors ad lib this and just make up what they thought their characters would be doing now. (Although assume Joey, Spike, Snake, etc. had to stick within what the script for the episode said but apparently everyone else who didn't have any lines in the show otherwise, just made up where their characters were in the present). So given she had so little she ever did on the show and thus could have realistically made up ANYTHING... she chose drug addict. I don't know why I just always found that funny.
Johnny and Rainbow were background characters, basically glorified extras. Although the one in this is Ricky, who was a bit character in some episodes not the Rick who Kaitlyn crushed on.
The original only lasted 5 years + the movie but Degrassi Next Generation ran an amazing 18 years showing 4 different graduating Classes. Emma, Clare and Mya were all the main characters and the mean girls Paige, Holly and Zoe not to mention the outcast Craig, Eli and Zig. Also the Bullies from Spinner, Jay, Alex and Jimmy to The Lakehurst Boys to The Hockey Team but tragic events saw them finding redemption and becoming better people. Ricks Shooting, The Death Of JT and The Suicide Of Can & Rape and Assault of Zoe.
LadyL31786 I am from England, never really watched the next generation too be honest but kids of degrassi street and degrassi junior high were a great influence on my life
This was also supposed to be the Jr. high school not the high school I assume. He should have come on and been in this as Claude's ghost. Just for the luls.
