How Did We Get Here? 

Theres a few logical leaps made here. The first is that you have assumed that a cause for the universe is a "being". Theres no proof of this and you just sort of jumped from "there must be a cause" to "the cause must be a being" Second, you cannot have a "before time" since the concept of before is literally a concept of time that requires there to have been time before the point youre talking about. And at the literal start of time, there is no time before that point. So there is no "before time" And third, "every effect has a cause" is not proven, but also id argue is also disproven in this explanation. Everything happening now is the chain of effects of the creation of the universe itself. The creation of matter, energy, time, literally everything had effects that lead to me writing this comment and you (hopefully) reading it. In saying that the universe must have a cause, youre saying that the very cause of everything is an effect itself and therefore, that every cause is an effect of a different cause. But if thats true, and God is the cause of the universe, then youd have to agree that He'd be the effect of a different cause. Like an elder god or something, that is IN TURN the effect of a different cause, an elder elder god, and this goes on forever. This not only is a bit silly and impossible, but also goes against the first of the 10 commandments. He is supposed to be the "one god" right? Then there cannot be a cause for God. And if thats what youre saying, then Id ask that if God doesnt need a cause, then why does the universe? Cant the universe be the very first effect? An effect without cause like how youve described God?
